《The Alpha is my Mate ✏️ (rewriting)》Chapter 10

I'm leaning against my locker with my beta, Jeff, standing next to me. I'm scanning everyone around the halls, watching all of their movements. My eyes absentmindedly land on Allie and I notice she's talking to someone. I can't see who it is because her back is turned towards me and the most noticeable feature is her red hair. Allison and her friend walk down the hall until they stop at their lockers. I watch Allison grab some textbooks from her locker, and then I notice a couple guys standing against a wall next to the locker, staring at her. Something about the way they're looking at her makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I stand up straighter, observing the guys actions. They're talking to each other with their heads moving back and forth in Allisons direction. I think that maybe they aren't looking at her, but when the people around her walk away and the guys keep looking in her direction, I know that I am right.

I watch as the guys laugh as they talk, and one of them wearing a gray hat with lettering on it starts walking towards Allison. I feel anger wash over me watching him stride over to her. She turns to look at him, makes eye contact with me and then turns her attention to her friend. The guy with the hat stops right next to her, and I can tell he says something because she turns to face him. Her textbooks are pressed against her chest as she responds to him. I'm staring directly at him as he places his hand against the locker next to her. He starts trying to engage in a conversation with her, and with the way shes playing with her hair it looks like she's uncomfortable. I start walking towards them, neither of them noticing me and slip my arm around Allies waist. The guy stares at me and brings his arm down to his side, and I stare back at him. Allison looks up at me with a shocked expression. "What's going on here?" I question.

He just chuckles and responds, "Nothing man. We were just chatting." He shrugs and I just give him a nod. He stays standing there, glancing down at my arm around her waist before shooting Allison a small smile and walking away. He has less confidence in his stride as he makes his way back towards his friend. I make eye contact with his friend and he looks down, scratching the back of his neck. When the guy with the hat makes it to over to his buddy, they immediately start walking away without looking at us.

I notice Allisons friend staring back and forth from me to my arm with a shocked expression on her face. Glancing down at Allie, I see a noticeable blush is covering the tip of her and nose and cheeks. She's giving me a shy and nervous smile and I cant help but smile back at her. I move my arm from her waist and lean against the locker next to hers. She turns to look at me and I watch as her tongue grazes her bottom lip. For some reason I start thinking back to when we were younger and how she still kinda looks the same, just more mature. I can't help but stare, shes so beautiful. I've always noticed her in the halls and thought she was attractive, but that night at the club made me understand the attraction even more. I also cant help but think about the way she looked in her dress.

Thinking back to when we were about 11 years old, I think about how we used to have a couple a classes together. I remember how I used to have a crush on her back then, but then again I also had a crush on other girls. It's crazy to think about all of that, and then everything that's happening now. I used to be shy back then, I didn't grow out of it until I was about 15 years old. Back then, I never talked to her because I never knew what to say. I do remember how after my crush on Allie went away, it took about a month for me to move on to Vanessa Ols.

I stop thinking about that time and focus back on Allie. The halls are almost empty, with only a handful of people, Allie, her friend and I. "Well, that was awkward." I smirk, trying to joke about the situation. Allison giggles at my comment, and her friend shoots me a dark glare. "What's your name?" I turn, asking her friend.

"Catie." She mutters, still glaring at me. I can't help but look back at Allison, and my eyes absentmindedly move towards her full lips, remembering how they felt against mine. The kiss just felt so different than with other girls; it felt good.

I run my fingers through my hair before I turn back to face her friend. "I'm M-"

I cant even finish talking before Catie snaps at me, "I know who you are." I ignore her and make eye contact with Allison again. I never feel this way, but I really want to kiss her. Normally, I dont really care for kissing but with Allison, everything feels different. When I say everything feels different, I really mean it. I mean I can see myself marking her, and that's something I've never really thought of before.

'Mase, you're practically drooling.' Jeff, my beta, mind-linked me with a smirk. I haven't been called that name by my friends since I was 6, but the person who always kept that nickname around was my mother. Whenever you become Alpha, there's a link to whoever is your second and third in command which allows you to communicate through the brain. 'Shut up.' I demand. I hear him chuckle from somewhere and I choose to ignore him. She isn't looking at me anymore and her friend Catie has left. I put my finger under her chin and make her look at me. The way she is staring at me triggers the memory of what happened between us in the woods.

' "Mason." She whispers staring up at me. Her breathing is jagged and I can feel her heart beating against my chest. Her hair is messed up with a flush against her cheeks from shifting. The way she is looking up at me makes me feel some types of way and I want her even more. Even though her breathing is erratic, her body feels relaxed in my arms. I continuously take in deep breaths, and I feel like drowning in her scent. I've never smelt someone who smelt so good.

"What is going on?" Justins aggitating voice cuts in making my grip on her tighten. She immediately unwraps her legs from my waist and gets out of my arms, looking back and forth from me and Justin.'

Damn it. Justin really pissed me off when he ruined mine and Allisons moment. I just wanted to be alone with her, than Madison and Justin interrupted us and a shitshow soon followed that.

My mind wanders back to that moment. I wonder, what was she was going to tell me? I make it a plan to ask her later. I run my hands through my hair and watch Allison walk away from me. Her locker is shut and I watch her retreating figure head in the direction of the lunch room. I sigh and notice the halls are almost empty.

~

I start walking away from Mason and the bell rings, signaling its time for lunch. I have one strap of my bag over my shoulder, and a notebook in my hand. I stride into the big cafeteria and hear the loud chatter echoing throughout the room. I stop, trying to find someone that I'm familiar with. As I'm scanning the room, my cousin walks up next to me. We walk through the line and grab a plate of food.

"Happy late birthday to you. Happy late birthday to you. Happy late birthday Allie Wallie, happy late birthday to you." My annoying cousin, James, sings as we make our way to the table. I roll my eyes at the stupid nickname and take a seat next to Catie. There are a few other friends around the table, including Madison and Tyler. I wish Evan had the same lunch as us because even though I'm disappointed he's not my mate, he's still one of my best friends. Tyler is sitting directly across from me, avoiding eye contact. James takes the seat on the other side of me with a big grin on his face. I don't know why but James always seems so happy. "So, how was your birthday?" He questions, snatching a few French fries from my plate and shoving them in his big mouth. I'm shocked that barely anyone knows that's I found my mate, not even people apart of my pack or even family members. I always thought being the Alphas sister would make news like this spread like wildfire. Our pack is one of the biggest in the area, and my secret has been able to be kept quiet.

"It was okay." I shrug. I debate on even bringing it up. Does he really need to know? At this point, I kind of wish that this would've been big new and everyone would be talking about it so I wouldn't have to keep explaining what and how it happened. Knowing James and his loud mouth, this news would probably spread.

"What'd you do?" He asks, reaching for my plate again, causing me to swat his hand away. Madison remains quiet and leaves her food untouched, probably replaying everything that happened that night and the days after. Before, Madison always loved butting into my conversations and responding for me, but maybe she learned after she confessed everything to my parents. Her doing that caused a lot of things to happen in the days after.

"Well," I start, glancing over at Madison, "Madison took me to a few clubs, we went to see Evan-"

James cuts me off, "Evan Parker?" I nod. Madison keeps her eyes on her plate, playing with her food but everyone else at the table is listening to my story. Everyone's eyes are staring directly at me which makes me shift in my seat. "Okay go on." He says, waiting for me to go on.

"Madison and I had a few drink and danced with some strangers and just hand fun." I shrug as I bite into a fry. Inside my head I'm battling with if I should tell the whole group or not. I glance over and make eye contact with Catie and she looks like she's about to say something. I turn back towards James, and continue, "I-" I pause, trying to find the words I want to say. "I also found my mate that night, James." James drops the fry he was holding and just stares at me, dumbfounded. I look around and notice everyone around the table is staring at me. We all know its very rare for someone finding their mate the same day they turn 18. The normal age for someone to find their mate is usually around 20 years old.

"Allison," James looks as if he's trying to piece together what to say. "Are you serious?" He questions, many emotions evident in his voice and face. Shock, disbelief, and jealousy are the main ones I can sense. James has yet to find his mate, and he is almost 19 years old. He's the type of guy that wants to be loyal to one person forever, and he hopes he'll find his mate soon. He's always talked about it ever since we were kids. I look over and see Madison has a slight smile on her face. "Who is he?" James pushes, not taking his eyes off of me. I'm feeling nervous right now, so I just munch on the food in front of me.

At this school, we get really good food. It's surprising but true. We go to an all werewolf school so it's easier to be.. Well us. We don't have to hide who we are because we aren't surrounded by a bunch of normal humans. There are some schools that have a mix of werewolves and humans, some with humans and vampires, and some with all three just depending on the area. At schools like that, we would have to hide ourselves to keep our secrets hidden, so even the vampires and werewolves wouldn't know eachothers secret because they don't know who's human and who has a secret of their own.

I search the cafeteria looking for him. My eyes scan the table he usually sits at and I notice he's already staring at me, causing a blush to fill my cheeks. He grins and shoots me a wink, causing me to return the smile. I look down at his lip and think about hen he kissed me. James tries to follow my eyes and is looking around, but I don't think he realizes who I'm looking at. Mason and I look eyes, and I proceed to tell the whole group, "I'll let it be a mystery for now."

I don't even touch my food because I've been looking over at Allie, trying to figure out what she's been talking about. Her head swivels from side to side, scanning the cafeteria. I'm leaning back in my seat and she stops searching the room when she finds me. I smile at her and give her a flirty wink which causes her to smile. I cant help but think she looks hot right now. She holds my gaze with a certain look on her face that I can't describe. I just want to do so many things to her. She says something while still staring at me, and I notice the guy sitting next to her is looking in my direction but doesn't look at me. He says something that makes her turn towards him and they start talking. I focus on him and I absentmindedly clench my fists. I think the guy next to her is named Jim? No, I think its James. I look down and unclench my fists, sitting up straighter in the chair. I don't know why I get so jealous when it comes to her, it can be as little as a guy just talking to her. I sigh, removing my gaze from Allison and focus on other things.

~

Walking down the hall with Jeff to my left, I catch a glimpse out of the corner of my eye of Allison walking to her locker alone. "I'll catch up with you later." I announce to Jeff, and he doesn't question anything and walks away. I stride over to Allie, closing the gap between us. She's shuffling through her locker with her back turned to me. Once I'm behind her, I whisper in her ear, "Hello beautiful." I notice her locker is very organized, with store bought shelves and books placed on top and under the shelves. Mine is semi organized but definitely not as organized as hers. She looks over her shoulder at me and smiles.

She finishes grabbing her books for class and shuts her locker. She sets the lock in place and turns towards me. "You ready for class?" She asks, walking in the direction of the classroom and I walk next to her. Allie and I have the next two classes together- these classes are usually the ones I skip out on.

"Oh yeah, definitely." I say sarcastically. I loosely wrap my arm around her shoulders and she shrugs it off. I can tell she wants it, but I can tell shes also trying to push me away and not think about how she feels about me. She takes a step away from me and speeds up.

I walk into the classroom with Mason right on my heels. I can feel the warmth of his body, and I want it to engulf me. I'm trying to bury these feelings I have for him but he is not making it easy. As soon as we pass the threshold of the door, Shelby steps in front of Mason. She looks at me with disgust plastered all over her face, disliking the lack of distance between Mason and I. She is attracted to my brother but I know that she is also attracted to Mason. Hell, she's probably attracted to most of the guys in school. Mostly, she tries to get the young Alphas to get in bed with her but really she would sleep with anyone.

"Hey big boy." She purrs in his ear, placing her manicured hand on his chest. If this was any normal school, Shelby would definitely be dress-coded everyday. Today, she is wearing a tight fitting, very short dress that if she bent down you'd be able to see everything. Mason doesn't hesitate to move her hand off of his chest which I'm surprisingly glad he did. She looks at him confused but just shrugs it off saying in a silky voice,"Come on baby. Come over and have fun tonight. I'll promise I'll make it better than before." Hearing that makes me feel a twang in my stomach.

"No Shelby." He states, darkly. He hasn't looked at her at all, and he looks mad.

She fakes a pout,"Why no–" I feel myself getting agitated and I start shifting between my feet. She tries to wrap her arms around his neck and he immediately grabs her hands to stop him.

"He said no Shelby. So back the fuck off." I growl, glowering at her. I stare straight in her eyes as she turns to look at me with a dirty expression. Mason is staring directly at me, expressionless.

"No one asked you, bitch." She laughs, stepping closer to me, "This is between me and Mason. I already know that he'll change his mind. He'll call me, and I'll go over to his pack and to his room, and I'll give him the best night of his life." The look on her face and her words disgust me. My blood starts to boil and I raise my hand to slap her when Mason grips my wrist.

Mason won't let go of my wrist, and I look Shelby dead in the eye. I snap my arm out of his grip and step closer to Shelby. I gawk at her, getting in her face and calmly speak in a low voice so people around us don't hear me, "Do you know why you won't be going to his room tonight?" She tilts her head, sneering at me and crosses her arms. "It's because I'm his mate, and you are nothing but a disgusting girl who can't keep her clothes on." She stares at me dumbfounded, and I leave her to take a seat at a desk. Mason strides past her and sits behind me. Shelby stands in shock for a minute before taking a seat all the way across the room.
