《Baby Daddy》27. Recovery
Advertisement
The past few months have been an absolute blur, with everything going on.
I spent some of my time celebrating the victory of Harry Potter and the fact that we were now free from the darkest wizard of all time. I also reunited with Cho, Luna and Hermione who I had missed so much when I was at the manor, and I caught them up on everything.
I, obviously, spent a lot of time with Indie and Draco. We are currently staying at my parents manor with Anna which is a much more relaxed environment than Malfoy Manor ever was. I was also very happy that I got to see Kiki again, and the other house elves. Indie is doing so well and she is walking almost perfectly now, and she's just about able to start forming some sentences on her own. Draco and I have also grown even closer and spent almost every second of every day with each other, too afraid to let the other one go again. He was also very relieved to find out that his 'father' is now locked up in Azkaban again, where he belongs.
I also spent a lot of time with my parents and Narcissa. I noticed a massive change in Narcissa as well, she seems so much happier now that she has finally divorced Lucius. She is also staying with Draco, Indie and I at my parents house, as she got rid of the manor because it brought back too many bad memories.
And, most importantly, I spent most of my time mourning and celebrating the lives of those we lost in the battle. Mostly Ash, of course, but also everyone else who was innocent and lost their life, including Severus Snape, Fred Weasley, Remus Lupin, Nymphadora Tonks, Lavender Brown, Vincent Crabbe, and Colin Creevey. May they all rest in peace.
Draco and I have now been together for one year, officially, and we spent our anniversary (which is also my birthday) with Indie at Westfield, the same shopping centre we spent out first 'date', if you would call it that. Now that his father is out of the picture, Draco is much more accepting of muggles, but it will still take a bit longer for him to get used to being around them as he's been taught all his life that they were bad.
-----
Today is August 30th and Draco and I were woken up to the sound of knocking on our window. I reluctantly got out of bed and went to see what was there. I opened the window and saw an owl, who was carrying a letter. I took the letter, gave the owl a little treat, and walked back over to the bed to read it.
"What is it?" Draco asked, still half asleep.
"It's a letter. And it looks like it's from... Hogwarts", I replied, confused as to why we were getting a letter from Hogwarts.

"What's it say?" he questioned, now giving me his full attention as he sat up in the bed.
I opened the letter, also wanting to know what it said, and began to read.
"To Draco Malfoy and Delilah Davis,
Over the past couple of weeks we have been working hard on repairing Hogwarts back to its previous condition. As of September 1st, we will be opening back up to the public and all years and students are welcome.
We would personally like to invite you back for your eighth year at Hogwarts, which will just be a retaking of your seventh year since it was disrupted last year with the battle. The supplies will be the same as the previous years and can be found at the newly refurbished Diagon Alley.
We are also aware of your situation and would like to let you know that Indigo is also invited. The three of you will be able to occupy the same room Delilah had in her sixth year inside the infirmary, and Madam Pomfrey will continue to help look after her whenever it is necessary.
We look forward to hopefully seeing you there on September 1st and hope that you are all recovering well.
Yours sincerely,
Minerva McGonagall - Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry"
I looked up to Draco after I finished reading the letter and saw that he had a small smile on his face.
"I think you know what this means", he said.
"Diagon Alley", I smiled.
We both already knew that we wanted to go back, as we'd talked about it before, so we didn't even have to ask each other.
Despite everything that happened last time we were there, we were both eager to go back, wanting a distraction from life around us and it'll also be a way to start to get our life back to normal after these odd few months.
We went to tell our parents about the letter and our decision. They were all slightly more reluctant to let us go than we were but they knew that it is what we needed, and that it was the best decision.
And with that, we apparated away to Diagon Alley.
The street was as busy as ever, with students of all ages shopping preparing for their new year. There was something different about it though. Everyone seemed to be more aware of each other and smiled at each other, other than ignoring them like people used to do. The battle had definitely changed people, mostly for the better I'd say.
"Where to first?" I asked, as I held Indie tightly against my chest, not wanting to let her walk around just in case she got lost or something.
"This little one looks like she could use a snack," he said as he nodded in Indie's direction, "so how about the ice cream parlour?"

"Are you sure you're not just saying that because you want ice cream?" I said, raising my eyebrows at him mockingly.
"You know me too well", he winked, then grabbed hold of my hand and led us in direction of the parlour.
When we got to there we ordered our ice creams. I had one scoop of strawberry ice cream, I know it's simple but it's always been my favourite, and then Draco got two scoops of mint choc chip - he said it was to share with Indie but I know he's just going to give her one spoonful then eat the rest for himself.
"Madam Malkin's next?" he asked once we'd finished our ice creams.
"Yeah, that's probably best", I said, before standing up and following him over to the robe shop.
We chose our robes and got them fitted then paid for them, but when we were about to leave, Madam Malkin stopped us.
"Would you like some robes for the little one?" she asked, "I'm sure I could make her some."
I looked up to Draco with a huge grin on my face. Thinking of our daughter wearing the same uniform as us made my heart burst. We exchanged a quick look and I could tell he was thinking the exact same thing as me.
"What house will she wear though?" he asked.
I knew he wanted her to wear Slytherin, but I, of course, wanted her to wear Ravenclaw, and she was too young to be sorted so I just said, "Why don't we get one of each so we can take it in turns? We have the money."
I could see that he was a little disappointed that she wasn't just going to wear the Slytherin robes, but I knew he understood. "Yeah, sure. But dibs her being Slytherin on the first day!"
"Fuck you!" I moaned, which made him laugh.
"Fuck you!" Indie repeated, making me gasp and Draco laugh even harder so he was now doubled over and clutching his stomach.
"Ignore your daddy Indie, he's being silly. But please don't say that again", I said. I tried to hold in my laugh but I just couldn't help it.
After Draco and I had calmed down a bit and finally stopped laughing, we got her robes and paid for them. We just ended up getting only the robes and not the rest of the uniform so that she would be more comfortable and it would be easier to change her.
"What are you gonna do with Indie at school? As in are you still going to try and hide the fact that you have a child or not?" he asked as we walked out the shop, hand in hand.
"I don't think it's worth trying to hide her, I mean, we have got her robes after all", I laughed. "People will probably find out about her eventually anyways, so I might as well just always have her with me. Plus, it means I get to spend more time with her."
"What about you?" I asked. He probably knew what my answer was going to me before he asked me, but with him, I have absolutely no idea what he was going to say so I listened eagerly.
"If I'm being honest," he began, "if I was the same person I was three or so years ago, I would've definitely hid her, and I wouldn't even be caught dead with a Ravenclaw, yet alone a child." When he said this, I could feel myself frowning ever so slightly at his confession.
"However," he continued, "as I've said multiple times before, I've changed so, so much since then. You and Indie have changed me for the better. So, of course I'm not going to try and hide her, I'm way to proud of her to do that!" Him saying this made me smile so much, and I could see a smile spread across his face as well.
"Besides, have you seen how cute she is?! How could I possibly not want to show her off?" he joked.
"Dada proud of me!" Indie exclaimed, clapping her hands together.
"Yes he is!" Draco said, as he picked her up out of my arms and into his. "Daddy is so, so proud of you princess."
"And guess what?" I said to her.
"What?" she asked, almost inaudibly as she was still just learning to form sentences.
"You are going to school with mummy and daddy!" I told her, not being able to hold in my own excitement. "Are you excited?"
"Yay!" she shouted, as she clapped her hands together even more and tried to jump up and down, but she couldn't as Draco was holding onto her protectively.
"Alright, now that we've got everything we need," Draco said, "we should probably be heading back now so we can start packing as we're leaving in not even two days."
That being said, we apparated back my parents house and began packing for Indie's first ever day at Hogwarts at only 18 months old.
+++++
Author's Note:
As you could probably already tell, I am now going off of the books and movies, and I've changed a couple of things for this story. All of the main characters who survived will be going back to Hogwarts for their eight year in this story, even though that didn't happen in the actual books.
Anyways, with that sorted out, let me know what you thought of this chapter! xx
