You sat on top of your bed, facing the window. Your eyes were closed, but you weren't asleep. No, instead you were looking through your third eye over London. You had felt some sort of disturbance in the air. That's when you saw two people, cloaked in red, killing who you believed were prostitutes. You tried to focus your third's eye vision on the two people. When you did, your brows furrowed.

'Is that Grell Sutcliff?' You thought, seeing the long, bright red hair. A sudden new presence behind you made you return back to your normal sight.

"Sebastian," you greeted, tilting your head slightly. "May I ask what you're doing in my room?" You slowly stood up from the bed and turned to look at him.

"I was merely seeing how our newest addition was doing," he replied, tone smooth as ever. You crossed your arms and stared at him for a few seconds. He was definitely one of the more attractive demons you've seen.

"Is that so?" You inquired, raising your brows at him. "Are you sure it's not because you're making sure I don't hurt short stack?"

His pleasant expression was gone.

"Of course not," he replied, crimson eyes glinting with mischief. "I trust you."

"No, you don't."

~

After your encounter with Sebastian that night, morning quickly came. With a sigh, you teleported out of your room already in your maid uniform.

"Good morning, Y/n."

You looked up and saw the tall butler standing in front of you already.

"Good morning to you, too," you greeted back, pushing past him and walking down the hallway.

"I apologize for intruding last night. I was merely satisfying my curiosity," he spoke up from next to you.

"Don't worry about it. I don't care." You brushed off, waving dismissively. Sebastian just stared at you from the corner of his eyes.

During the carriage ride to Ciel's townhouse during the season, he held a letter in his hand. A letter from the Queen. The information it contained was something you already knew. The recent murders of prostitutes. And as the Queen's Guard Dog, it's his duty to figure out who the killer is.

"So Y/n," Ciel spoke up, drawing your attention. Sebastian was driving the carriage. "What's your opinion on this?" He held up the note.

"That's quite vague. I don't believe an opinion matters. Action does," you replied, eyes half lidded. It didn't seem as if he was expecting that answer.

"And what action needs to be taken?" He challenged. You looked at him straight in the eye.

"Immediate."

The carriage pulled up in front of the large townhouse, stopping in front of the staircase. The door opened and Sebastian had allowed Ciel to get out of the back, holding the door open. You followed a few feet behind him and moved out of the way so Sebastian could shut the door. The three of you walked up the small set of stairs.

"There are just too many people in London," Ciel complained as the tall man opened the door for him. You followed close behind.

"It is due to the social seasons, where the upper classes migrate from manor houses in the countryside to their townhouses in London," Sebastian explained. Your eyes moved up to the ceiling where you felt three presences upstairs.

"Seasons, huh?" Ciel repeated as the three of you walked up the two flights of stairs. "The carefree slackers."

"Sometimes, getting away from the mansion can be a good change of pace," Sebastian said lightly. "Those four aren't accompanying us, so we should be able to enjoy some peace and quiet." The smile on his face probably was an attempt to lighten Ciel's mood, but from what you could tell, it didn't.

"Peace and quiet, huh?" Ciel repeated quietly. When you all got to the top, Sebastian opened the door for the short boy.

"Grief! Just where have they hidden the tea in this house?" A woman groaned, throwing another book into the couch from the secretary desk.

'That's the woman.' You thought, recognizing the vibrant red.

"It's nowhere to be seen!" A Chinese man added. You could easily tell the two males beside you were not expecting this.

"There's no way it would be in there!" The red lady laughed slightly at the end.

"Madam Red! Lau! Why are you here?" Ciel asked, blue lines dancing across his head. The two adults stood up.

"My, you're early!" Madam Red commented cheerfully.

"Since you have come, it must mean..." Lau trailed off dramatically.

"The Queen's guard dog is on the move, correct?" Madam Red finished. Ciel just stared at them, unamused.

"Oh?" Lau spoke, thin eyes turning to you. ()

"Who is this?" Madam Red turned as well. You bowed respectfully at them.

"Forgive me for not introducing myself earlier. I'm Y/n L/n," you greeted, straightening up.

"Oh, are you a new maid for the Earl?" Lau inquired, tilting his head at you. You nodded at him.

"Yes. The Young Master recruited me a couple of days ago. Pleased to make your acquaintance."

~

After introductions and greetings were made, you all moved to the dining hall where the three of them, Ciel, Madam Red, and Lau were snick snacking. You stood on Ciel's left side while Sebastian stood on his right.

"Yesterday, at Whitechapel, another prostitute was murdered," Ciel got straight to the point. "It wasn't just your average murder; it was bizarrely vicious... no, you could actually call it supernatural." You watched Madam Red and her butler, Grell, who were across from you.

"The victim this time, a Miss Mary Nicholas, was put down by a special kind of blade that sliced her up completely, unhindered by resistance," Sebastian added on.

"Scotland Yard and the newspaper reporters are calling the killer Jack the Ripper," Ciel finished.

'How appropriate.' You thought, head tilting to the side slightly.

"Jack the Ripper, huh?" Lau repeated.

"The reason I hurried to London was also to confirm the situation," Ciel explained. Lau placed his cup down, a smile on his face.

"Do you have the guts to visit the crime scene?" He asked.

"What do you mean by that?"

"The darkness and the scent of evil that now seep through that place will call out to those of the same breed and eat into them." Lau stood up and began to walk over to the Earl. "If you set foot in that place, it's possible that you will be engulfed by the madness." He stopped about two feet in front of him, leaning over to grab his ear lightly.

"Are you prepared for that, Earl Phantomhive?"

You did not feel the need to protect him, nor did you have an instinct to. You couldn't say the same for the demon next to you.

"I am here to avenge her distress. Don't ask unnecessary questions," Ciel replied.

"This is excellent. Those are good eyes," Lau spoke. You slowly pushed his arm away from Ciel. Not only that, but you were also beginning to grow annoyed with him in front of you.

"Please refrain yourself from aggravating the Young Master," you said, pushing his arm away slightly.

'And don't come near me anymore.'

~

The six of you decided to go to the location where Mary's body was found. With Madam Red and Lau staying back, you, Sebastian, and Ciel went ahead. There was already a large crowd circling around. It seems you weren't the only ones interested. Ciel walked up to a man who was standing in front of the underpass, papers in his hands. He seemed to of spotted Ciel. When the aforementioned stopped in front of him, the man leaned down slightly.

"What brings you here? This is no place for a child. Go on home," he said, turning his eyes back to the papers.

"Where is the victim's corpse?" Ciel inquired, paying no mind to being called a child.

'Straight to the point, huh?' You thought.

"Corpse?! What are you saying?!" The man exclaimed, obviously shocked at his impertinence.

"Abberline!" Another voice called out. A man walked out from the shadows behind him. "What are you doing here, Lord Phantomhive?" The man stood next to the man named Abberline.

"You know him?" The younger man asked.

"I came to clean up after the slow-moving hounds working this case, Sir Arthur Randall," Ciel replied smugly, pulling out the letter from the Queen. The older man scowled at him.

'Arthur Randall.' You thought, eyeing him. Ciel grabbed the papers from Abberline's hands and read through them. Moving his gaze from the arrogant child, Arthur's eyes moved to you.

"Who are you? I've never seen you around here," he asked, moving his eyes up and down.

"I'm Y/n L/n, newest servant to the Phantomhive Manor. Pleased to meet you." You bowed briefly.

"It looks as if you haven't got many clues," Ciel said quietly, eyes reading the papers. Arthur took the papers from his hands.

"We of Scotland Yard will solve this case. We don't need your interference," Arthur said, more than anything wanting him to leave.

"Excellent. Let's go, Sebastian, Y/n," Ciel ordered, turning and walking away from the two of them.

"Yes, my lord," Sebastian replied while the two of you followed after him. The three of you walked past Madam Red, Grell, and Lau. They followed behind you.

"What will you do?" Red asked.

"The best thing would probably be to visit him," Ciel replied from the front of the group.

"My lord! You don't mean..." Lau trailed off dramatically.

"Indeed I do."

~

"So... where are we?" Lau shrugged.

"You just spoke as if you knew all about it, didn't you?!" You exclaimed, an irk mark on your head.

"It's a funeral parlor run by an acquaintance of the Young Master's," Sebastian explained. You looked up at the sign, holding back a sigh.

"The undertaker?" Red repeated. Sebastian opened the door, allowing Ciel in first, then letting the rest of you to file in.

"Are you here, Undertaker?" Ciel called out into the bleak store. Several coffins laid throughout the store. There was no response.

'He's here. He's just playing dirty.' You thought, sensing the Reaper's presence.

"Undertaker!" You called out which startled Grell. You took a step forward, in front of Ciel. "It's certainly been a long time! Remember me? I'm the one who used to watch you make coffins for people! Come out!" Your eyes flashed for a quick second. A light, creepy laugh echoed from inside the store.

"I thought you'd drop by before long," you heard him say. The lid to a coffin slid open, scraping against the floor. "Welcome, my lord." He fully opened the lid from the coffin in front of you. Grell was on the ground in shock and fear, and all three of them were probably having heart attacks.

"Is today the day you'll condescend to enter one of my special coffins?" He asked. Your brow twitched at his straightforwardness.

"Certainly not. Today I—"

"You don't have to tell me. I know," he interrupted, holding a hand above Ciel's mouth. He then looked at you and his Cheshire grin grew even more if that was possible. "Hehe... It's certainly been a long time, Y/n." His gray banges swept across his face as he laughed.

"I haven't seen you at all since your father's—oompfh mmphf."

You appeared next to him and placed a hand over his mouth. Not only that, but the tip of a blade also pressed against his tailbone.

"I don't care. It's been long, just say that," you whispered into his ear. He chuckled beneath your hand but didn't make any attempt to talk.

"Undertaker, what were you about you say?" Ciel asked, not getting the hint. You stared at him; eyes dark. Sebastian sensed this and glared at you. He didn't completely trust you. Not yet. Ciel noticed the tension between you two and decided it wasn't worth it. He changed the subject.

"Undertaker. Tell me about the victims of Jack the Ripper."

Ja ne!
