When the five of you returned to the townhouse, Lau opened the door. The three of them gasped at seeing Sebastian already inside, bowing at them.
"Welcome back. I have been awaiting your arrival," he greeted with a smile. Ciel walked past Lau and took off and gave it to him. "The preparations for afternoon tea have been made." Both you and the young child walked into the house, unfazed by him. The other three were not so lucky.
"You...! Why are you here?" Red exclaimed, confused beyond her mind.
"I finished the business I was attending to, so I returned ahead of you," he replied. You and Ciel began to ascend up the stairs.
"He's worth his weight," you said quietly to him, ignoring Red's exclaims of surprise.
"Of course. He is my butler after all." The both of you stopped and turned around, seeing Sebastian unroll a long list of written names.
'Oh. Impressive.' You thought.
"Earl Bailey's doctor, Richard Oswald, was with friends at the Whitehouse pub. He has an alibi, and no sect connections. Madam Haywhite was talking to Boey at Steep Line, and thus has an alibi. No connections to any sects. The personal doctor of the Chambers household, William Samset, attended the Howard family party and therefore has an alibi..."
"... no connection to any sects," Sebastian finished, dropping the last list onto the ground. "That concludes my research."
'Not too bad.' You thought, eyeing already forgotten lists.
'He just forgot one person.'
"I have narrowed those who fit the conditions down to a single person," he finished.
"Are you really just a simple butler?" Red questioned, shock still coursing through her body, but it barely showed on her face. "You're not from Military Intelligence or something, are you?" She was beginning to feel uneasy at this point. She knew that he was capable of finding out it was her.

"No. I am simply one hell of a butler."

Later at night, you and the rest of them were riding in a carriage together to the Viscount Druitt's house for a party he's thrown for the end of the season. Everyone was already in their costumes, with you being in a more feminine outfit for that evening.
"Alastair Chamber, of the Druitt Viscount family," Sebastian finally spoke. "He received his degree in medicine at university but has undertaken no work. He seems to have held many parties in his home." The manor grew closer and closer to you. Even from where you were, you could tell there was a demon on the premises. You didn't think Sebastian sensed it, but you did.
"However, behind the scenes, he invites those to whom he is especially close to secret parties," he finished explaining.
"There is a rumor going around that he is involved with black magic," Red added.
"It has been said ritualistic events go on at these secret parties, and prostitutes are made into living sacrifices," Lau picked up after that. The carriage pulled up to the front of the house where one butler opened the door.
"Tonight is the last party of the season," Ciel was the first one to step out, his dress flowing behind him. "This our only chance." You didn't say anything, merely stepping out of the carriage and trying to find that presence.
'Somewhere in the back center.' You thought, following the others into the manor.
"Young Mistress," you said, leaning down closer to him. "I'm going to go ahead and investigate." It was a whisper. He nodded at you.
"Alright. Don't look too suspicious, though," he approved. You nodded and him and broke from the group. You ignored Sebastian's stare on you. You brushed past the guests and to the back of the large room. There, talking with a few people, was a woman. The same woman that you felt that presence come from. It wasn't hostile, it was just... powerful. Like Madam Red, she stood out like a sore thumb. Black and red clashed together like waves, and you couldn't help but look at her. The woman seemed to have sensed you because she turned around. You stopped in your place when dual-colored eyes stared into your own.

"Miss Y/n," she greeted, turning her whole body to face you. "It's been a long time. A few hundred years, has it not?" You were utterly confused.
"I'm sorry? Do I know you?" You inquired, tilting your head slightly.
"I didn't expect you to, but I do know who you are. I was there when you were created," she replied, the glass of red wine in her hand refilling. You stared at it in shock before she held one out to you.
"Did you pull this out of your ass or something?" That was probably something you shouldn't have said, but she didn't seem to mind.
"Not at all. I do not fancy things like that." She drank it all in one gulp, licking her lips.
"You're a demon, aren't you?" You got straight to the point.
"Of course." Her pupils thinned for a brief moment. "But that is just one of many titles I have." When you blinked, she was gone. You looked around the party but didn't see her anymore. You didn't sense her anymore either.
'What the hell kind of Houdini act was that the fuck.' You thought, blinking a few times. The music in the background swelled, violins and flutes playing all throughout the room. You immediately ducked to the closest wall and allowed the other guests to dance with each other. Skirts were twirling, hair was flying. It was all a blur of colors.
"May I have this dance?"
You turned your head and saw Sebastian holding his hand out to you.
"Where's the Miss?" You inquired, keeping your hand to your side.
"She's currently talking with the Viscount," he replied, eyes moving to the other side. You let out a hum and placed your hand in his. You allowed him to pull you to the middle of the floor.
"So tell me, Sebastian," you began. "Why do you tolerate my presence near your master? I was under the impression you wouldn't allow anyone who was a threat near him." You made sure your voice was quiet enough that no one heard.
"That's a simple question," he replied. "I've lived for a long time and met, and unraveled many humans, but you... you're the first person I can't quite figure out. You're an enigma, an elusive creature." His smooth tone reached your ears effortlessly.
"Well that's one way to say you don't like me." You rolled your eyes slightly.
"Don't like you?" He repeated, mouth turning up into a slight smirk. "Quite the contrary. I have an unreasonable fascination to you." You rose a brow at him.
"Well that's not what I expected."
The music died down and slight applause sounded off. You stepped away from him and curtsied to him the same time he bowed to you. You promptly left the floor. Out of the corner of your eyes, you could see Ciel talking with the Viscount.
'Poor boy.' You thought, heading to the table for refreshments. As you were downing a bottle of vodka, a loud thump interrupted you. You looked behind yourself and saw Sebastian had brought a large wardrobe.
'Where did he get that?' Your brow twitched. You looked slightly to the left and saw Ciel and Druitt duck behind a curtain.
'Hm.'
Ja ne!
