《Hillbilly x Reader [A Dead By Daylight Fanfiction]》Chapter 8: Sorrowful Suicide.

You flicked to the next page in your book, your mind fixated on making a plan to find Claudette and Dwight. They had to be somewhere and dammit, you will find them!Billy suddenly left the basement, presumably to search the area for survivors so they don't take you away - and you seized your chance.
Creeping up the stairs, you exited the basement and left the house completely, feeling nervous as you only heard the breeze ruffling the corn.
You jumped as you heard Billy roar in rage and bit your lip; feeling like you'd betrayed him in some way. But he left you no other choice. Another generator got done and you tensed up when the revving of a chainsaw sounded.
"I need to head towards that generator." You thought aloud and headed towards it. You ducked behind some barrels as Billy got there first, and held your breath fearfully when he stormed past with fury.
"(Y/n)!" A voice called out feebly and you saw Dwight crouching behind a wooden wall.
"Dwight!" You sighed in relief and felt bad as he limped towards you.
"What happened...?" You gasped as you saw that his leg was bleeding heavily.
"The chainsaw man hacked his stone hammer thing into my leg...hurts like hell." He explained shakily, panting as he rested for a minute.
"Oh my god... I'm sorry..." You apologised hurriedly.
"Why are you apologising? It's not your fault (Y/n)." Dwight smiled warmly and you decided to tell him about Billy.
"There's something I have to tell you about Bil-the unnamed son." You blurted out quickly and he frowned.
"What, other than him being a violent and crazed maniac?" He joked quietly, grasping his leg in pain.
"He's only attacking you because you're doing the generators... I know I told you to do them but I made a deal with him so you can stop doing them now." You told him nervously as he took it all in.

"What did you agree to?" Dwight inquired curiously and you sighed again.
"I told him that if he let you guys go, I'd stay here with him." You explained truthfully, rubbing your arms in discomfort.
"You can't! It's not safe!" He argued immediately and you avoided his gaze.
"I don't have a choice." You replied despairingly and he grabbed your hand.
"You do. Help us to the generators. We can get out." Dwight remarked optimistically as you shook your head.
"No...Jake got us into this mess and I'm going to fix it so at least some of us survive." You told him sharply, trying to pull your hand away and blinking back tears.
"(Y/n)..." He said your name soothingly and pulled you into a warm embrace. You froze as you heard an enraged screech and Billy sped towards you.
"Dwight move!" You pushed him away frantically and he staggered back - just in time as Billy rammed his chainsaw into the pile of tires.
"" Billy snarled possessively and went after Dwight.
"Billy stop!" You yelled loudly, but he was too focused on killing Dwight. Dwight threw down a palette just as Billy tried to hit him with the hammer and he growled in frustration.
"Billy!" You repeated anxiously, and went up to him bravely as he broke the barricade with his foot. Unfortunately he was giving all of his attention on chasing Dwight, so you had to do something drastic.
"Please stop! Please, I'm begging you!" You begged hysterically, running up to him and wrapping your arms around his chest. Billy looked very surprised but still tried to swing at Dwight; who was also standing there in shock.
"Please. I promised you I'd stay here as long as you let my friends go! Don't kill anyone else, I can't handle it!" You cried desperately as you tightened your grip around his waist, shaking with fright.

"" He said your name softly, actually getting it right without any pauses and rested his head on yours.
"Promise me you'll let them go. Promise me!" You demanded wildly, your heart hammering with uneasiness. He raised his head slightly and nodded, making you feel relieved.
"I'm so confused." Dwight mumbled weakly, and you turned to face him.
"You'd be inhuman if you weren't." You laughed quietly, mimicking Claudette. Billy glared at him jealously and you put a hand on his chest, warningly.
"Easy..." You told him faintly, looking at him.
"We need to find Claudette." You said to Dwight firmly, and he nodded.
"The last time I saw her, she was by the cow tree freaking out." He answered honestly.
"Can you take us there?" You questioned Billy shyly and he nodded. He started going and he was so fast you and Dwight had a hard time keeping up with him. Finally, you arrived at the cow tree where you didn't hear anything.
No crying.
No breathing.
Nothing.
"Damn! She's not here." You exclaimed in disappointment as Dwight looked around.
"No...she is..." His voice trembled with misery and you walked over to him.
"What are you talking-?" You stopped and saw Claudette on the ground...lifeless.
"No! Claudette! Not you too!" You moaned sadly, your eyes filling with tears.
"Did you do this?!" You snapped suspiciously to Billy, who shook his head. You couldn't tell if he was lying, so you just stared at her dead body in shock.
"(Y/n)...there's a note." Dwight suddenly remarked, snatching a crumpled letter off of the ground.
Dear (Y/n) (and anyone else who is still alive),
Thanks for saving me back there from that killer. But I can't take this anymore... I'm just not gonna make it - I only slowed you down when you needed to escape. I think it's my fault, because I put you in danger. So, I'm going to put an end to this misery... Thank you for being one of my closest friends.
Sincerely,
Claudette x
".'So, I'm going to put an end to this misery, thank you for being one of my closest friends. Sincerely, Claudette' ?! No!" You finished reading and your eyes filled with tears.
"I didn't think she'd ever just...give up!" Dwight gritted his teeth as he tried not to cry and glanced away.
"I-I..." You choked and knelt beside her dead body, shaking.
"I'm sorry Claudette, I'm so so sorry."

Tabula Rasa : An Unbound Adventure
It starts as many things do: a clean slate, an empty page. What once was set in stone and wholly writ is gone, and all that's left is the vague notion of absence, a fullness lacking. The feeling of being tetherless, pathless, without direction or responsibility is something many would find terrifying. Others might find it freeing - an opportunity to strike out on new adventures and explore the unknown.Either way, first they have to figure out where they are and how they leave. ====== My first novel on this platform! An avid GameLit/LitRPG fan, I decided to start writing this when I seemed to exhaust all of my options for well reviewed content on the site! Inspiration for the world/general feeling is a mix of Azarinth Healer, Abyssal Road Trip, Winterborn, and the Power of Ten series, with a strong reliance on 3.5 and PF1 frameworks as a scaffold for the world. I see Arc 1 as a Robinson Crusoe style coming to terms scenario, lots of exploration of the System, the MC's options, the island and encounters with the denizens and visitors of the Timeless Isle, with a non-zero amount of introspection around their long term goals. I'll publish as frequently as I'm able but don't have a regular cadence planned at the moment.
