《Skaikru ☣ Bellamy Blake [2]》Why Am I Not Shocked?

The hours seem to dwindle as the conclave continued. Most of the flames have gone out throughout the day. Nia hadn't left the room again since returning as she waited on any news of Octavia.
A scout covered Azgeda's candle announcing Roan's death. The hint of smirk came across her lips as she was greatful that they wouldn't get the bunker. But Octavia and Luna were the only ones left and she could only hope that Octavia could outsmart her.
Suddenly the doors opened up and Octavia strode in with her head held high. Blood on her face and the necklaces handing from her hand. She stopped in front of Gaia and toss them at her feet. Gaia gathered them up and counted them quickly to confirm.
"Octavia kom Skaikru is victorious. The crypt of the first commander belongs to her people." Gaia announced to the room.
It was quiet for a moment before Octavia spoke. "No."
Everyone was anxious to hear what she might have to say next. Maybe their would all perish in Praimfaya. Octavia stepped up and looked out to everyone.
"I wasn't fighting for Skaikru today. I thought I was fighting for myself, but I now know that's not true, either. I was fighting for us all. Skaikru will not take the bunker alone. We will share it equally because we are equal. We are one clan, and we will survive Praimfaya together. Together." She spoke like a true leader.
Nia spoke the word like everyone else before her and Indra made their way to the girl. Octavia stepped toward them before her knees gave out and she collapsed in Indra's arms.
"Lincoln would be so proud of you." Nia told her while they looked at one another. She remembered her brother's word vividly. His wish for peace and for them to all be together. She was glad that Octavia was honoring that memory.
"There won't be enough room for all out people." Kane stated in a hushed tone when he made his way to the group. He had been in awe of Octavia's announcement but that meant condemning their own.
"It's unity day, Kane." Octavia said not bothered by the statement. She would be able to save her family. But when she looked around them she noticed a person missing among them. "Where's my brother?"
This made everyone glance around but none could spot Bellamy anywhere. Nia's eyes settled on Lynn who had just entered the room very timidly.
"Lynn, why are you here? Where's Jade?" She asked aware of the eyes on her from the group.
"That's what I came to tell you. Jade followed after Bellamy. She said she'd be back but she hasn't." Lynn informed nervous about what would happen next.
Nia glanced at the group behind her with concern, two people were missing. Nia had an odd feeling and remembered the feeling countless times before.

"I have a feeling I know where they are and this wouldn't end well." Nia spoke to them but her eyes trained on Kane.
They realized her meaning and were quick to leave the room. They needed answers and they needed them now. They entered the temple and noticed the priests bodies on the ground and the door closed.
"No, no. No." Octavia repeated once they realized their situation.
"Keep everyone out." Gaia ordered the other priests who obeyed without a word.
Nia checked the priests over while Kane struggled with the door. They weren't dead but rather unconscious. Gaia asked about their condition but it was Octavia who answered.
"No. They used has like the mountain men." She informed picking up a can that had been used.
"How could they do this?" Kane asked out of frustration not understanding their motives.
"Why do you think? Skaikru had done nothing but betray us since they landed and I'm not surprised they did this. I just should've realized sooner." Nia replied in anger. She should've realized that Skaikru would pull something like this while their backs were turned and she was angry that she hadn't.
"Skaikru have betrayed us all." Indra supported with disdain while staring at Kane.
It was a waiting game for any chance that the doors might open again. Octavia called over the radio while Kane went to help the clans make selections. Nia had brought Tate and Fox into the temple to help guard it from unwanted eyes and ears. But the more time passed the more anxious they got.
Down below Bellamy was shocked to hear of their decision and what would happen now. After he had awoke, he saw Jade next to him and looked her over before speaking to Jaha and Clarke.
"How could you do this? There are only four warriors left. Octavia was one of them. She might have won." Bellamy spoke up realizing that Jade had woken.
The girl began to freak out at her new surroundings until Bellamy was able to calm her. She listened to the conversation carefully and realized what had happened. But that only meant Nia, Fox and Lynn were still up top.
"Bellamy, you're right. She had a chance. But Luna was in the final four as well, which means there's an even better chance of nobody getting into this bunker, I nobody surviving, the end of the human race. Can you understand that?" Clarke stated hoping he'd understand her reasoning.
"Yeah, I can understand it. You did what you think you had to do, like always. But you can't, you can't expect me to stay down here not knowing what happened to my sister." He expressed not believing that she would think he would idoly sit by and let this happen.
"We are not opening that door, son." Jaha told him standing firm in their decision.

"You know what?" Bellamy spoke getting irritated by his remarks. "I must've missed the election that made you chancellor again."
The door opened grabbing their attention. Abby entered the room and glanced around surprised to see Bellamy and Jade in there.
"I was setting up the infirmary and I heard people on the corridor, is it over? Did we win?" She asked noticing the people inside were theirs.
"We don't know." Bellamy replied turning back to the two.
"Where's Marcus? And why is Jade here?" She questioned wondering why Jade was there and not any other grounders.
"He was in the tower. We sent some people for him, Bellamy and Octavia. Bellamy was the only one we could get in time. Jade happened to be with him." Jaha explained.
"Give me your radio. Marcus had his." Abby told them but no one made a move.
"The wellies are no good down here." Jaha commented but Clarke moved around the desk and the to began to rise. "Clarke." Jaha warned figuring that no good could come with communicating.
"I'm letting them say good-bye." Clarke responded.
Bellamy made his way around the desk with Jade hot on his trail. She was panicing inside her as she thought of her being alone among the. She didn't want to be with them without Nia, Fox and Lynn. She wants nothing more than to be safe in Nia's arms.
Once Abby made her way around the two adults began to work the radio. Suddenly the sound of a voice came through.
"Can anyone hear me? Over. This is Octavia. Can anyone hear me, damn it?"
Up top Octavia was standing with Indra and Nia while trying to reach anyone. Fox and Lynn stood by the door while Tate was just outside.
"O, it's me. You ok?" Bellamy's voice came through making them all peak up.
"I'm alive. I won." She replied making the ones inside the office glance in shock. "Bell, what the hell did you do?"
"It wasn't me. But I'll fix it." Bellamy told her hoping she'd believe him. He glanced at Jade as saw the worry on her face and thought about what Nia might be going through. "Tell Nia that Jade's safe. She's with me."
Nia's sighed in relief at the statement. She was grateful that Jade was still okay not knowing what Skaikru's intent might be with her.
"We don't have much time." Indra commented bringing up the time frame that they had.
"Listen to me." Octavia began hoping that they would be able to change things before anyone could find out. "When I won, I decided to share the bunker with everyone. A hundred from each clan. Kane is out there buying is time, helping them select their people, and Gaia somehow convinced the scouts to lock down the temple. But if anyone finds out that Skaikru stole the bunker, we're all dead."
"Copy that. I'm on my way." Bellamy responsed but the doors opened and guard came in.
Jade was on alert at the sight of them and her hand was itching to grab the knife in her boot. But she kept her breath steady and watched as they approached them from around the table.
"Turn off the radio." Jaha commanded but no one moved.
"Thelonious, we can save them." Abby pointed out but he wouldn't listen.
"O, I'm gonna need some time." Bellamy spoke before anything else could happen.
"Wait, what? Bellamy, they don't have time." Octavia reponded but received no reply. "Bellamy?"
The radio was ripped from his hands and their communicate cut. The guards began to creep forward.
"Did you hear her? The Grounders are listening to her now, but they won't be for much longer. I am opening that door." Bellamy told them his decision.
"I'm sorry. But right now, our people are safe we cannot risk that." Jaha was against anything jepordizing their safe haven.
"To stop me, you're gonna have to kill me." Bellamy stated determined to her everyone he loved down there, not when he could save them.
"Come on, Bellamy. It doesn't have to be like this." Miller commented not liking the fact that he might have to detain his long time friend.
Jade's eyes snapped to the guard on her left and watched as he tried to step forward discreetly. But he was too close for comfort and he would only continue to advance. Nia and the rest were out there while she was safe down there. She couldn't allow Praimfaya to take her family not when she had a chance to help them.
She was quick to pull out the knife hidden in her boot and stabbed the guard in the torso. The man screamed at the action while everyone stared in disbelief.
But the moment was quick before Bellamy was moving past her and toward the door. His movements weren't fast enough though as Miller grabbed a hold of him. The guard was quick to help while the other went to pull Jade from his companion.
Both stuggled with much difficulty as they were trying to be restrained. Jade was pulled off the guard with her hands her back. The guard twisted her hand until the knife fell from her fingers.
She was lifted and carried out following the other guards and Bellamy. Her voice crying out as she kicked at the air trying to find release.
"Mom! Mom!" Her cried echoed throughout the air as she was pulled further and further away from the door. She was being ripped away from her family.

For those unfamiliar with my writing style, Second Chances was my first attempt at writing. I'm not sure how much I learned in the process, except that readers get angry when you mess with characters they like! Warnings - I tend to info dump. I know I do this, I like slice of life novels that take time to unfold. So don't expect action, murder, and battles in every chapter, it isn't going to happen I prefer the first-person narrative. I will do an occasional POV shift, but it will never be done mid-chapter. I hope you enjoy the story, comments, ratings, and favorites are greatly appreciated!
