《Fusion Online》Chapter 16: Reconnaissance Death

Ian slumps on a bed. He's still in a room inside the colosseum.
"I told you Ian! I was going to talk him into letting me have my leave of absence! But you just had to fight him!" Heather rants, a bit angry that Ian is now dragged into ring part of the Spartan-Republic. "I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry." Ian groans as he turns his head to face Heather, who is standing up and walking in a circle. "Well," Heather sighs as he looks at Ian ,"there's nothing we can do about it now." Heather giggles and smiles at Ian. "You look nice in that color outfit."
"Yea right." Ian mumbles. His armor is no longer black with gold markings, but is now white with purple markings. "Still can't believe I lost. All he ever does is sit in that chair and send people around to fight. I'm pathetic." Ian's self esteem is low. It's all just unbelievable. Ian knows that Calem cheated, but who would believe a beta player. Everyone would think he's a sore loser. That'll just add another smudge on his reputation. Heather walks up to Ian and grabs him by the shoulders and looks at him straight in the eyes. "Don't you ever say that. You're one of the strongest players I know." Heather says firmly but somewhat sad that Ian thinks so low of himself. "I guess your right." Ian gives an unconvincing chuckle. Heather frowns a bit. She doesn't want Ian to feel bad about himself. She couldn't bare to see it. Heather pulls Ian closer to her and hugs him tightly. Ian stays frozen, not knowing what to do. After a while, Heather let's go of Ian and walks to the door. "C'mon. We're gonna be late." Heather tells Ian as she walks out the door: Ian smiles and picks up his helmet from the nearby table and places it on his head.
-----
Ian and Heather stand next to each other in front of large semi circle table. Normally, the beautifully decorated table, would be seated with all the members of the high Senate Commando Council. But today, only Calem is seated in the middle, looking down at the two players. "Now that Ian is part of this alliance, he will be sent to missions asap. Wait in the lobby for further instructions." Calem tells the duo. The two players turn around and walk outside the giant room and into the big lobby.
Heather sits down on a couch chair. Ian finds another couch chair next to the one Heather is on and sits on the chair. "Well. I hope you get placed under my command." Heather says, looking at Ian. Ian smiles. "That would be nice." Ian replies. Suddenly, a player walks up to the two. He is a Spartan class player with Athlon armor, age around 41, his color scheme being the same as any other players.
"Hello there!" The man says in a cheery voice. "Uh...hey." Ian replies, kinda confused. Ian was expecting Calem, but he guesses that he's busy doing something. "I'm here to evaluate Ian's skills." He says, still in a happy tone.
"What! Why! Ian is way above your level and almost everyone here!" Heather argues with the man. She knows how this process works. You get evaluated and then get places with a team of the same level. The evaluation is somewhat long and dangerous. But for Ian, it might be a breeze. Either way, Heather still doesn't believe that Ian should be evaluated. "You might be second in command, but you have no flexibility with direct orders." The man replies to Heather. The commander sighs. "Ian. I will see you at the warp portal in thirty minutes!" The man says, walking away.

"Right when I thought we could have some time alone." Heather sighs. Ian stands up and pats Heather on the head once. "Don't worry about it. I'll be back soon." Ian smiles at Heather before walking to the entrance of the ginormous Alliance Base.
-----
Ian sits outside the base, waiting for the man to come up. "Hey there!" The man says as he waves at Ian. But something weird happened. He was with that creeper Ian beat in a duel that was stalking Heather. Ian sighs as he walks up to the man and the creeper. "Alright then. I heard you two don't really get along. So I invited Harrison to tag along. That way you two can clear up any differences." The man says as he pats Harrison on the back. Harrison looks at Ian. "I apologize for causing such a problem for you." He apologizes. Ian looks at the man before replying. "It's alright."
"Good! Quick introduction, my name is Albert and I will taking you to Geonosis through the warp portal. We have captured that planet a few weeks ago but enemies still lurk in the shadows. Our mission is to scout ahead a small dungeon. Nothing big. Small enough for two people to take out. So we will be fine. Either way, I will be taking away your warp crystals." Albert tells the two. Ian looks at Albert in disbelief. Take away the crystal? That's stupid. Ian doesn't hands him the crystal until he sees Harrison give it to Albert. Ian frowns as he takes out his crystal. "C'mon, hand it over." Albert says, extending his hand to take the crystal. Ian hesitates but eventually hands him the crystal. "Alright then. Let's go clear out a dungeon!" Albert says enthusiastic. "Hurrah..." The other two says, not her enthusiastic about this. The trio walk to a wide and tall blue portal and walk inside the Promethean device.
-----
"Alright guys. This should be enough. We have cleared a lot. Let's take a break." Albert says. Ian smiles as he takes a seat on the floor and removes his helmet. So far, everything's been going well. Several Geonosians would attack but were quickly eliminated.
"Now. Harrison, would you pass out the rations." Albert says with a big grin. Ian smirks as well. Ian's starving and just thinking about food brought a smile to his face.
"Sure thing." Harrison replies as he pulls out a few sandwiches and a three cups of wine. "Here you go." He says as he hands out the food and drinks. Albert immediately starts devouring the food. Ian takes his time as he slowly eats the food. Getting thirsty, Ian takes a sip of his wine, and Albert drinks all his wine. Ian glances at Harrison to notice a evil grin. Ian gasps in pain as the glass cup falls from his hand and shatters on the floor. The Mandalorian drops on the floor, paralyzed. Ian moves his eyes to see that Albert was on the floor, also paralyzed.
"W-what's going on!?" Albert says, confused. "This is going to be fun." Harrison laughs evilly as he pulls out his energy sword. "Wait! Stop!" Albert yells frantically as he gets stabbed by the blue sword. The sword pierces his armor, sending his defense down and his health down to yellow. Albert screams in agony as Harrison drives the sword deeper into his back. Slowly, but surely, Albert's health hits zero, and he shatters, like glass being smashed on the ground. "Now, time for the main entrée." Harrison laughs manically as he slowly walks to Ian. Ian tries to move, struggling and shaking to break free of his paralysis. The maniac player laughs as he stands in front of Ian, his sword lift in front of him and above Ian, the tip of the blade facing the beta player.

"So here's what's going to happen." Harrison evilly says as he stabs Ian's arm. Ian grunts in pain, his health lowering to half of the green zone. "We were simply going through this place," the crazy man starts as he takes the sword out of Ian's arm and jabs his sword into the other arm. Ian grunts again and winces, he feels like his hand is being injected by lava and slowly burning his arm off ,"when suddenly, we got attacked! Not by players, but Geonosians. Hundreds of them." He says. Ian's health is now in the verge of turning yellow.
"The army of insects where to much for us. So you we all decided to make a final stand." Harrison continues his cover up story. Ian's eyes are wide open as Harrison tabs him in his left leg. "You and Harrison fought bravely, but we're the unfortunate ones. The Geonosians killed you two. I, however, manages I escape."
Ian starts to feel his leg burn, the pain increasing immensely by the second. He looks like he is going to scream.
"Go on. Scream for me! I want to hear you call for help, and watch as no one rescues you! Haha...haHA....HAHAHAHA." Harrison says as he stabs the beta player's right leg. Ian's health is at the red, his vision becoming blurry. He keeps his eyes open for a few more seconds and sees a strange mark on Harrison's wrist plate. It was the Death Watch insignia. "You're part...of the...Death Watch..." Ian grunts as he manages to say this. "So it's about time you noticed. Yes. I am. I'm surprised you didn't join, considering you have Mandalorian armor." Harrison says. Ian slowly closes his eyes. 'This is the end...this is were I die. Not in combat, but by a murderer...' Ian thinks his final thoughts.
I loud whoosh begins to be heard by the two players. A blinding green purple light races it's wait to Harrison and stabs him in the chest, sending him flying fifty feet away. Ian opens his eyes to see Heather with her Vibrosword out. She takes off her helmet takes out an injection. She quickly injects medication to the side of Ian's neck. "Thank god I found you!" Heather says, tears slowly coming down her eyes. Her voice is soft and glad. Ian's health starts to regenerate, slowly making its way to the green zone.
"M-ms. Heather!? T-this is bit w-what it seems!" Harrison says, his eyes wide in fear as Heather approaches him. Heather doesn't walk fast, she simply walks slowly in a way that can strike fear deep into the soul of death.
"You were going to murder boyfriend." Heather says angrily, emphasizing the word my. "W-what!? N-nonsense. I w-would never-" Harrison defends himself, but it's to late. Heather has activate a sword skull and has gown for multiple strikes to Harrison's torso and shoulder. Harrison gasps in in shock and pain. He feels the cold metal like swimming in the Arctic Ocean. "No! Please stop! I beg you please!" Harrison pleads in a scratchy voice as he falls to the floor in both his knees. Heather pulls back her sword. "Have mercy!" He says. Heather keeps her sword up, but after hearing him beg, she slowly lowers her defense. Harrison smirks evilly as he lunged toward her and slices her sword, sending it flying away from Heather. "What a treat! I get to kill second in command!" Harrison says as he raises his sword. Heather stares at the blue blade in fear as it comes towards her head.
Ian pushes Heather aside. Heather falls to the floor and looks up. The blade has cut Ian's helmet and left a scar on Ian's right eye. "Nasty bastard!" Ian yells as he pulls out his Darksaber and slices Harrison's head off. The head shatter first while the body hits the floor, then shattering afterwards.
Ian falls on his knees. An overwhelming feeling taking him over. Heather crawls to his back, being about three feet away from touching Ian. The commander extends her hand to try and grab Ian's, but stops and brings it back to her.
"I-I am so s-sorry... You s-should stay away f-from me... All I e-ever do to y-you is bring p-pain and m-misery..." Heather cries, tears rushing down her red cheeks and blocking the tears fog her vision. "No...," Ian responds after a small while. He turns around to face Heather. Ian leans in and losers Heather. Heather widens her eyes in surprise, but closes them and kisses Ian back. After a moment, Ian brakes the kiss. "I will never leave you." He says. Ian, still on both his knees, bows down. "I will never leave you. I love you since day one. My life will be used to defend yours at all costs. I swear to fight for those who can't, defend the ones who want to leave this game, and to make sure you get to see the light of day." Ian swears an oath.
"And I promise to stay with you till the end. To make sure I find you in the real world, and love you there more than I ever will in this one. My life will be used for you. It will make sure you can live and make it back to your old life." Heather promises Ian. Ian raises his head and looks at Heather. "Heather...will you...marry me?" Ian asks. Heather gasps in surprise. "Yes.
Yes I will!" She happily replies. The two stay there for some time, not wanting this lovely moment to end.

Spirits of Eternity(A cultivation story based on spirits)
There are many after Liv, for what she can do. Spirits flock to her and help her, while the rest of the world captures them and uses their power with abandon. Liv set forth to find the truth behind her parents’ death, after their final message. After hearing their voice, Liv was offered a decision. Live safely, or be the best. Just like someone from the past, Liv decided to step towards strength. The magic system in this world is based on a few types of energy: Note(for Songs), Will(for Thought), Mana(for ordinary magic, because I felt like it), what is referred to as 'energy' here(for talking to spirits), and Dominion(for Aura). This is still a work in progress. Any suggestions are welcomed. This and my other work, Monsters as Men, are set in the same world. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Dark Winter
It is always darkest before the dawn. After the divorce, Katie Fox was forced to live with her mother in New York after the judge ruled that her father, a former Army Ranger, wasn’t stable enough. They called him ‘that crazy bunker guy’ or ‘that paranoid freak.’ Whatever they called him, Christopher Fox was a Prepper. He taught those willing to listen how to survive in a catastrophe and how to prepare for the end of the world. More than that though, he was her father and she would rather spend her life in his underground bunker than another minute in that New York highrise. So, she ran away. The date is November 28th, Black Friday and hell has been unleashed on the world. A freak storm mixes with a deadly virus that turns its victims into mindless hunters of flesh. Katie will have to use everything her father taught her to survive and reach the safety of his underground bunker. Note from the author: Thanks for stopping by! The plan is to upload a chapter every Saturday or Sunday (as my schedule allows). Hope you enjoy the story!

A War Beyond Kings
Author: I made som mistakes early in the story that I will have to correct, but it will take some time. I have not abandoned this story, but I will be working on my computer and will not be active on royal road. "The elves start to leave their secure forest of Silvanwood for the first time in over two thousand years. Wizards are murdered in their own homes one by one to the dismay of the Jeidan Order of mages. The ancient ruins in Agnellia seem to have awoken after thousands of years of abandon. The flames of war are brewing, and the continent of Maëgor is about to witness a war like never seen before." Author’s note: This is a serious story, loosely inspired from many great works, which you will maybe be able to identify on your own. It is entirely original though. I’ll be working on this for hours every day, but that doesn’t necessarily means that there’ll be daily chapters. I don't own the rights to the cover image, and will immediatly take it down if the author requires so. Every chapter will be at least 2000 words. And congratulations to anyone who guesses on which language the chapter titles are written in.
