《Flashback {Toruka}》Flashback 29

Yamashita Toru, the founder of ONE OK ROCK, known as its benevolent leader and genius guitarist. It was early November when he sat alone in his narrow home studio, it helped him regain memories, feel the nostalgia of the job he loved the most. Toru bathed in perfect silence, only the soft hustling of the city streamed in to disturb his peace. He closed his eyes, his arms around his favourite guitar.
The blonde man tilted the instrument slightly, his hands gliding over the handle lovingly. Those strings that accompanied him for more than a decade now, swiftly translating his emotions into notes, saving him the trouble of words. It was also those strings that started his search for the vocalist, who by now was easily the most precious person in his life. A smirk was reflected on his closed windows, he remembered the time Taka admitted that he doesn't practice guitar well because he depends on Toru. That sentence alone was enough to motivate him to train harder, to polish his skills, make Taka lean on him more...
Soft strums rose with the sound of speeding cars as Toru's fingers stroked the delicate cords. He felt his muscles relax, the edges of his surroundings soften, it felt nice, but lacking. The guitarist looked beside him, at the chair that stood empty. He scanned the void area, his heart ached subtly. It was back in April that Taka occupied that seat, back when this very room was warm and lively. He smiled as he visualised the way Taka hugged his knees, the way he fidgeted his feet as he concentrated, or even his little pout when Toru gave attention to his work more than him. They were all small details that have grown dear to his heart, they fulfilled the void that once resided.

As for his current situation, he knew he shouldn't feel sad, yet he couldn't help but miss the energetic presence of the vocalist. As lovers and bandmates, they couldn't help but spend every day together; their vacations, nights, days, concerts, production, they spend it all together. As a result, their routines have become boring. So to avoid that, they came up with what seemed like a solution back then. Taka was all the way over in LA, taking the promised break they agreed on. Every once in a while, they decide on a somehow extended break, away from each other. To others, it may sound absurd, but it worked, they always came back refreshed with reset mindsets, and their relationship flourishes all over again.
As he sank deeper and deeper in thought, Toru didn't realise it as time ran around the clock. The sun soon started setting down, and he still aimlessly strummed on his guitar. Maybe he should go back on that promise, but what if Taka really needed it? Thoughts confused him as he resumed his longing for his petite lover. All he could do was hope he would be back sooner than later.
Toru's phone buzzed softly in the tiny room, pulling him out of his thoughts. His eyes widened as he read the name. "I missed you" was the first sentence he uttered as he received the call, his heart warming up as the other one giggled at his eagerness. As Taka explained the reason he called, Toru's hand covered his mouth, and his eyes moistened ever so lightly. "I'll be there!" He assured as he ran towards his closet.
***********
Just as he promised, Toru arrived at the airport a while later. He frantically looked around. Some people were crying, others laughing, some were headed in and lots were leaving. But none of them was his black haired boyfriend. He looked towards the arrivers' aisle, maybe Taka would come out, but he wasn't there either. "TORU!"

A painfully familiar voice yelled from behind him.
Within a partial second, Toru turned on his heels. There he was, standing face flushed and grin wide, none other than his most beloved. They both simultaneously ran, too anxious to wait another second. Taka jumped on Toru, hugging his neck tight. Toru in turn squeezed his back, spinning them around. He burried his nose in the older man's neck, whispering once again, "I missed you so much"
"Me too, Toru" Taka mouthed back, running his hand through Toru's blond locks.

I post at least once a week. I cannot promise you a story you enjoy reading, but I can promise you a story I enjoy writing. Thank you. ------------------------------------------ The sword is greater than a simple weapon; an answer to life's questions. An extension of thine master's hand, guided by wrist. Care it not whether guilty or innocent blood shed, for be it a mere edge, a weapon. For blade that forgets or refuses to cut be shameful, meaningless, disgraceful. Nay, be it considered a tool at all? What dost the weapon do when the steel hath no guide, that the master hath mingled far? Doth it Stay? Perhaps quiver at possibility, the loss of reason for existence? Or does it go forth into the unknown, guided by merely the wind and the edge? A wandering sword, a phantom blade- A lone Samurai. ------------------------ Credit to Nicklas Gustaffson for the image. Can he use magic, blade and wit to fight them off? Or will he be the one to fall instead? Follow Vreil on his adventures. Witness the dawn of an era. 🧙🧙🧙 This is a story I'd written a few years back, and I figured it's a waste to just let it sit around. Most of it is already written, but I'm going through the chapters and editing the shit out of them. This story is NOT a Lit-RPG, so no blue screens or anything of the sort. It is just fast-paced fiction with slight cultivation elements. Updates are bi-daily (so every 2 days), and chapters are 1500-3000 words. As always, feedback is more than welcome. Why are you still reading the synopsis? You have already decided. Go ahead, give this story a shot. It's worth it.
