《Baby Daddy》10. Welcome

Even though I had my own problems to worry about, I couldn't help but wonder what was going on with Delilah as I walked back to Transfiguration class. I knew she hated me after the comment I made almost nine months ago, the day after I slept with her, but my heart hurt hearing her screams and whimpers of pain as I carried her to the infirmary. I so badly wanted to find out what was actually wrong, but I knew she would probably never tell me.
I had noticed that something was probably wrong with her over the past few months, but I couldn't work out what. I didn't attend many classes as I spent most of my time on the Vanishing Cabinet, but when I did, I noticed her friends would always look at her slightly strangely and check she was okay. Also, after dinners in the Great Hall, she would hardly ever follow her friends back to the Ravenclaw Common Room, but go in the opposite direction.
As I arrived back into the classroom, Grayson straight away said "Is she okay?"
"Yeah, I guess. I had to carry her halfway though as she couldn't walk", I said, talking more to McGonagall than Grayson so she knew I had followed her instructions.
"Did you hurt her Malfoy, because if you did I'll kil-" he began.
"That is quite enough boys, Miss Davis is now in safe hands so if we could please continue on with the lesson", she interrupted.
Reluctantly, Grayson turned away from me and back down to his work as I did the same thing.
At the end of the lesson, Grayson ran out as fast as he could towards the infirmary and, to be honest, I was quite tempted to follow him, but then I remembered the cabinet and how I only have until the end of the year to fix it, so instead I made my up to the seventh floor and into the Room of Requirements.
I was lying in the hospital bed, trying to get some rest in between contractions, as Madam Pomfrey said I have a couple of hours until I am ready to push, when the door to the infirmary burst open and in came Gray and Ash, quickly followed by Cho and Luna.
"Oh my gosh Lilah! How are-" Ash started to say, before Madam Pomfrey told them to be quiet.
"Sshhh... try not to be too loud, she needs as much rest as she can when she isn't having contractions."
"Rest?! How can she rest when she's in labour!" Gray shouted.

"Guys it's okay," I interrupted, "I have a few hours until I am able to push so don't panic." I felt another contraction coming on so I sat up and clutched my stomach, making them all rush over to me as quickly as they could.
Once it passed I said "Can someone please owl my sister and tell her I'm in labour?" I secretly hoped she wouldn't be working and would be able to come and help me get through the birth.
"I will", Luna said whilst taking her bag off her shoulder and putting it on my side table. She grabbed a piece of parchment and quill and started to write, "Do you want me to owl your parents as well?"
"Oh, no. Just my sister, she'll tell them", I quickly replied. I forgot I hadn't told them about the letter I received, and now definitely wasn't the time to tell them that my parent were being hunted down by the Death Eaters.
As I thought more about it, I realised that I hadn't heard from them since that letter they sent just before Christmas, and that was almost two months ago. I started to get a bit worried but then I just hoped that it was because they didn't want the letter to be found, and lead the Death Eaters to them, if they haven't already been found.
"Hello Lilah, can you hear me?" Ash said, waving her arms in front of my face. I then realised I had completely zoned out whilst she must have been talking to me.
"Sorry, what was that?" I asked her.
"I said have you thought of any names for the baby yet?" she repeated. I looked around and saw that everyone was watching intently, eager to hear the answer.
"I haven't actually", I said, I had been so nervous about having to give birth that I completely forgot that I have to name her. "Do you guys have any ideas?" I asked, needing some suggestions as she was going to be here in a matter of hours.
"What about Everleigh?" said Ash.
"Or Maddie?" said Grayson.
"Or Lyra?" said Cho.
"Or Daisy?" said Luna.
I thought about it for a second before replying, "I'm not sure, I'm gonna have to think about it a bit more before coming to a final decision." They all looked a little disappointed that I didn't choose their name suggestion, but I could see that they understood - after all, this was a huge decision and something that would stay with me for the rest of my life.

"Okay girls and boys, chit chat time is over so I think it's best if you continue on to your next lessons before you are late. We don't want you getting into trouble now do we?" Madam Pomfrey said, ushering them out of the room for me to get some rest.
-----
Many hours had past and it was now the evening, just after sunset, and my contractions were getting more and more painful by the minute.
"Okay dear, I think you are ready to start pushing", she said after checking me.
"Really?!" I said, suddenly becoming incredibly nervous.
"Really", she said. She looked over to my friends and then back at me, then said "I think it's best if we only have one extra person during the birth process, so who will it be?"
I was about to make my decision but then I heard someone walking through the infirmary doors and changed my mind, because walking through those doors was the one person I wanted to see - Anna.
"Anna! You made it!" I shouted, causing everyone to spin around and see who I was talking to.
"Oh course I did D, wouldn't miss it for the world", she replied before coming over to the bed I was laying in and holding my hand.
"Is that your decision then dear?" she asked.
"I think so, yes," I confirmed as I turned to the others, "I'm sorry guys, but I promise you can come in as soon as she is born.
"Okay", they muffled, clearly disappointed but understanding at the same time. They all gave me a quick hug goodbye before exiting through the big double doors.
Madam Pomfrey walked around the room a bit, collecting some items, whilst I got ready on the bed. Once she had got everything she needed, she walked back over to me and prepared everything. When she was done, she closed the curtain around my hospital bed and put a silencing charm around the area. She had also got McGonagall to watch over the infirmary in case any students came in and needed help.
"Are you ready Delilah?" she asked.
"As ready as I'll ever be", I said, with a mixture of nervousness and excitement. This was the moment I had been waiting for for the past seven, almost eight, months since I found out.
Anna held my hand tighter as I began to push as hard as could. It was far more painful than the contractions were and I was incredibly thankful for the silencing charm as I'm sure I would've woken the whole school by now with my screams of pain. It also took a lot longer than I had expected it to, as an hour after I had originally started, Madam Pomfrey said to me:
"It's okay dear, just one more push and you'll be done", she reassured me whilst Anna wiped some of the sweat that had formed on my face off with a towel.
"I can't do it- I can't", I cried, too tired to continue.
"Yes you can D, I know you can", Anna encouraged me. "Think of it this way, one more push and your baby girl will be in our world. You'll be able to cuddle her and kiss her as much as you like for the rest of your life."
That did it for me, thinking of getting to meet my little girl. I grabbed onto Anna's hand again, which I was surprised wasn't broken yet, and got ready to do one final push. I pushed as hard as I possibly could until little cries filled the room, my daughter's cries. Madam Pomfrey held her up for me to see before whisking her away.
"Hey, where did she go?" I asked to Anna, tears of relief streaming down my face, upset that I didn't get to properly meet my daughter.
"It's okay," she began, wiping my tears away with the now sweaty towel, "she's gone to check that she is all fine and healthy. You'll get to meet her soon, don't worry."
"Oh, okay", I replied.
A few minutes later, after I had caught my breath again and my baby's cries had quietened down a bit, I saw Madam Pomfrey walking back over to me with my daughter wrapped in a blanket in her arms. She placed her into my arms and I just stared at her in awe, cradling her as close to me as I possibly could without hurting her.
As I stared down at the bundle of joy in my arms, I hadn't even noticed my friends coming in, over to the bed and also staring down at my newly born daughter in delight. Once I finally realised they were there, I looked up at them and said:
"Everyone, meet Indigo Rose Davis - or Indie for short."

THE WHISPERS IN THIS DARK, CRUEL, AND GHOSTLY WORLD
(Vampires & Humans Vs. Werewolves & Ghosts???)It is the year 2201, and the human race is at war with not only the next evolution of the human race, werewolves, but also against Nature itself. An Ancient race of underground dwellers called vampires live and tries to protect humanity by bringing the human population underground in their habitat. The humans and Vampires live in fear of the werewolves, but that is not all, If this was the worst of it all, then it would have been a rather nice end for a good bedtime story about humans and vampires leaving in harmony underground, but this was not the end and neither is this a bedtime story. Nature (planet) still had big plans for the world, even with the creation of its henchmen, the werewolves (who have no control over themselves at all, merely acting based solely on their biological instincts), that was still not enough for nature. Nature still needed one last thing, something that could give those werewolves orders, tell them what to do, guide them, something that would be a personification of nature itself, something that would be nature's full power, with its wisdom and knowledge, something that would be its symbol. Ghosts.
