《Baby Daddy》34. Planning
Advertisement
Wedding planning is a lot harder than I thought it would be. Like a lot harder.
And, to make things even harder, we have to try and get it all planned out by the end of the Christmas holidays as when we get back to school, we won't have as much time, or my parents and Narcissa to help. And the end of the holidays is in just over a week, and I haven't done nearly enough planning as I should have.
When planning a wedding, there are so many details you have to organise that you never would've thought of before, but they have to get done otherwise it could ruin the wedding or how the day runs.
Thank god I have Narcissa and my parents to help though because without them, it would probably be an absolute disaster.
Draco has actually helped a lot more than I originally assumed he would, I might even go as far to say he's done better than I have. He's already got his suit and ring picked out, whereas I have done neither - but a dress instead of a suit.
The only two things that we have both organised are the bridesmaids and groomsmen, and the date of the wedding so we can already send out invitations.
My bridesmaids are Cho, Luna, Hermione and Anna, my maid of honour being Anna. And then Draco's groomsmen are Greg, Blaise, Theo and Gray (Grayson is mostly for me), and his best man is Blaise. Also, Indie is a flower girl, of course.
We both decided that we wanted a summer wedding, and we wanted to do it before August 5th so we wouldn't have to worry about Rita Skeeter ruining it, so in the end we went with July 14th 1999.
Every time I look at my left hand I always get a bit shocked at the fact it has an engagement ring on it as I still haven't fully gotten used to it yet. And I've also just gotten used to the weight of the ring, it took a bit longer than it usually would for most people as the ring is so big, but now it is my new normal.
Today is the day after Christmas, which is also the day I go shopping for my wedding dress so I am incredibly excited. It will be a bit weird though without being able to get Draco's opinions on it as we decided he isn't allowed to see it until the day, but I am quite confident that I know what he will like. So not only am I going to try and get a dress that I love, I'm gonna have to attempt to get one that'll make Draco's jaw drop as well when he sees me in it.

We spent the whole of yesterday, Christmas Day, having a break from all the planning and just focused on each other. It was really nice, but it also means that we missed out on a whole day of wedding planning so we have a lot to catch up on.
"Are you ready to go?" Anna asked.
"Yes, I think so", I replied as all six of us apparated away. I decided that I didn't want too many people there so it wouldn't be too crowded or there wouldn't be too many opinions, so I chose to just bring Anna, Indie, both my moms and Narcissa.
"I'm so excited", Narcissa said as we arrived at the wedding boutique. "I never thought I'd be able to go wedding dress shopping because I only have a son, so thank you so much for inviting me."
"Of course I was going to invite you, I wouldn't be able to this without you", I said and I could see her eyes slightly glaze over with tears, but she blinked a few times to prevent them from escaping.
I let each person pick out one dress for me to try on, and I picked one out for myself, so that I could try on a wide variety of styles to see what I liked best.
The first dress I tried on was my pick:
"No, no. Absolutely not!" Narcissa said as soon as came out of the changing room to show them the dress.
"Why, what's wrong with it?" I asked, wanting to know why she didn't like it, "I quite liked it."
"It's far to plain and modest my dear. You have a beautiful body and you need to show it off, something that will make you look even sexier", she said.
"I have to agree", said Anna, "you need something a bit more, let's say... revealing. Why don't you try on my dress next?"
"Okay, fine", I said as I went back into the changing room.
Anna's dress choice:
"Okay, when Narcissa said sexy, I don't think she meant that much skin needed to be revealed", Jenna said, trying to cover up Indie's innocent little eyes.
"Hey! What's wrong with my pick?!" Anna questioned, she seemed to absolutely love it.
"It looks more like something you'd wear in the bedroom after the wedding, rather than in the actual ceremony", Mary said, making all of us burst out laughing.
"Yeah, I agree. I know Draco would love seeing me in this, but he'd want to be the only person that sees it, not all the guests at the wedding."
Indie's pick:
"Princess mama!" Indie shouted as soon as I walked out wearing the dress she chose.

"Wow, now that is a dress", Anna said.
"As beautiful as it is, it's a bit too big and I don't feel like I'll be able to move around in it easily, and not to mention it's incredibly heavy", I told them.
"Yeah, you probably won't even be able to sit down or even kiss, or dance with Draco. He won't be able to get close enough to you", Mary laughed.
"I'm sorry Indie, but maybe for your wedding when your older", I said to her.
"It okay mama", she said. She really is the most perfect child.
Mary's choice of dress:
"You look gorgeous", Narcissa exclaimed when I walked out in the dress.
"I do really like it," I began, "but I don't think it's the one. I'm not too sure if I'll be comfortable all day in these sleeves in the summer, and I don't really know how I feel about the colour."
"True", Mary said, I could tell she was a little upset I didn't choose hers but I knew she understood why.
"Yeah, it'd probably be better for a winter wedding rather than a summer one", Anna said and we all nodded in agreement.
Jenna's choice:
"I actually really like this one, I didn't think I would", Mary said as I walked out in Jenna's dress pick.
"I do too, actually, more than I thought. The only thing is that it is kind of hard to walk in, let alone dance in", I also struggled to breath in it a little bit because of the corset that was inside.
"Also, because it's strapless I'd be worried all day incase I accidentally flash someone."
"It does look a quite tight, and there's probably a little too much fabric at the bottom", Jenna agreed as I waddled back into the changing room.
And then I tried on Narcissa's dress choice [you will see the dress in the wedding chapter].
"Oh. My. God", Anna murmured as her hand had clapped over her mouth in shock, muffling her voice.
"Lilah, you look- wow", Mary said, struggling to find the right words.
"This one mama, this one!" Indie shouted, pointing at my dress.
"I love this one. I think it's... the one", I whispered, hardly being able to get words out as I admired myself in the mirror.
"I told you you'd end up picking my one!" Narcissa exclaimed.
"Yeah, I wasn't too sure about this one when it was on the hanger, but it looks like a completely different dress on Lilah, I love it", Jenna said as tears started to fall down her cheeks in pride.
I looked around at everyone and saw that they all had tears in their eyes.
"Yep, this is definitely the one", I confirmed, knowing that everyone else loved the dress just as much as I did, if not more - if that's even possible.
"Draco's not gonna know what's hit him", Anna laughed.
-----
When we got back to the house after they took my measurements and ordered the dress, we were greeted with Draco, probably wanting to know about how it went.
"Indie!" he exclaimed as she ran up to him.
"I miss you dada", she said as he picked her up into his arms.
"And I missed you too! How did it go?" he asked.
"Mama look so pretty, but we not tell you what it look like", she said as she pretended to zip her lips.
"Why not?" he moaned and I could tell he was upset.
"Because, Dray, your not allowed to know what it looks like until I walk down the aisle", I told him.
"But that's not for another seven months!" he complained as he put Indie back down on the floor.
"Draco..." I warned.
"Fine", he huffed. Sometimes he was honesty worse than Indie with his little temper tantrums.
"But you'll love it sweetie", Narcissa reassured him, ruffling up his hair with her hand
"Do you really think so?" he asked, as he neatened up his hair again. I could tell he was trying to get as many details about the dress as he could because he was so eager to know what it looked like.
"I don't think so, I know so. Besides, it was my dress choice so I know you'll love it", she said, then walked off somewhere down the hall with Mary and Jenna, with Indie closely following behind them.
"It still think he'd prefer my dress", Anna interrupted.
"What was that one like then?" Draco asked, intrigued.
"It wasn't much of a dress, Anna", I rolled my eyes, "it looked a bit more like a dress version of lingerie."
"I like the sound of this one", Draco smirked.
"Really? Would you like everyone at the wedding to see my breasts then?"
"Oh, no. Never mind. Those are just for me", he winked.
"Ew, you guys are disgusting, get a room", Anna cringed.
"Good idea", Draco said as he grabbed my hand and dragged me up to our room.
