《Fusion Online》Chapter 13: Quality Time

Heather hummed a Christmas song as she cleaned her house. I should be a little bit more accurate. I mean Mansion. It is three stories tall, one floor for everything. The living room was at the first floor, as well a the kitchen, T.V room, small gym, and more. The second is filled with bedrooms. From the master bedroom taking one eight of the whole floor, and many other decent sized guest rooms.
"Will Ian like to red or green." Heather thinks aloud, deciding what color the table mantle should be. After a few minutes of thinking, she finally chooses red and touches the mantle piece, a mini menu popping up. She moves her thin finger to the color section and chooses the color red.
"Good. Now what should I make for dinner?" She questions, walking to the kitchen. "Let's see. We can have turkey with mash potatoes...and corn. Yea that should be good." She decides, taking out the ingredients for the meal from the pantry and fridge. She places them in a counter and prepares the meal, placing the turkey in the oven and heats up the corn in the microwave. For the mash potatoes, she heats them up and then opens its mini menu. Once the white screen is shown, she simply holds a knife and press the option 'mashed'. Heather sighs. Cooking is overly simplified on the game. She prefers actually cutting the food and doing all the steps back in the real world. Nevertheless, she continues cooking.
"Alright. Now for dessert. I think we should some carrot cake...and chocolate cake...and vanilla...yea, that sounds good." She happily tells herself, taking out the ingredients and placing them together. She presses a button on a small white screen next to her and turns the ingredients into the cakes she wanted.
"I think we have the food set." She says, grabbing the corn from the microwave and the other platter with food and takes it to the long rectangular table in the dining room. "I just hope Ian will like this." She murmurs to herself, losing a little bit of joy thinking that he might be disgusted by her food.
"No no, keep a positive thought on this. He will like it." She starts talking to herself, trying to give herself moral support. "We ate carrot cake before we defended Kamino and after we defended Kamino from the CIS. We ate turkey in Wayland for thanksgiving with all our friends, so naturally we also ate mashed potatoes and corn. And lastly the chocolate cake vanilla. Who doesn't likes chocolate or vanilla!" She starts naming all the times she and Ian ate the food she prepared. "Wow...I can remember what we ate and when we ate it...that's creepy." She calls her self creepy.

"I mean it's not that I like him! I think...alright I'm 18 so what IF I do like him." She talks with herself, walking to the kitchen. "There's nothing wrong in that. It's natural." She keeps up her conversation, placing things away. "He's a nice guy. He's strong and has nice eyes...and hair..." She states Ian's qualities. "He cares about others. He's a gentleman and a fighter." She finishes saying all his good attributes. She walks back to the dining room. The dining room is a very fancy decorated room. It has a silver chandelier hanging from the ceiling, nice dark, polished oak planks for floor. The walls colored cream to counter the dark floor.
A doorbell ringing fills the house, sending joy to the bottom of Heather's heart. "He's here!" She says, skipping to the door. "Wait...I'm not even dressed. What should I wear." She tells herself, opening her clothing menu. She scrolls down for any dresses she may have. She eventually finds one that she likes and clicks on it, her body surrounded by a white light before disappearing, revealing Heather to be wearing a long, sleeveless purple dress with a black sash from going from her right shoulder to her left waist.
Heather opens the door to reveal Ian wearing a black suit and a golden colored tie, black pants with a belt, its buckle trimmed with gold.
"Hey." Ian says, smiling upon seeing Heather. "Hi." Heather happily replies. "You look beautiful." Ian complements, causing Heather to blush lightly. "Thank you." She replies. "You look handsome yourself." She complements back, hoping that's what you say.
"May I come in or do I need to freeze outside first?" Ian asks, the temperature being below freezing. "Of course! Come on." Heather says, walking inside and followed by Ian. "Nice place." Ian says, admiring the house. He has never owned a house, he usually just stays in hotels.
Heather closes the door. "Yea well...the Senate Commando pays me a lot for being second in command." She says, walking towards Ian. "I guess they do. Speaking of which, Calem won't murder me for having dinner with you, right? I mean, he has been asking you out several times before so-" Ian says, quickly being interrupted. "Whatever Calem and I had," Heather begins in a bit of annoyance in her tone. ", is over. That should've been clear when I told him. But Calem thinking he's a hot shot and all, he keeps pestering me." She finishes.

"Alright. And sorry for bringing him up." Ian apologizes, but gets a annoyed glare from Heather instead. "H-how about we eat." Ian says, not wanting to make her mad. "Of course." Heather says, walking to the dinning table. Ian, somehow getting gentlemen skills from who knows where, pulls out Heather's seat so she can sit in it. "Thank you." Heather thanks, taking her seat. Ian smiles and walks to his and sits down.
Ian grabs his knife and fork and begins eating the turkey. After his first bite, his face turns serious and into deep thought. "I-is something wrong?" Heather asks, scared that's she messed up on the food. "...this is...AMAZING!" Ian says, eating quickly. He has never tasted anything better than Heather's food. "Slow down, you're going to choke." Heather tells him. Ian slows down, but half his plate is already empty. "Sorry..." Ian apologizes, looking down in a bit of shame. "It's ok. Just don't eat to fast." Heather says, taking a bite out of her food.
"Three years..." Heather murmurs to herself, thinking about how long she has been caged in this game. "It's been that long hasn't it." Ian starts a conversation from her statement. "Yes. It has." She says, not very happy. "It's just that...it's not been three years and I already fell like if this is where I've lived all my life." Heather says, finishing her food. "Same." Ian states, already finished with his food. "Ian...may I ask you something?" Heather asks, wanting to ask him a serious question. "Yea. What is it." Ian gives her permission to ask away.
"Why did you get this game?" Heather asks, causing Ian to shift to his right a little bit uncomfortable. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to upset you, I just want-" Heather begins her quick apology, but is stopped by Ian.
"Both my parents died in a car crash when I was 5." Ian begins saying his life story. "Ever since, I didn't know what to do. Until one day, my best friend introduced me to video game and I...I loved them. I spent all my time in them. I liked them so much that I even developed a few mobile games so I can play whenever I'm bored. I liked video games because they made me forget about everything I knew about the world and be in a world that I can make a difference in." Ian finishes his long speech.
Heather nods. She has learned something personal to Ian. Heather feels sad from the story. She would've never guessed that's the reason Ian would play video games. Now it's her turn to tell her story.
"My parents are business people. They always pressure me to be perfect and what not. They want me to continue their business but...I don't want too. So when I told them that they said to marry someone that's rich. So they started looking at friends with children around my age that could marry me. The thing is, all the boys are...not good to say the least. Playing video games is an escape for me so I can forget about things that I do in real life." Heather tells her reason for playing video games.
"But enough about sad talks. How about some dessert?" Heather says, walking to the kitchen and grabbing the cakes. "Sounds good." Ian replies as Heather places the cakes on the table. Ian grabs a slice of the carrot cake and takes a bite out of it. He slowly chews his dessert, tasting the rich flavors. Soon after he notices how good the cake is, he starts eating it in a quick, but appropriate, manner. Heather eats some of her chocolate cake. "This is really good." Ian says, finishing his slice and the mini cake she prepared. Heather giggles at seeing Ian's face. His mouth is covered in crumbs. "What? Is something on my face?" Ian asks, acting dumb. "Just a little." Heather says, grabbing a napkin and wiping it off his face. "There." She sits back down. Ian checks his watch. 2 AM Christmas Day. "Well. It's been a nice day, thanks for the food. It was delicious." Ian says, standing up. "I'll walk you out." Heather quickly says, walking with him to the door.
"See you around." Ian says, already outside. "Bye." Heather waves and closes the door once Ian is gone.
