《Baby Daddy》38. St Mungo's

When we arrived at St Mungo's, they rushed Lilah into an empty hospital room, as I quickly followed behind her. They started attaching her to a bunch of machines and about five doctors quickly surrounded her, as I stood right by her side holding her hand the whole time.
I hadn't properly realised the severity of the situation until I overheard some doctors in the corner of the room discussing something about saving her life and the baby's life. Hearing this made me panic even more Thani already was as my fiancé and second child's life were both at risk.
Her eyes were still slightly open, but she hadn't moved or said much in the past few minutes, so I said, "Lilah, please stay with me, I can't loose you."
And then her eyes closed.
A machine to the left of me started beeping crazily, causing the doctors in the room to start rushing around in panic. I had no idea what was going on, but I just knew it wasn't good.
"Sir, you have to leave", a nurse said as she came up to me.
"No, I'm not leaving", I demanded as I firmly held onto Lilah's hand, refusing to leave her side.
"You have to sir, you can't stay in here", she said, slight sympathy in her voice as doctors kept on rushing around us.
"Please", I pleaded, "I promised her I wouldn't leave her side."
"I'm afraid you can't, but I will let you come in as soon as we can", she said.
With a lot of reluctance, I eventually left the room after giving Lilah a kiss on the forehead, not knowing if it was going to be the last. As soon as I got out the door, and it was shut behind me, my knees finally gave out.
My back slid down the wall until I hit the floor and I buried my head in my hands as tears started streaming out of my eyes.
Heartbreak is the only word I can think of to describe this feeling.
So many horrible thoughts were going through my mind. I don't know what I'd do if I lost her, and I couldn't let Indie grow up without a mother in her life.
We are supposed to get married, have a big family and how old together. I can't loose her, I can't.
I don't know if I'd even be able to live without her in my life.
"Are you alright?" I heard a voice from above me say.
I looked up through my tear filled eyes and saw Neville Longbottom, the one who killed Nagini in the battle, standing above me.

I quickly wiped tears away from my eyes as I didn't want anyone to see me this vulnerable, especially him.
"Y-yeah, I'm fine", I stuttered, trying to even out my breathing again as I stayed sat on the floor.
"I don't know if I quite believe that", he said as he came and sat down next to me, hugging his knees to his chest.
After a few awkward quiet minutes, I was about to say something rude, because it was Neville, but I decided against it as I knew that Lilah wouldn't want me to. So instead I asked, "Why aren't you at school?"
"I'm here visiting my parents", he said, "I come here as much as I can to see them."
"What happened?" I asked curiously, wanting to know more.
"Bellatrix Lestrange used the cruciatus curse on them many years ago and they've been here ever since. They don't really do or say anything though, but it's still nice to see them."
"I'm sorry", I said, actually feeling quite bad for what my aunt did to him and his parents.
"Don't be, you're not responsible for your aunts actions", he said.
"What about you? What are you so doing here, and why are you crying?" he asked.
"I-I'd rather not talk about it", I replied as I felt tears start to fill my eyes again as I was reminded of why I was here.
"Okay, I'm here if you want to talk about it though", he said.
Not that I would ever actually admit it to anyone, but he really wasn't as bad as I thought he would be, let alone what people make him out to be like. He also wasn't bad company either. Even though we weren't talking, it was nice to know someone was there.
I have no idea how long we were sitting there in silence for, when the door to Lilah's hospital room opened, and a group of doctors came rushing out, pushing a small rolling bed with a tiny baby in.
I immediately stood up from the floor and ran over, but a doctor stopped me. "Sir, you have to stay here, you can't go any further."
"No! That's my son! Let me see my son!" I shouted, not caring who heard me.
"I'm sorry sir, but your not allowed to go with him", she said.
"At least tell me if he's going to okay. He's gonna survive, isn't he?" I pleaded.
"He's in critical condition, we're doing what we can", she said. It wasn't the best news ever but it was better than nothing.
"And what about my Lilah? Is my Lilah okay?" I asked, just needing to know if the love of my life was alright.

"We're doing our best", she said before rushing off in the direction they sent my son. My son.
I couldn't contain my emotions anymore so I did the first thing I could think of. I punched the nearest wall as hard as I could. I continuously punched it until my knuckles were raw and there was blood trickling down my hand.
I cursed myself for not being careful enough, and not looking after my Lilah enough. I couldn't help but think that this was all my fault.
I had one job, and that was to keep her safe, and I failed.
I felt a hand go on my back, preventing me from hitting the wall again. "Hey, it's alright." I turned around and was greeted with Neville's concerned face.
"No it's not. I've ruined it. I've fucking ruined everything!" I said as I sank down to the floor again, leaning against the wall.
Suddenly, the door opened again and this time only a single doctor exited the room, with a solemn look on his face.
"I'm sorry..." was all he said as looked down at me.
When I opened my eyes again, I had to close them straight away as the light was far too bright. Once my eyes finally adjusted to the light a bit, I opened them again and looked around.
I was at a much cleaner and brighter version of King's Cross Station.
I started walking up the empty platform to see if I could see anyone and work out what I was doing here in the first place.
In the distance, I saw a figure approached me and as they got closer, I immediately recognised them.
"Ash!" I shouted as I ran up to her and wrapped my arms around her. It had been way too long since I'd talked to her and hugged her. I had missed her so much.
What was she doing here? I thought.
"I didn't expect to see you here so soon", she said as I released her from my arms.
"What do you mean? Where I am?" I asked as I looked around again to inspect the place we were in further.
My eyes widened as I realised where I was.
"Did I- did I... die?" I asked, hoping I wasn't right and I was just overreacting, but then why was Ash here?
"Yes, you did-" she began to say.
"No, no. Please tell me you're joking!" I said.
"I'm afraid not-" she said, but I interrupted her again.
"No, I have to get back. I have to. I can't leave Draco, I love him so much and we haven't even gotten married yet. And not to mention I can't leave Indie, she needs a mother, I don't want her growing up without a mother. And my son, I need to know if my son made it! How do I get back? Please tell me there's a way to get back..." I cried frantically.
"There is a way, but it's very risky", she said.
"Please, I'll do anything. I just have to get back to them!" I pleaded.
"Okay, if you walk down to the very end of the platform there are ten doors. One of them leads you back to your life, so you'll be able to live again. But the other nine, lead to eternal suffering. So, if you pick the wrong door, not only will you not be able to see anyone on earth again, but you also won't be able to spend time with me and everyone else up here as well", she explained.
"I guess I have to try it, don't I? I mean, what other choice do I really have?" I asked.
"You don't have to, you could always stay up here with me", she said.
"I know, but it's worth the risk. I'd do absolutely anything to get back to Draco and Indie", I smiled at the thought of possibly getting to see them again.
"If your sure..." she said. I knew she understood my reasoning for going back to my fiancé, daughter and possibly son, but I could see she was upset that I wasn't going to stay with her.
"I love you so much", I whispered as I hugged her again tightly, knowing that this was going to be the last until the day I die, again - that is, if I make it through the correct door.
"I love you too, I'll miss you", she said as I walked off to the other side of the platform.
As I reached the end, I saw the ten doors she was referring to, and it was time to pick.
It suddenly hit me what I was about to do, but it was definitely worth the risk. Even if I wasn't on earth for too much longer, I just had to at least say goodbye.
I chose the first door I felt drawn to and walked through it without giving myself a second to think about it so I wouldn't back out.
Let's just hope it's the right one.

The Last Journey
A slice of life litrpg story... or is it? It's burning slow, though. Moving on: War comes with a great cost. Lives and time wasted for most part. One could either be run with sword, be poisoned, be bowed, and sometimes meet their end with just a tiny speck of wood. With magic, it becomes even more colorful. From lightning, to worse poison, to hovering rocks, to weird bladed leaves, to whipping roots, and to a lot more odd things easily reasoned with magic. A wonderful creation. But once used to something more than wonder, more than tricks to gather laughs, it becomes worse. War becomes worse. For there is not only blood to be spilled. A particular town almost met the same end. Soldiers geared with swrords and bows came with mounts. Horses burning lush grasses as it cracked boulders and the soil alike with every step. The kind that only war ones could ever do. Even strange wheeled creations that oozed danger were towed, loaded with something meant to destroy. But not once had they acted upon what such devices should've done, nor what an an army is supposed to do. Siege never occurred, as much as a command to war. No. Magic existed so a simple little fire is all the worth the town has. No sword drawn, no arrows nocked, nothing. Just some mana spent and through the ash they march. That was how Nudius saw her end. It came not even as a surprise. She didn't have the moment to fully register what occurred before she found herself in an empty dark space. Life lost, time spent. All from a fire that had not even touched her. But she knew very well that it was magic. Something she wished to have and strived for to have. Yet it seemed that none of it would matter now. Nudius was well aware of what the color around meant, of the odd situation, of the unfeeling state of her being. It was death and that was it. She didn't have to worry or dream further. Although there wasn't what she truly wanted in what death to her is, but at least, Nudius was comforted to what she believed death is. Rest. But little did she know there's something more than that empty space. It wasn't only the promise of rest, but was also more than she could ever hope for. Another chance at life. Another chance to dream. ***Tags are there just in case. You never know! Umm... HI-MI-TSU. Story blurb+: This is slow burn, quite slice of life story about a girl learning magic. All the while as she fatten herself up. So yeah, progression fantasy. But there's Litrpg! Numbers! Magic! Spells! And of course! There's something more. But read on ahead, please. Oh yes. Plot! There is, too. Disclaimer: The cover isn't made by me. Just layered it with a text. I got it from a free website, if I correctly recall. I'll see to it. (Haven't worked on it.)
