The Fire Within Can Be Scary
In a fantasy world similar to ours, magic worked similarly to physics, with each elemental spirit magic being tied to a state of matter. Earth is solid.Water is liquidAir is gas.Fire is plasma. Four elements, four states of matter. However in the ancient world of Hitarea, "Plasma" hadn't been discovered yet. The people of this world believe that only three states of matter existed, and thus, only three elemental magic could exist. For years, Earth, Water, and Air stood alone as the three main elements from which all others originated. Advanced arts like metal from earth, or Ice from water were only extensions of their original element . . . so what does that make Fire? Fire is powerful as the earth with its mighty explosions, flexible like water as it writhes around in the air, and swift like the wind. All at the same time. Fire, in regards to combat, is the most powerful element by far. This fearsome power is Alden's to master, but this power is a double-edged sword. One shouldn't play around with fire if you don't want to be burned. The fire within can be scary, you know?

Imagine being given a second chance at life. Not only that but with a life you chose (sort of). This is exactly the situation that our character is in. He was once a Biology Graduate Student involved in a special program in Alaska studying Polar Bears. In an ironic twist of fate his life is ended by exactly that which he was trying to study. Now, in a new world, he refuses to be anything but the top of the food chain. IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a story I began writing a year and a half ago and decided to shelf, I'm coming back to it now because I miss writing; however, I have not carved out any time specifically for this and, as of now, it will be something I do on the side for fun. Currently I have 9 chapters plus a prologue written; I'm going to be going through and editting it to be in a present tense (from past), as well as changing some of the story and grammar. Stranded in a foreign land, two 14-year old boys find themselves in a new world. These two are caught up in an incident that sends them into another world by an item called "the black grimoire". In the land known as the Holy Lands, a land filled with people that have experienced war for several years, but are now controlled by a powerful group of bandits. Is there only danger and death waiting for them in this strange new world, or will there be more than? Either way, follow these two young men, as well as others, on this journey of battle and coming of age! Now uploading at 7:30 P.M. once a week for now on, hopefully.
