《Baby Daddy》8. My Return

(Credit to J.K Rowling for some of the dialogue in this chapter).
Before I knew it, the summer was over and it was my first day of sixth year. I was stood in front of my mirror, sideways, with my hand on my now slightly visible baby bump, admiring it. I was only just over three months along, but I was already so attached the the little person growing inside of me and I couldn't wait to meet them.
"Come on darling, it's time to leave if you don't want to miss the train!" Mary shouted up that stairs, starting the get a little impatient as this was the third time she had called for me to leave.
"Okay, coming. Just a second mom", I finally shouted back down. I pushed back down my oversized t-shirt which luckily covered my bump, grabbed my two bags then went down stairs to travel to the train station.
Once we apparated to Platform 9 3/4, I hugged my moms and said goodbye before walking off to try and find my friends. Whilst looking for them, I was suddenly hit with a wave of morning sickness, making me stop in my tracks and clutch my stomach, causing someone to bump right into me.
I looked up and was about to apologise to whoever's path I blocked until I saw who it was.
Draco fucking Malfoy.
Of all the people on this platform why did it have to be him?!
Once my morning sickness had pretty much gone away I said, "I'm sorry, I got a- a- a cramp?" That was the first thing that came to my mind so hopefully he bought it.
"Well next time, don't stop in the middle of the fucking station", he said and before I could respond he had walked off.
Something was definitely different about him. He looked a lot more tired than he did last year, with slight bags under his eyes, and his skin had a bit of a greyish tinge to it. He'd also gotten quite a lot taller, but also quite a bit skinnier - he looked like he hadn't eaten properly in a good few weeks. I don't know if I'd go as far to say I was worried about him but I was-
"Lilah!" Ash interrupted my thoughts as she swung her arms around me. "How are you feeling? You look a little startled."
"I'm okay now. I just had a little bit of morning sickness, but it's gone now", I said quietly, making sure she was the only one who heard it.

"Okay, but do say if your feeling sick or anything", she said, taking my arm and leading me onto the train.
We entered a compartment which was already preoccupied with Cho and Luna on one side, and Gray on the other. Ash went over to sit next to Gray, and I followed and sat beside her.
-----
The train ride went by quickly as we caught up on everyone's summers, talked about what our sixth year was going to be like and played some muggle cars games thanks to Gray's deck of cards. When we arrived at the station I started to feel a bit sick again so I stayed sat down whilst everyone began to exit the compartment.
"I won't be a minute," I said as I saw they were going to wait for me, "you guys go on".
"It's okay," Luna said to the others, "I'll stay with her". And with that, the others reluctantly went on the way so that they didn't miss the carriages.
A couple of minutes passed of me feeling nauseous and not being able to stand, whilst Luna read her Quibbler, and then the nausea finally went away. "Okay, I'm ready to go", I told Luna as I was finally able to stand.
"Oh good," she said, closing the copy of the Quibbler she was reading, "let's get going then."
We were almost off the train when Luna stopped and put on these weirdly shaped glasses. "What're you doing?" I asked her out of pure curiosity.
"Just looking around", she said before continuing on down the train corridor, past the door. I would love to know what is going on in this girls head.
Not knowing what else to do, I follow her down the train as I didn't want to be alone in case I suddenly felt nauseous again. We walked for a minute or so until she stopped, pulled out her wand and said a spell I couldn't quite hear. Suddenly, Harry Potter appeared on the floor, looking like he was just unconscious, with a bloody nose. What the...
"Hello Harry", said Luna after Harry began to stand up off the floor.
"Luna, Delilah, how did you know where I was?" he asked.
"Wrapspurts, your head's full of them."
"Sorry I made you guys miss the carriages, by the way" Harry said once we were off the train.
"That's alright, it's like being with a friend", she said.
"Well I am your friend Luna. And Delilah."

"That's nice", I said.
After we made it through the gate, Luna fixed Harry's nose, but he wouldn't tell us how he broke it, or ended up on the floor. I'd never really talked to Harry that much before, even though I was good friends with Hermione, so it was nice to have a chat with him and Luna as we walked to the castle.
It didn't take us too long to get there, but by the time we had gotten there and changed into our uniform, the sorting was already over and Dumbledore was making his speech. Once he had finished he signalled for me to come over to him. I was very worried at first and I thought I was going to get into trouble for coming in late but then it realised it was probably going to be about my current situation.
"Sorry to keep you after I have dismissed everyone Delilah but I would like to discuss your sleeping arrangements for this year, considering you are going to have a child soon. Congratulations by the way", he said.
"Oh, thank you Professor", I replied, not knowing what else to say to that.
"Your parents requested for you to have your own private apartment area next to the infirmary so that way you will be closer to Madam Pomfrey and won't disturb any students when you awake in the night with the child." That must be the birthday gift my parents were telling me about! "So, Madam Pomfrey has requested for you to go and see her straight away. And don't worry, your bags have already been sent there for you".
"Thank you Professor", I said before he nodded goodbye and walked out of the Great Hall.
Ash, Luna and Cho were waiting for me outside of the Hall and I told them exactly what Dumbledore had told me just moments earlier. Not wanting me to be on my own, they all came with me to the infirmary to check in with Madam Pomfrey and see where I was going to be staying for the whole of this year.
As soon as we arrived Madam Pomfrey rushed over to me and lay me down on one of the beds to do a quick check up on me. I was incredibly excited when she told me, "You are now far enough along in your pregnancy to find out the gender of the baby, would you like to know?"
Ash, Cho and Luna all looked at me excitedly before I replied with, "Definitely, yes please!" I was so eager to know what gender I was having and, by the looks of it, so where the others.
"Wonderful, now just give me a minute", she said before uttering a spell with her wand. "Okay, are you ready to know?" she asked, wanting to make sure I definitely wanted to know.
"Yes", all four of us said in unison.
"So Delilah, you are having a baby..." she paused for a dramatic effect before continuing on "girl!" We all cheered at the brilliant news, even Madam Pomfrey.
"I had secretly been hoping for a girl, boys can be so annoying sometimes", Ash confessed.
"Yeah, I'd have been happy either way but I did want it to be a girl a bit more than I wanted it to be a boy", I said. Cho and Luna also nodded in agreement, all of our faces full of happiness.
"Everything else seems perfectly healthy with the baby," Madam Pomfrey said, making me smile, "so now I thinks it's time to show you to your new dorm."
I pulled down my top, covering up my growing baby bump, jumped off the bed and followed her to the corner of the room where we saw a door that definitely wasn't there last year. She opened up the door to reveal a small living room and kitchen area and, at the side of the room, I could see three doors which I assumed lead to the bathroom, bedroom and nursery, and as I explored it further I realised that my assumptions were correct. Dumbledore really wasn't lying when he said it was an apartment I thought to myself, realising how lucky I was to have my own private space.
"I will be just next door if you need anything, do not hesitate to come and find me if you feel that anything is wrong", she told me just as she and the other girls were leaving. I thanked her then shut the door behind them, leaving me alone in my new apartment.
I placed my hand on my belly and said "Everything's going to be okay little girl, mommy loves you."

Pawns of God
Five Lines PitchJoin Mark in his fight against a God and change the game's destiny! Delve into a slow-paced story focused on the progression of the main party and the development of the world. Mark himself will be narrating his life inside the game, and to a much lesser extend outside. Guild building, economy, and strategy are the central pieces of the novel. Mark is not overpowered, he will have to build his own power through action-packed battles, trials, traumas, love, and death. Accompany him, the healer and the strategist, an agent of chaos, in the adventure of his life. Without further preamble, I will let Mark take the mic. SynopsisHi! My name is Mark. This is my story, my life as I live it day after day. I’m in my thirties, and there’s nothing I love more than playing online games. I’ve just joined the action on the newest VRMMO game, Pawns of God. An immersive experience you can play while sleeping. Of course, as a game that takes pride in its long development and technological advances, everything inside seems and feels real. Beware, this is not a game-turns-real story. I love my own world and I would detest being summoned into another one. If that ever happens, I’ll just quickly take my life and be done with it. I play with my friends, in a party of 5. We have taken several roles, but lately, I've come to love being a healer. It's my secret ambition to someday be the shotcaller. I am not overpowered. If there is any bug or exploit in the game, they are yet to be discovered. Anyhow, for a game of this scale, the company is pouring all of its resources into test servers, QA, and beta tests. I don’t expect to find any, so I’ll be playing the game just like any other person. I must say, though, I am easily distracted, as you will immediately notice once you start. I'm working on it, I promise to improve! I am no hero. Being in my 30s, my heart is too old for this shit. I wouldn’t mind being one, of course. Who hasn’t dreamt of it? Either way, I’m not doing any grand quest to save the world. Whatever the game throws to their users, I’ll be there to experience it. Most of my life, at least the interesting parts that I’ll be narrating, happen inside the game itself. Rarely, there will be some IRL (In Real Life) chapters. You’ll understand, however, that as a freelance software developer, there is not much I can entertain you with when outside the game. Did I say I love games? Well, I’m also a fan of LitRPG literature. You know, journeys of magic, relationships, personal development, items, skills, discovery… In the spirit of not overwhelming my public, I’ll condense each chapter into circa 1500 words. You might have noticed some tags over this story, let me elaborate. I like to swear. I’m not shy when it comes to cursing my enemies, friends, or even myself. When there’s blood, I tell it as I see it. And… it hurts to admit it, but I’m not a casanova. Of course, this doesn’t mean that I won’t ever find love. So, in case I do end up finding it, let’s keep my sexual options open. As for traumas, none yet, but the future is vast and unknown. Release Schedule The schedule is subject to change, particularly if enough readers end up loving it. All chapters are already written, thus there is enough freedom to modify them. A Merchants Tale
Legends rise. Country’s fall. Empires wage war. But what supports these great powers, allowing them to function as a single organism. Is it the common man, Farmers and Millers forming the backbone of the land? The Soldiers and Guards keeping public order? The Wives and Widows supporting from the side-lines? The Nobles from their seats of power? Or the elusive Sorcerers who wield power untold? And what maggots crawl in this great creature, all trying to get a piece of its slowly decaying flesh. The gangs of the Underworld hidden in the shadows? The Bandits and Deserters hiding at the edges, ready to pounce on any weakness? Witches and Warlocks working their dark art? Or other Nations clawing at their neighbour’s, salivating over the riches they stand to gain from another’s demise. There is one group that belongs to neither group. They thrive on others misfortune and bring with them salvation and destruction in equal measure. They can raise a kingdom up or tear it down screaming and kicking. These are the merchants, the lifeblood of kingdoms, because what is the one thing above all else men crave. Is it Love? Power? Destruction? All these things can be acquired with one simple thing. Wealth. Wealth is the true power behind the world. Wealth can buy army’s, strangle kingdoms, and turn even the most devout man from his faith. Merchants come in many forms, shapes and sized, some gaudy, bleeding the people for all their worth, some tricky, preferring to make contracts and debts to trap men. And some desperate, doing all they can to sell even the most worthless of junk. This is a story of one merchant who goes against all a merchant stands for. He works not for profit but for some unseen goal, a prophesy aeons old. He comes and goes like a ghost, bringing with him hope and victory. All pray for his arrival to spare them from despair. But what about when he doesn’t show? What about the people he doesn’t save? For this man is no angel, no saint sent to save the masses. His goal was never to deliver hope. It merely isn’t time for their destruction yet. For nothing is eternal. And all things must end. But what comes after? Quick disclaimer in response to the review I got, this is my first story and somewhat of an experiment for me, hopefully my writing will get better the more I practice. Thanks for any helpful advice :)
