《Skaikru ☣ Bellamy Blake [2]》A Close Call

Relief filled many as they heard of the great news. The bunker had been found and could save them all.
Everyone left to gather their belongings. They had a long trip ahead of them especially if they wanted to beat Praimfaya there.
When the news was announced the hope that Bellamy lost rode in him again. Not only would their people have a chance to live but Nia and the girls would as well. He wanted nothing more than to head to Polis but he needed to help his people get there first. Could this be his second chance at a new life, one where he wouldn't make the same mistakes?
Since the bunker had been found things have been set quickly. Trikru set forth an alliance that would help make sure Azgeda weren't allowed inside. But Azgeda was quick to surround the temple making sure no one could get inside.
Making an agreement with Skaikru for Roan's access into the bunker was put into jeporady when the guard detail bringing him in didn't return. Nia had a feeling it was because the rest of Azgeda would be left outside with only him inside. She could understand that notion but it was not going to change their minds about the idea. But nonetheless the alliance among the clans needed to be ensure especially when they face a large army.
Now they were informed of Roan wanting to meet with them no doubt about what had happened. Nia told Fox to stay with the girls while she and the other war chiefs met with him. Tate was still standing guard up top to make sure that no one could take the bunker from them.
"We were searched outside." Clarke noted to the guards that searched them once more after they entered the temple.
Roan had taken her with him in hopes that she would be able to make them see reason. But his hopes weren't high seeing that the clans had always held a grudge against his.
"If I'm not back in a hour, my army will attack." Roan commented to Tate who watched over them.
"Nothing would make me happier." Tate replied with a glare. He would be willing to fight them no matter what as long as it kept the bunker in their possession.
Clarke glanced at the walls and saw the drawings that decorating them before her eyes settled on Gaia. The priestess was praying while paying no attention to the matter at hand.
"You must be Gaia. I'm-" Clarke began to introduce but Gaia cut her off.
"I know who you are Wanheda." Gaia said with disinterest.
"You helped my people find the bunker. Thank you for that." Clarke continued hoping that if she had Gaia on her side then maybe she could help persuade the others.
"And you gave the Flame to an unworthy king, who say it destroyed. I am not as grateful." Gaia stated back sticking to her side. She wasn't going to allow the Flame to fall into the hands of someone else, when she had dedicated her life to protect it. Not to mention Nia had helped her get it back and she owed her that at least.

Clarke sighed once she realized that Gaia would be no help to her. Roan stepped up to the two halting their conversation further.
"Let's see what all the fuss is about." He reminded Clarke before they made their way toward the door. "After you, Wanheda."
They desended down the steps and were in awe at the structure that would save them from their doom. Heading down they noticed people come out to meet them at the bottom.
"All my enemies in one place." Roan noted as they sent a glare at them from below.
"Who are they?" Clarke asked not knowing them specifically. The only ones she recognized were Nia and Indra who stood side by side.
"She was suppose to be alone." Clarke said but she wasn't suprised when Nia was close by. Nia had been a constant advisor for whom ever was in charge and even if the war chiefs weren't there, they'd be dealing with Indra and Nia.
"What fun would that be?" Roan told her seeing how they were never truly just dealing with Trikru.
"You murdered our people. You burned our villages. Yet you have the nerve to come here in the name of peace." Indra began the conversation.
"Not peace. Survival." Roan countered. "You tried to take this bunker for yourself, yet here I am, willing to talk."
"The Trikru alliance holds the temple. Of course you're willing to talk." Nia spoke up backing the alliance they formed.
"And the Azgeda alliance surrounds it. None of your people will her inside unless we come to terms." Roan pointed out.
"This war is inevitable. The only reason it hasn't happened before now is that Lexa commanded it." Indra informed making Nia agree. This war was kept at bay because it was not the best option when Lexa was commander but now it seemed like the only option.
"The only thing that is inevitable is Praimfaya. In 6 days, anyone who is not in this bunker will be dead." Clarke tried to steer them from this option but no one listened to her.
"Then we should get to it." Nia stated stepping forward as her and Roan stared one another down.
"Roan." Clarke called out trying to at least change his mind.
"We talked. Now we fight." Roan said. What's the point of talking if no one was willing to listen.
"No." Clarke protested against the whole idea. "There is room for 1200 people in here. We could share it equally. All of the clans can survive. That's what Lexa would have wanted."
The mention of Nia made her angry. She felt like they were simply trying to use her memory as a pawn to get their way. If Lexa were here when all alliances were broken them there would've already been a war. Lexa had given Skaikru a chance to reconcile their alliance but Skaikru continued to show that in the end alliances didn't matter to them. But now even Lexa might've not been able to stop this from happening.
"You're right. She would have. And if she were here, the clans might actually have obeyed her. But seeing that there's no commander to rule us, war it is." Indra told the blonde their decision. They would fight no matter what more could be said.

The two them left the tower while the war chiefs assembled to form a plan. No one knew about Gaia and Clarke's conversation above and what would come of it. Once their meeting was done Nia made her way to the room where the girls had been set. It was a room that was located in the general entrance area, an office of sorts.
"What's happening?" Fox asked when Nia entered.
"War." Nia replied simply as she got her weapons ready. There was no way she would be sitting this fight out not when there was too much at stake.
Fox was also assembling her weapons while Nia approached the two girls. She was going to talk to them when the sound of a horn sounded. It was not just any horn but the horn of an ascension.
"Stay here." She told them as she hurried to the surface. Her heart beathing fast while her eyes tried to locate Tate anywhere. She spotted him close to the door while glancing at the surroundings for an attack.
"Tate, you didn't say anything did you?" She asked not wasting any time. As far as she knew there were no other Natblidas other than her. And only one other person knew.
"Nia, I swear to you I said nothing." Tate told her hearing the ascension call as well.
Despite his reply, Nia's nerves didn't falter. A commander would change everything especially for the clan it comes from.
"If no one else knows then who are they ascending?" Nia questioned looking up toward the tower. "I need to be in that meeting but we cannot take our best warriors from the temple. Can you guard it?"
Tate nodded his head confident in his skills. Nia told him to bring the girls up but keeping them out of sight in the temple. She made her way quickly to the tower and upon entering the throne room saw Indra standing beside Gaia.
"Are you presiding?" Indra asked her daughter as the ambassadors began to enter.
"Yes. The Flame chose me as its protector. Our scouts honor that." Gaia informed while Nia joined them standing beside Indra.
"Did one of them find a Natblida?" Nia asked curious to see who the next commander would be.
"Obviously." Gaia answered simply focused on the task she was set to do.
"What clan are they from?" Indra questioned as they wondered what the outcome to the impending war might be. "This is highly unusual, Gaia. There was no conclave. There are questions to be answered."
But Gaia offered no answer instead stepping forward to begin the ceremony. Everyone in the room bowed their heads in respect with their hands positioned properly.
"Through the dark the Flame lives on. The body passed but the Spirit is strong. May the Spirit choose wisely." Everyone repeated the phrase before Gaia continued. "The Spirit has chosen. Let the Commander ascend."
With that the doors opened and Clarke strode in. Indra and Nia were quick to share a glance before Indra stepped forward.
"What is this? Wanheda is no natblida!" Indra inturrupted no believing what was happening.
To everyone's shock Gaia cut into Clarke's hand and the blood seeped out. Indra went back to her position while Nia stood frozen.
"The blood of the commanders is your blood." Gaia informed to the room.
"May the Spirit choose wisely." The phrase repeated.
"May the Spirit of the Commanders guide me." Clarke spoke before getting on her knees.
Nia watched on in disbelief. This couldn't happen. Clarke couldn't be a commander, she didn't value their ways therefore would set things in place that would cause animosity among the clans.
"Nia, what are you doing?" Indra said quietly to the girl when Nia stepped forward.
"Looks like you'll get a conclave after all." Nia muttered to her before grabbing ahold of her dagger. She would do what she had to even if she didn't want to.
She went to speak out stopping Gaia from proceeding when a voice beat her to it.
"Lies upon lies." Roan spoke out halting Nia where she stood.
"Get out of this sacred circle." Gaia told him as he stepped forward.
"There's nothing sacred about any of this. Wanheda is making a mockery of our faith." He announced gaining attention.
"I'm trying to save us, Your Highness. You know that." Clarke said a warning lingering in her tone.
"Because you think we're savaged in need of saving?" Roan commented bringing everyone back to the fact that moments earlier they were willing to go to war.
"Praimfaya is almost here." Clarke remained them of the disaster that was coming.
Next, Roan brought in Abby and there she explained that she had been responsible for Clarke's blood change. It made Nia wonder if she was responsible for hers as well. But it couldn't be because Skaikru was looking for a solution when Lexa had been the one to willingly change her. Her attention was bright back when Roan began to speak up about a solution other than war.
"A conclave." Indra spoke realizing what he was hinting at. But what lingered in her mind was what Nia had said earlier and why she might've said it.
"A final conclave. One champion per clan. One death instead of thousands. And whoever wins gets the bunker." Roan stated the terms clearly.
"To the victor goes the spoils. Trikru is in." Indra announced putting her hand in with Roan's.
Soon everyone's hands were in and willing to settle this will the least amount of blood split. Roan looked to Clarke seeing how her clan was yet to be represented.
"Will you fight, or will you burn." He asked putting her in a difficult position.
Meanwhile, Nia was filled with relief. Only moments ago she was she going to expose herself. But still the chance of survival was put into jeporady and she could stand the thought.
