"𝚠𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚍𝚘𝚎𝚜 𝚑𝚎 𝚠𝚊𝚗𝚝 𝚠𝚒𝚝𝚑 𝚞𝚜?"
about her father's recent announcement that she was going to become chancellor even before she was allowed to drink. She needed a place to chill out as preparations for what she was going to do when she takes over were already being made by her father.
She snuck out of her room while her father was in a serious conversation with Commander Shumway. She knew how to sneak out, sometimes she just needed to get away.
She watched as Commander Shumway and her father headed to the extra room that used to hold her mother's stuff for sewing, by heart her mother was poor and she grew up poor. The only reason she ever got out was because she married Marcus Kane, who blood ran deep with power of the Ark. Lucy's profession was still seamstress, and even though they didn't need the money, she still found a certain humbling when she would stitch.
Anastasia remembered the days where she would sit and watch her mother sew all day. That was before her father instilled in her a form of greatness, and that was back when she still had her mother to stand up for her. She snuck out pass the kitchen and quietly opened the front door, before closing it behind her. Anastasia took a deep breath knowing that she got away. She had escaped, for know, but soon they would be no escape for the hell of being chancellor, daddy's little proxy.
Anastasia shot up feeling a pain in her head as she groaned as the pain filtered to her ankle, that ache more than Anastasia has ever felt before. She looked around to find herself in the middle of what looked like to be the grounders den, he had little trinkets everywhere but the majority of it was just bland stone. The objects that laid around his cave were reminiscent of old human life, a little toy car stood against a stack of books, all dusty and worn out.
The car was made out of wood, something that up till Anastasia stepped on earth, she hadn't seen. Only heard up and saw pictures, but she the only books she knew of were hidden from when the original citizen's of the Ark left earth. Most of the things she's read was from tablets, and screens. A glowing light was on the other side of the cave leading towards a turn in the stone that blocked Anastasia from seeing anything pass it.
"Octavia?" Anastasia questioned herself as she turned her head to the side to find Octavia sitting next to her, passed out on the ground. Octavia's condition was far worse than hers, with a huge cut around her knee that would prohibit any running at all.
She sat up tending to Octavia the best she could after realizing that she wasn't chained up. Octavia's face was cleaned up, but her knee was more ugly. She tried to touch it to get a better feel, but the only she did was send Octavia up screaming in pain.
"Anastasia?" Octavia questioned wrapping her arms around the familiar face. She immediately became frazzled realizing she wasn't in the drop ship but stuck in a grounder's cave. Her breath quicken as she saw the beast, or grounder emerge from the light hold a glowing sword. Anastasia noticed her worried face turning to also see the grounder as he came further away from the light. He was heading for Octavia, with the look of killer, and in a quick call of judgment. Anastasia jumped in front of the knife, blocking Octavia as she tried to get up instantly falling back down hard to the ground, groaning at the feeling of her leg burning. The grounder gave Anastasia a furious looking pushing her aside, sending her falling the floor as her slowly began to fade listening to the screams of Octavia.

"You know, you're sitting where i need to clean" a voice uttered causing Anastasia to look up to see a janitor standing in front of her. He looked familiar but she couldn't place him.
"Oh, sorry" She replied standing up and walking to the side ready to continue down the hallways of the ark before a guard found her to bring her back to her power hungry father.
"I mean you don't have to move for me, princess" the janitor called back at her slightly raising his voice so he could hear her. She turned around to look at him, he was of course older than her, or at least 18 because he had a job in the ark. His hair was hidden behind the hat he worn but she could tell it was brown from the little fly away popping out. He had deep brown eyes, but a rough exterior, he would make a good guard.
"I'm no princess" she replied, the entire princess thing started from her father's pet name, and now that's what they call her, but no usually to her face.
"Closest thing to royalty, we have, you live the easy life, embrace it" he answered getting the mop out.
"My life isn't easy" she retorted with a laugh, making the janitor give her a look of disbelief, before going back to cleaning the floors. She scoffed before stomping off done the hallway.
The disrespect, she thought, continuing down the hallway before reaching the end she was allowed to be in. Behind the door laid the factory section, or the poor section. She had never seen it, only on diagrams from the olden days when the ark was drawn up after the merger. Her hand was placed on the door as she was about to open it, she thought it she was about to become chancellor she should at least know what majority of the Ark went through.
"Anastasia!" She heard her father screamed at the top of his lungs as he ran down the hall. He yanked her arm away from the door, "I told you to never go there, and you're disobeying me know!" He screamed again causing all eyes to be on them, as soon as he noticed he dragged her down the hallway towards their "home".
Anastasia woke up with another aching headache but this time her head was bleeding again, probably from the hard fall to the ground when the grounder pushed her.
After she got her bearings together her thoughts instantly went to Octavia, sliding over to her, seeing her chest fall indicating her breathing. Which meant she was still breathing. Her eyes danced over to her knee which was patched up, poorly but it was still fixed. Why would a grounder help her, he definitely didn't look like the nicest type of person with his overbearing frame and his face that showed of a warrior and not a healer.
"Octavia!" Anastasia slightly whispered shaking her awake, "Octavia!" pushing her harder finally shaking her awake. She woke up gasping from fear as she shot up. She groaned reaching her fingers back down to her knee showing that it still her. Octavia's eyes turned questioning when she saw the patch work.
"He fixed it?" She asked looking at Anastasia, as she glided her fingers over it.
"Can you move it?" Anastasia asked her, as Octavia began bending her knee showing that it moved, but it didn't come without a few hisses in pain.
"We have to go" Anastasia replied, noticing that her leg was bearable, and would do till they got back to camp.

Camp, Bellamy, she thought instinctively as she guided his sister up onto her feet, not letting go of her till she was stable. She knew by now that he would have noticed Octavia gone, and would have started a hunt, and from the looks of her and Octavia kidnapper, it wasn't safe for him to be out there.
If they're kidnapping them now, what would stop them from plucking them off one by one as they handed themselves to the grounders.
"Hello?" Octavia questioned snapping Anastasia out of her daze, showing the antlers she grabbed using as a weapon as she headed down a corridor, quickly followed by Anastasia. Octavia was struggling as she shuffled her leg aside her other slowly moving to take a break. Anastasia landed a hand on Octavia's shoulder for support but it was quickly shoved off, as Octavia continued.
"I don't need your help, i don't need Bellamy's help" Octavia said, looking at the caged entrance, a few feet above them, covered by foliage.
Octavia started shaking the bar, trying to pry it open. She jumped on to the bars shaking them more vigorously before slipping off, collapsing to the floor with a thud groaning in pain as she reached for her knee.
"Octavia!" Anastasia screamed falling to her side, "are you okay" she questioned holding out her hand.
"I'm fine" Octavia breathed out lifting herself up, "we're going to have to find another way out", struggling to walk as she headed back to the main area, slipping on water that had trickled in.
"Wait" Anastasia muttered turning towards where Octavia slipped, looking at the leaking rocks. She touched the mossy rock sliding out of the moss as it easy moved. Anastasia smiled lightly as Octavia helped pulling out the now loose rocks.
Sliding the last rock to the floor as the as clear opening to the outside was revealed. Anastasia lifted Octavia up first moving holding herself towards the hole as she began sliding through.
The pathway seemed longer than it looked as they moved through slowly, the hole changed widths constantly becoming smaller and larger. Rodents and bugs ran around Anastasia's hand, crawling all over her as she slid through spiderwebs.
The feeling was uncomfortable and terrifying as the air became thick and compress making breathing hard. The opening to the outside no longer was clear as the claustrophobia was slowly become bigger.
"I'm not afraid, I'm not afraid" Octavia began muttering quietly as she picked up sped through the tunnel before falling out of it into a sunny grassy floor.
Anastasia fell out after sighing as she took a deep breath before smiling at the sun. The heat against her skin felt great, and she didn't mind the blinding effect the sun created on her eyes after spending a night trapped in the grounder's cave.
Octavia quickly pulled her to towards the bushes watching for the grounder that dragged them down there. When they're was no sign of him, they got moving in any direction hoping it would lead them to the camp.
Anastasia quickly walked behind Octavia, letting her take her time with her knee. Dodging into the bushes whenever they heard a sound in the woods. They made it to a clear enough opening keeping to the trees around it making sure they would go unnoticed. A scream echoed around the forest, causing Anastasia grip to a tree looking towards to middle of the area.
She searched around for the source before feeling her mouth be gripped by a rough hand looking up to see the grounder as he held onto Octavia's mouth too, moving them down as the hid blending in with the forest. As a girl who came from the drop ship ran in away from the direction Octavia and Anastasia were headed looking backwards in fear only to be speared to a tree, like Jasper, only this time they didn't miss. The girl was dead on sight, Anastasia watched in horror.
He let them go afterwards nodding with his head to follow him as he led them back where they came from. Hesitantly they followed slowly, as Octavia's limp was getting worst.
"what does he want with us?" Anastasia whispered to Octavia as they stayed behind him watching him every once and awhile look back to check on them.
"I don't know" Octavia replied, leaning against a tree, the grounder looked back at Octavia stopping with a death glare, "my leg, i need to rest" she said watching the grounder approach her with no remorse picking her up nodding to Anastasia to follow.
"Thank you" Octavia said looking at the grounder, "you saved my life, and Anastasia's" the grounder looked back and Anastasia huffing before facing forward again, "that girl back there i knew her, so if she's here, then so is my brother" Octavia added, "please you have to help him, they'll kill him" she pleaded, Anastasia shook at the thought of Bellamy's dead body, imaging him killed just like the girl was, Octavia huffed annoyed, "you don't understand me, do you?" She asked still getting no reply, "great" she answered looking at the distance ahead.
The rest of the distance back was taken in silence beside from some glances that Octavia and Anastasia send to each other each time the saw something worth noticing. The grounder dropped Octavia when they reach the bars, with no effort her open it up, picking up Octavia again followed by Anastasia, before reaching back to closed it, before taking them both back to where the woke up. He dropped Octavia to the floor.
"Why are you taking care of us?" Octavia asked, "you found us at the bottom of the ravine, fixed my knee" she said following him with her eyes as he walked around the cave looking for something. When he found it her went up to Anastasia pushing her down to the ground with force before grabbing her and Octavia's wrist, "what the hell are you doing?" Octavia asked watching him pull out chains as he began violently wrapping up their wrist
"No, please, stop it, stop" they both pleaded as he dragged them to a hook locking them to the cave. Before grabbing his spear and heading out. Anastasia felt fearful as she knew her time was probably going to end soon, but also she feared for Bellamy's life scared that the grounder that locked them up was going to go after him after Octavia mention him.
"We need a plan" Octavia spoke trying to rip herself out of the chains.
"Something other than dislocating our wrist" Anastasia replied looking at Octavia, "You already have a fucked up knee, don't add your wrists to the equation" she added.
"Sassy" Octavia replied stopping, "I like it on you"
Anastasia began looking around, hoping that he dumbly put them near one of his weapons. Instead she found a loose rock, she reached for it struggling to grab hold of it.
"Here" Anastasia said handing it off to Octavia as it weighed her hands down, "when he comes back hit him in the head"
"Why me?" Octavia questioned as a sound of the foghorn could be heard from outside.
"Because, he likes you" Anastasia replied quickly seeing him come back down signaled by the slam of the trap door.
He came back down setting down his spear, before kneeing to Octavia. He stared at her, as Octavia came to meet him in the eyes.
She clutched the rock in her hand before putting all her power at slamming him in the head with the rock, he groaned but was still conscious before Octavia hit him again as he dropped to the floor.
Octavia dropped the rock seeing the key lay open in his hand. She reached for it grabbing it as she began to fiddle with it, trying to stick it into the lock. She stopped when she heard the trap door slam again, Anastasia watched the corner, seeing Bellamy emerge from it.
"Bellamy?" Octavia said
" Octavia" he replied as he rushed in between them.
"Get the key" Octavia said handing it to him as him squatted in between them.
"Monroe, watch the entrance" Bellamy said fiddling with the key as he eventually broke the lock, letting both Anastasia and Octavia go. The siblings wrapped each other in a hug. As Bellamy looked at Anastasia through it, she gripped her wrist feeling the freedom as weird. They broke from the hug as Octavia saw Jasper limping to him.
"How did you find us?"
"Followed him" Jasper replied pulling Octavia into a hug.
"You okay?" Bellamy asked laying a hand on Anastasia shoulder.
"Yeah, I'm fine" she replied walking towards the entrance.
"We should go now, before he wakes up" Anastasia said heading for the exit.
"He's not gonna wake up" Bellamy said lifting up the spear that belong to the grounder, aiming for him.
"Bellamy! Stop!" Octavia said grabbing him, "he didn't hurt us, let's go"
"They started this" Bellamy said, "Finn, Move" he commanded noticing that Finn was kneeling in front of the grounder, examining his things. Out of nowhere the grounder stabs Finn, causing him to fall down to the floor as the grounder popped up taking over the spear that Bellamy had pushing Bellamy to the ground as he held the spear to his neck close the puncturing him. Anastasia watched in horror, as the grounder showed no emotion holding the spear.
"Stop! That's my brother!" Octavia yelled after she pulled Finn the the side with help from Anastasia. He didn't listen as he moved the spear closely, Anastasia could see that Bellamy was losing grip on the spear, and she couldn't do anything about it. The grounder dropped to the floor unexpectedly as Jaspers stood behind him with a rock in his hand before dropping it. Anastasia rushed to Bellamy picking him up, while the others were huddled around Finn.
"You okay" Anastasia asked.
"Yeah" he replied walking to Finn.
Jasper already had his hand on the knife, gripping it with two hands, arching his back, Anastasia could tell what he was going to do.
"Stop!" She yelled, causing Jasper to look up, "don't take it out" she said, as Jasper took his hands off it, "we need to hurry" she uttered.
Bellamy picked Finn up, as Jasper helped Octavia walk balancing him on her. Anastasia knew that Finn didn't have much time, he was lucky to be alive right now. She just hoped to get to the camp on time, to save his life but the real questioned that popped in her head was if she could save his life.
"What happened to you guys?" Bellamy asked Anastasia as they trekked through the forest.
"I don't remember much, i was blacked out for most of it" Anastasia answered looking up to him.
"And you're sure you're okay" Bellamy questioned.
"We shouldn't be worrying about me, Finn needs to be our main priority" Anastasia replied checking that he still had a pulse.
"You can't save him if you're died" Bellamy replied, as the borderline of the camp could be seen in the horizon.
"Clarke!" Jasper screamed opening up the camp gates, "where's clarke!, get clarke now!" He commanded dragging Octavia in.
"Hey" Clarke said running up to them, "I'm here, what's up", Bellamy held Finn up as he walked through.
"Finn" Clarke said running up to him,"Finn, oh my god, oh my god" she said as the tears verged on her eyes.
"He's alive" Anastasia said as Clarke check for a pulse
"Anastasia wouldn't let me take out the knife" Jasper said watching Clarke's eyes drift to it.
"No, that's a good idea" Clarke replied looking up to Anastasia, who looked more beaten than she had ever, "get him to the drop ship now! , Go!" Clarke screamed
"Clarke, can you save him?" A girl came up to her landing a hand on her shoulder. Clarke looked to Anastasia, with a hopeless glance.
"No, not me"Clarke replied, looking to Anastasia.
"What?" She questioned, "i can't, i need your mother, i need to talk to her"
"There's still no radio" the girl replied
"Raven, fix it!" Clarke screamed, "Go!" The girl, Raven took off to the drop ship
"Hey, you okay?" Clarke asked Anastasia holding a hand out to her.
"Yeah" Anastasia replied, as Clarke took her to the drop ship, but not before Anastasia caught a glimpse of what looked like the being of an Blake sibling argument.

BODY&SHADOW
AN ILLUSTRATED NOVEL • UPDATES TUESDAY AND FRIDAY In a time before living memory, the King Dragon of the Void watched the world and realized there was a crack. He realized that humanity was destroying the rock upon which they lived; they leaked life’s code into the churning chaos. At first the change was imperceptible: nanites overtook microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, amoebas. Insects became increasingly inorganic; birds and lizards followed soon after. Even humans were infected by their own advances, cell by cell, till there was not a person left on earth who wasn’t at least part synthetic, the product of a prior generation’s carelessness. The world’s population was ravaged by mechanical viruses with no vaccines; they were mercilessly overtaken by bacteria that knew no death. Soon, most of the planet was empty and only a handful remained who remembered the hedonist realm they came from; only a few were left who remembered what the world looked like when their buildings touched the sky. The King Dragon of the Void watched the rock turn. He watched humans cower as the Old World fell down around them; watched their great monuments crumble into dusty ruins; watched their codes become precious, ancient gem memories forged under the crushing pressure of so many fallen stones. The world has spun many times around the sun since chaos swallowed man whole. It is a simpler time than the one that died out, but the people now are not immune to the folly of the people before. There is old code everywhere: in the water, in the air, in the trees. The heart of man has been replaced by power cores, many of which are hard-coded with preternatural abilities—when they die, an esoteric mountain sect collects their cores and stores them in their hollow mountain home to preserve the sanctity and dignity of human death. They’ve learned to harness artifacts of the old world, gemstones full of codes their nanite infused bodies can parse as spells imbuing their users with great power; they inlay them into their bodies, into their skins, connected to their cores by copper conduit and gold tracers; they dress themselves in tattoos to advertise their prowess; they battle for relics in arenas, fight for them in the open world wherever they are found. The King Dragon of the Void watches the rock turn and wonders: when will this hunger finally make the rock stop spinning? WELCOME TO FANXING CITY … Twenty-five years ago, Fanxing City and the surrounding lands were commanded by the mad King Zao Beiguan. For many years, the King hoarded wealth, artifacts, food; he demanded tribute from a people already taxed to the edges of their existence and expected they be happy with their circumstances. Noncompliance was often punished harshly, bodies displayed proudly on Fanxing’s streets as a warning, from the city gates to the Zao palace’s golden doors. The youths of several prominent clans came together to overthrow the tyrant and made names for themselves as legendary heroes across the land: Tian, Ren, Feng, Gui, Ma, and Zhenxi. Even wanderers from the Luanshi sect descended from Yunji mountain to aid the rebellion. When the dust settled after three years, Tian Yunyong ascended the throne of Fanxing and swore to honour his slain father’s memory, and has maintained Fanxing’s peace with generosity and mercy where fear and cruelty once reigned.

Many souls do find themselves brave enough to face the vast distances, the various risks to personal safety and do the hundreds of task required on a craft. However, at times the void itself can be boring with absolutely nothing to do but as time pass and more and better technology is reached, things got better. Through the various planets whether rocky or gaseous, the various stars whether small or giant, the various systems both eerily similar or completely alien. As part of an expeditionary scientific exploratory survey craft, one could see that the void offers no reprieve from all the discoveries and wonders. At times, it can feel empty and silent where no soul can hear you scream and at others it can be overwhelming with sudden phenomenon that can overwhelm the brightest of minds. The void itself is a truly fascinating ocean where one must chart the various islands or drown in its deadly tidal waves. But the question still remained no matter how you try to hide it in of itself… is there truly other intelligent life out there? Are we alone in this ocean? Those very questions still haunt the minds of those on the crafts themselves as they brace for every jump ready for the unknown and the known. Many would try to explain that yes there is other intelligent life out there whilst other still say no after 2 centuries of continuous flight out of the home system. Still, those are questions that bury deep in the minds of the crew and those at home as the voidcraft jumps to a system with a single yellow star orbited by 8 other planets with one crowning blue jewel being the 3rd closest with its 5 oceans and 7 continents, a planet called Dirt which is inhabited by a primitive species called Humanity. Hello, author here and this is my newest dive into writing particularly for the Writathon currently in progress being my first one. I hope you give me story a try but in case you still want more information on what you’re getting into, below are some pointers about the story itself. First Contact: CTVL is a story about a first contact scenario between an advanced alien civilization and a slightly more advanced modern day humanity on their planet called Dirt. Characters: The story will take place mainly on the perspective of the alien visitors themselves though there will be human POV characters who will show how the rest of humanity react through media and forums. Action: It won’t be an actual alien invasion but you have to see for yourself how well first contact went. Sci-Fi: I will be very forward here, I WILL bend the rules of physics in order to add in parts of the plot and there WILL be parts that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Theme: It will be a brooding story talking about the futility of pe… Just kidding, it’s mostly wholesome stuff to be honest here. Alien: The aliens themselves will… actually why should I tell you, you have to go and read it to find out what the aliens are though I will draw a few things here and there to aid in the process. Extra tidbit: If you are a grammar nazi or someone who really wants a realistic scifi story... this story is probably not for you at all. Anyways, that’s pretty much all I can say before I spoil something major of the plot itself, the story is slice of life so make sure that type of story is what you like because I am terrible with anything else as I found out, anyways, have a good time everyone and good luck to the other Writathon participants.
