"This is stupid and you know it." Nia spoke out against Indra's decision. "I should be our champion not Fio."

When the announcement of the conclave came many warriors offered themselves as champion, Nia included. But with Indra being the leader she was the one to choose and she choose Fio.

"You can be the champion, if you tell me why there would've been a conclave when we thought Clarke was going to become commander." Indra told her her mind going back to that moment. Something spoke out to her and she hadn't yet quite figured it out.

"It doesn't matter anymore. What matters now is our chances at winning this conclave and we both know that I am that chance." Nia insisted to her hoping she would change her mind.

"No, Nia. It is final, Fio will be our champion. He is a good warrior with many skills." Indra replied back. Something told her that Nia shouldn't be in that conclave, not after what had happened in the tower.

Nia huffed at Indra's statement and left the room. She was mad at the situation they were in. Mad at the fact that she wouldn't be fighting for her people. And mad at herself for almost announing her blood status.

"She's not budging." Tate commented once he noticed her tense state.

They had been put in a room while awaiting the beginning of the conclave. Nia was only grateful that it wasn't a room familiar to her because it would bring too many memories.

"I almost told her and the rest of the clans. If it hadn't had been Roan to stop me I might've been Commander." Nia stressed the possibilities. "Now she's punishing me for keeping it from her. But I can't be in that position not now it wouldn't have turned out well."

Tate understood her reasoning. It was a powerful position and when you're not ready to hold it then it could destroy you. Many commanders have made difficult decisions and they would have to live with the consequences of those decisions.

"Maybe it's for the best for you to stay out of the conclave." Tate told her hoping to ease her mind.

Nia sighed not know what the best option for her was. But there was nothing she could do now except hope Fio conquers.

Finally, it was time for the ceremony to announce the champions. The Trikru group stood together as Gaia presented each warrior.

Another defeated sigh left Nia's lips when Fio was called. She wanted nothing more than to be the one fighting for her clan. Gaia began to speak more about how sacred the conclave was when a voice inturrupted.

Everyone watched in shock as Luna, the lost natblida approached. Nia tensed realizing that the competition had just become more harder. Not only that but Luna was fighting for them all to die.

"Indra, please. It's not too late." Nia spoke to Indra beside her. Her words catching the attention of Skaikru.

With Luna in there now, there were only so many that could handle the training she had been through. And one was Nia, seeing that she had been sparring with Lexa since she had become commander, advancing her own skills. But with her in the conclave she would also put the other clans at a disadvantage.

Skaikru glanced at each other nervously awaiting for Indra's answer. Each of them knew her skill sets and knew that if she entered then Octavia might not have a chance. Nia was an excellent warrior and have the ability to overcome any challenge she faced.

"I'm sorry Nia, but I can't." Indra told her standing beside her decision.

Nia said nothing further but left the gathering while the others following behind. Once they were gone they went to their respectful positions. Tate and the girls with the army while Nia would represent Trikru with Indra. When they were gone, Nia went to the staging area where the champions would get to speak with their ambassadors. But she had no words to offer Fio instead she opted to look over the rest of the champions.

In the corner of the room, her eyes laned on Octavia. The girl's presence was a surprise when she entered Polis announcing herself a champion. But she was the best option they had considering the rules.

Indra walked over to Nia and noticed her line of sight. The girl meant a great deal to them both but now as a champion, there was a possibility she wouldn't survive.

"Lincoln's tattoo." Nia noted alerting the girl of their presence. The gesture Octavia made with the war paint made Nia smile a bit.

"Don't fight with agression. Don't reveal your next move before you stike." Indra advised hoping to give her a helpful tip.

"And never leave myself exposed. I remember." Octavia stated remembering all the teachings she was given.

"It's okay to be afraid." Indra comforted seeing the odd look in her eyes before it vanished.

"I'm not." Octavia replied confident.

"Gaia would never accept this." Indra spoke to her as she pulled her sword from its holster. "But I hope that you will."

The gesture surprised Octavia but Nia knew that Octavia had replaced a part of Indra that had been lost since Gaia. To her it was a mother giving her daughter a piece of her. It symbolised how much Octavia meant to they clan.

"Why are you helping me? If I win, that would mean the end of your people." Octavia asked looking at them both.

"You are my people." Inda spoke for them before bringing Octavia into a hug. She spoke something to Octavia before leaving her and Nia to speak.

"I'm surprised you're not fighting." Octavia commented not knowing how hard Nia had fought for the position.

"You're my sister Octavia Blake and I would never want to harm you." Nia began to tell her. "But I love them more to let you try and kill me."

Octavia recognized her meaning and nodded understanding. She didn't know whether she could kill Nia either if she was in the arena. But she knew how powerful she was that would cause Nia to kill her despite the effect it would have.

"Maybe one day we'll have our fight and see who the real winner is." Octavia commented seeing how they never had a matched their skills before.

"If that's what the future holds." Nia finalized before pulling her into a hug as well. "Stay safe and be vigual of your surroundings."

The ambassadors gathered in the throne room of the tower as they would wait for the outcome of the conclave. The last to enter was Skaikru and they had just finished speaking with Octavia. Bellamy and Nia's eyes connected from across the room but no one made a move.

As sound caught Nia's attention making her glance behind her. She stepped forward to the small corner of the room, she pulled back a cloth that was concealing a desk that blocked a passageway that was too small for anyone.

Two heads snapped up to her and gasped at being caught. Nia let out a small chuckle when her eyes settled on the face of her two small girls. She should've known that they couldn't stay back for long. She told them to wait in a room away from the throne room so not to be caught and glanced behind her to see if anyone might've saw.

She slipped out the door and hurried to the room before anyone could noticed her disappearance. But one had one saw her movements after all they were watching her. Bellamy followed behind and when he rounded a corner he realized why she had left. Jade and Lynn stood in front of her before she brought them into a room and emerged a minute later.

The sound of the horn brought their attention to what was happening outside. Bellamy made his way back before Nia and watched as she slipped back inside and stationed herself beside Indra.

There they all waited in anticipation for the first announcement to be made. All hope that their champions were still fighting for their clan.

It wasn't long before Gaia and a scout entered. "The first two champions have fallen."

The scout made his way toward the candle before putting one out. "Gael kom Ingranronakon. Your fight is over."

The ambassordors embraced before the scout went to the next candle. "Fio kom Trikru. Your fight is over."

The mention of their clan and the date of their champion made their blood freeze. Not only did it mean their chance was gone but their fate was sealed.

Gaia made her way over to her mom and embraced her into a hug wanting some sort of comfort. Indra was frozen for a moment before she enveloped her daughter. They would die in Praimfaya.

Nia's emotions seemed to be all over the place but one fought its way to the surface. To say she was angry was an understatement, she was furious. Why hadn't she fought against Indra harder to be champion? She set her hands against a table trying to control her anger but the thought of her girls flashed in her mind. Her hands gripped the table and she yanked it up and over.

The sound of the items caused some to jump as the watched the girl. Many have known about Nia and were surprised to see her not in the fight. Now they watched as their fighter had fallen and the girl storm angrily out.

Hearing that Octavia was still alive made Bellamy's nerve ease but hearing that Trikru's warrior had fallen caused his stomach to turn. His eyes snapped up to Nia and watched her carefully until she flipped the table and watched out. Before he could follow her Kane spoke to him and once he was done he wasted no time walking out.

He found her in the room she had gone before and slowly opened the door. There on the bed was her holding both girls close. Tears could be seen on their cheeks as their heads popped up. He didn't expect much from them but was more than shocked when they jumped up and ran toward him.

Their arms wrapped around him as their sobs began again. His arms went around both as he tried to soothe them.

"It's okay. It'll be okay, I promise." He whispered to them not liking the sadness that was on their faces.

Their crying had put them to sleep as Nia and Bellamy watched them sleep on the bed. Both unsure how to start a conversation after their meeting in the field.

"You should say that to them. We all know what's gonna happen now." Nia spoke quietly to him.

Bellamy went to speak but before he could say anything Nia spoke. "No, don't, it's okay. We should get back make sure Octavia's okay."

Neither one said a word on the walk back. While one was thinking of the perfect time to leave, the other was thinking about how to save his family. He let out a breath when he entered the room and saw their candle still lit.

Nia walked over to Indra and Gaia before she was pulled into the same hug as Octavia. If this was their end then they would accept it like warriors.

Bellamy went to the balcony to overlook the competition when something caught his eye. A warrior had fallen by an arrow but he couldn't recall anyone with a bow. His eyes scanned before they settled on a window. A warrior with a face mask was thinning out the competition.

When he entered the room again, that's when he noticed Echo not being present. She was cheating. Bellamy was outraged by this notion and was determined to put a stop to it. But Kane recommended to wait till dark so not to get caught.

So under the cover of night, he left the tower not noticing the shadow he was trailing. When his confirtation was noticed by Roan he explained leading to Echo's banishment. It wasn't till he was making his way back that he noticed Jade. She replied sheeply that she followed out of curiosity but before they could make another move to the tower, their worlds went black.
