《Fusion Online》Chapter 9: Weapon Upgrade

Jackie places two newly DMR's inside a glass display shelf. She smiles proudly at herself, for she has made no ordinary DMR's, but a recon DMR with silencer and a noble skinned DMR. She turns away from the display shelf and walks to the back room, the place where she makes all her weapons. Jackie begins to hum a song aloud, for it helps her concentrate and focus on her tasks. The teen takes a seat, in front of her is a metal rectangular table with parts and pieces of a gun lies on the smooth surface of the table. She quickly begins crafting a new weapon, working slowly and making sure that all the pieces are in correct order. She wants the weapon to be powerful, stable, and perfect.
A bell rings as its chime echoes inside the building. "A new customer!" Jackie giggles happily as she stands up and skips to a door that separates the back room from the shop. The young brunette opens the door and smiles. "Welcome to Jackie's Weapon Store!." She introduces herself and the store happily. "How may I help you?" She asks, wanting to assist the costumer that has entered her shop. "How's it going Jackie." The customer says, taking off his helmet and placing it on top of wide and tall glass display case. "Ian!" Jackie says in both shock and happy to see the player. "Yea it's me. Did you not want to see me?" The green eye teen says, making the last part sound a bit sad. "N-no, not at all! I just thought you where...you know...not coming back." Jackie shifts to her left side, her right hand rubbing her left arm, and her head looking down at the floor.
"Why would I not come back?" Ian asks, curious at why his friend would think that. "Well...there's better weapon specialist than me out there...and I'm in Wayland. A beginning planet." She slowly and sadly explains, her head staring into the small cracks of the floor. Ian chuckles at this.
"Jackie, your better than almost all the gunsmith I've visited in the past few months. None of them could do what you did to my Westars or to my Battle Rifle. You make Warzone Requisition Weapons. Your like...how do I say this...the best of the best." The Mandalorian says, complementing the girl in front of her. Jackie looks up, her eyes lighting up with joy. "R-really?" She asks. No one has ever complemented her, nor has she known that she is one of the only weapon specialist that makes Warzone Requisition Weapons. Ian nods at her question, causing Jackie to jump up and down for a few seconds in joy.
"Anyway. What can I do for you?" The brunette asks, now extremely motivated to help. "Well. I wanted to see if you can make improvements with my pistols." Ian places his duel Westars next to his helmet. Jackie walks to the display case and grabs the Westars. She places her index finger a few inches above the weapon and moves her finger to the right in a swiping motion. A small white screen appears with the pistol's stats. "No...they are practically at the highest they can be. Any higher and you'll need a new energy source for them." Jackie states, placing one hand on her hip and looking at Ian.

Ian frowns while looking at his weapons. He shakes his hand and smiles. "Well, never mind then. I should've known that they are at their best. I should really stop asking for miracles." Ian apologizes at the request he made. "Anyway, thanks for telling me about it." The teen puts his helmet on and places his blasters back on their holsters. The Mandalorian turns around and starts walking towards the exit.
"W-wait!" Jackie says. "I think I can still do something about it." She grabs Ian's hand, causing him to stop and look back. Ian looks at her confused, for didn't she just say that there's nothing that could improve the twin Westars?
"We could go for the new power source if you want." Jackie suggest, letting go of Ian's hand. Ian looks up a bit, thinking if it would be worth the trouble. "Alright, where do I find this power source?" Ian asks, looking back to the eyes of the brunette. "Well the power source we need is in Mustafar, and it'll only spawn if...a high level...oh no." She trails off, her eyes widening in horror.
"What is it?" The Mandalorian asks, not sure why she trailed off.
"It spawns only if a high level Weapon Specialist accompanies a high level soldier." She answers
"Well, what level are you?"
"Soldier? 5. Weapon Specialist. 53." The brunette answers, clasping her right arm. "Then I guess your coming." Ian simply states, walking outside the shop. "B-but I don't fight. I just make weapons." The girl says, trying to find an excuse. "You are coming and that's final. Plus, I'll be there so you can just stay behind me." Ian counters her excuse, causing the brunette to sigh. "Alright. Fine." She says, grabbing an assault rifle and leaves the store, following the Mandalorian.
-----
"So this so the place." Ian says, looking at a separatist base several yards away from where he landed his fighter. "Yep, this is the place." Jackie climbs down, and walks next to the beta tester. "C'mon, we don't have time to waste." The Mandalorian-Spartab says, walking towards the base's doors. The doors slide up, revealing several battle droids inside that are just going by their day, which is about to get ruined. "Blast him!" One of them says, firing red lasers towards the players. Ian draws his blasters and retaliates,
Popping the droids head's one by one.
The final droid drops on the floor as Ian walks towards the central command room. The doors open, and inside the room is grey walls with yellow dim lights around the room, for windows are the main source of light from the lava underneath.
"Hey! You can't be-" A battle droid begins, but is shot at the chest twice. The other droids turn to Ian and begging the raining lasers at Ian. The player rolls to cover behind a holo-table, dodging all the lasers that would have hit him if he stood in one place. The Mandalorian takes out two droid poppers, and throws them towards his enemy. The droids stare at the round spheres curiously before the grenades release an E.M.P, disabling the droids all at once.

"That was awesome!" Jackie praises her friend. Ian stands up and chuckles, putting his blasters away. "It was nothing. Anyways, where will we find this power source?" Ian asks, making his way next to the weapon specialist. "Yea about that." Before she could continue, a captain commando droid walks inside, holding a handheld yellow Ray shield and his blaster raised, ready to fire. "It's a rare drop. Good luck!" Jackie hides behind the holo-table, her eyes just barely above the table so she can watch the battle unfold. "Great." Ian mutters, drawing his blasters. Before Ian can fire, the droid shoots Ian in the left hand, sending his blaster flying across the room. "Shit!" Ian cusses, firing at the droid. This attack is futile, for the shield absorbs its attack. The droid counterattacks, forcing Ian to run around the room, dodging the attacks. This continues for a while, Ian fires and the droid blocks and returns fire. That's when Ian gets an idea.
"Jackie! Distract it for 5 seconds!" Ian commands, sliding behind a chair. "But I'm a low level fighter!" Jackie answers back, still hiding behind the table. "Do it!" Ian orders in a cold and harsh tone. The girl gasps, for Ian has never said anything in that tone to her. Nevertheless, she brings her weapon's stock to her shoulder, aims at the droid, and pulls the trigger, sending metal bullets directly to the enemy's back. The droid flinches and places one foot in front of him for balance support. Once Jackie is out of ammo on her current clip, the robot spins around and hails fire to her. The brunette shrieks and hides behind the holo-table.
Ian then comes out of hiding, holding a M45D Tactical Shotgun, which was made by Jackie and it has kinetic barrel attachment and is painted white with green and red stripes. Ian sprints towards his enemy. With his opponent back facing him, Ian gets as close as he can. Once on range, Ian fires his shotgun, dropping the captain's health immensely. The droid turns around, ready to shoot his attacker. But Ian has slid underneath the droid, and is once again facing the back of the captain. Ian shoots the droid once more, it's healthy now in the red. The droid spins around and smacks Ian with his shield, causing him to stumble backwards, but he immediately regains his composure. The commando droid drops his shield and blaster, and pulls out a Vibro blade and swings it diagonally from right to left. The Mandalorian catches the blade in between his clapped hands. The opponent applies pressure, slowly cutting into Ian's hands. Ian's health drops ever so slowly, like a snail crossing a street. The Mandalorian grunts, for he can feel the blade tearing into his skin. He pushes the blade away from the droid, leaving the robot unarmed. Ian jumps to the droids right side, places his left hand on its shoulder, and swings to his back, his hands wrapped around the robot's neck and his chest plate pressed against the captain's back. The droids shakes frantically, trying to get the player off its back.
Ian holds tightly, not letting go as he grabs his knife quickly. The droid hears the drawing of his knife and tries his best to release himself from Ian's grip. "Die you bastard!" Ian shouts as he stabs the droid in the head, sending its HP into a massive drop and eventually to zero. The droid's body shatters like glass, a lot of tiny green shards floating around the room before disappearing, and a banner screen floats a few feet above Ian with the words 'Congratulations!' on it while a small white screen appears in front of Ian, showing his loot.
"You did it!" Jackie says, running up to the victor of the match. "Yea...and I got this." Ian shows Jackie the power source they where looking for. "But what's this?" Ian shows her two weird shards that are faintly glowing, one being yellow and the other being black. Jackie takes a look at them. "I don't know, maybe I'll find out later. But the good thing is you found the power cell!" Jackie happily says, grabbing the item. "Well, let's go back to my shop so I can add you the upgrade." Jackie says, skipping across the room and out into the dark and ashy planet.
-----
"Here you go!" Jackie says, placing the two blasters on the table. Ian walks to the table and takes his weapons, placing them away in their holsters. "Thanks, how much will that be?" Ian asks for the price, getting ready to pay. "It's free. You paid enough with the exciting adventure." She states, sitting down on a chair. "Since I don't get out much, I think this adventure was fun and not scary." Jackie adds to her statement. "Alright, if you say so." Ian says, walking to the door. "Oh wait! I figured out what the other things were for. I sent them to your vault so they should be there." The girl in pink shirt says, standing up. The green eye teen opens his menu and looks through his vault section to find two items. Ian's jaw drops at the sight. "Thanks! I owe you big time!" Ian says, not controlling his joy.
"Well, you can pay me with one thing." She says, walking up to Ian. "And what will that be?" Ian asks, wanting to repay his friend for everything she has done for him. "Let me be your personal gunsmith. I'll repair your weapons, make new ones, anything, but only me. Deal?" Jackie says the price, placing both her hands on Ian's shoulders. Ian wastes no time in responding. "Of course!" He says. If that's the price then he would more then gladly do as she says.
"Well, see you later." Ian walks outside the store and gets on his fighter. He begins launch off sequences and in seconds, he leaves the surface and begins his ascent towards space. Jackie smiles as she walks inside her shop, ready to serve her next customer.

An Unwavering Craftsman
Given the hereditary nature of classes, everyone expects Damien—the child of two high-tiered adventurers—to be granted a high-tier combat class of his own. Expectations are betrayed, however, when Damien finds himself instead saddled with a crafting class of the lowest possible tier: [Neophyte Tailor]. Left practically crippled compared to those with better classes, Damien wants to avoid becoming a pawn in the machinations of the nobility, desiring only to grind his level in peace while wondering why the usual rules of inheritance were broken. Was it his desire to excel by his own effort, rather than an unearned blessing from a god? Did the Five take offence at his opinions on the unfairness of hereditary classes? Or maybe it was something to do with the alien voice that intruded on his ceremony? A voice that offers great power, and freedom from the tyranny of the Five, but that never names its price. This story is litRPG-lite. While the class someone possesses controls most of their lives, people don't get dinged at for every level they gain, nor can they see their status without undergoing a special ritual. The MC has no romantic interest. Crafting is merely a way to game the system, and doesn't feature heavily in the story, aside from a few descriptions on how they're carrying out the system abuse. There is, on one unfortunate occasion, maths. The pace is quick. This was a participant in the Spring 2022 writathon. (i.e. it was posted as-written at high speed. I may give it another editing pass in the future.)

Map created by Maximeplasse This fiction is based on my play-per-post RP that I've run before but with my own take on summoned characters and dungeon settings. At certain points I'll also allow reader decisions if the story gets popular enough. xD It's unrelated to the D&D Theron setting; Telduria I just liked the name and the map when I started up the RP back in the day.
