(Y/N): Are you sure it's down here?
Ophis: It is. Your impatient.
(Y/N): What do you mean impatient? We've been walking around here for almost an hour!
Sonia: She is right. We have been down here for quite a while.
You sigh and kick one of the crystals on the ground. She brought you two to a cave in the middle of almost nowhere. What's worse is that it smells terrible.
(Y/N): Couldn't you just teleported us there directly?
Ophis: I can't. It's protected by magic.
(Y/N): Aren't you some god or something? Why not just break the spell?
Ophis: The spell is before even my creation. The futa are graced in all fields. From fighting to magecraft. They have mastered everything.
(Y/N): I still know nothing about this.
Sonia: I said I would tell you after all of this.
(Y/N): I know. But this just feels like a whole plot dump. Like, why the hell is this brought up now?
Ophis: Probably by the will of some old god or something we don't know about.
Sonia: In all honesty, I wanted to bring this up to you at some point anyway.
(Y/N): Still feels super random to me. Anyway, if I can beat the ever loving shit out of Satsuki with anything that we find, then I'll happily use it.
Ophis: Good to know your still on board. Anyway, we're here now.
You all stop infront of a big pool of water in the cave. It looks like the end of the line from how far the water stretches.
(Y/N): So, what now? There's nothing here but water.
Ophis: That's only with your eyes. Also, good luck.
She pats you on the back. But that pat soon became a strong shove. You weren't expecting it so you fell into the water. Your about to swim up when you feel something grab your leg and pull you deeper. When you thought that your lungs would be on fire, you find out that it's actually easier to breathe now then normal air. You notice that now that your not struggling, the feeling of being dragged turned to one of being lowered like your on an elevator. Soon your feet touch what you assume is a solid surface. You look around the dark ocean before you feel your eyes adapt. Your mouth opens as the world under the water gets revealed to you.

(Y/N): Senkets......you seeing this?
Senketsu:
(Y/N): Hell if I know dude. But their most definitely like me. Wonder how it's still standing.
Senketsu:
(Y/N): I don't feel like I'm in water at all. It's so weird.......I need to know more. I get the feeling this isn't a normal cave anymore.
You start running, your body not feeling restricted at all. You have to know more. And this place has to be the answer you need to solve your past.
---------------------------------------------------------
Sonia POV
---------------------------------------------------------
Sonia: That was.....quite rough of you.
Ophis: She wouldn't have done it any other way.
Sonia: I could agree to that. Anyway, tell me more about this place. Is it only this water that has the spell?
Ophis: Oh no. It's the entire place. It's illusion magic.
I sit and being to ponder. How many years has it been since this place was first discovered? And how long as the magic been active? I know spells need a energy source to keep active, but this could be more then just a simple spell.
Sonia: Mind telling me more about what she's looking for?
Ophis: Gladly.
---------------------------------------------------------
You've ran around the place for a while now. You get to another part of the area.
(Y/N): I don't know how long I've been going, but there's nothing here.
Senketsu:
(Y/N): Old? More like ancient. This place hasn't seen the surface in a while.
Senketsu:
(Y/N): By the way, can you sense anything?
Senketsu: No. Too much water......I say that but then I felt something.
(Y/N): Must be a joke from God or something. Tell me where.
You start following his directions to a wall. You feel along it before finding a invisible switch. You pulled it as the floor started to open. Something started to rise from the ground. A pedestal with something on it. A weapon.

(Y/N): Is this it?
Senketsu:
(Y/N): Guess we can just grab it and go.
Senketsu:
(Y/N): I doubt traps work after all these years.
You reach out and grab the handle with both hands. You pull the weapon close to you. And as you do.....
---------------------------------------------------------
Sona: So your saying that weapon Is our way to win?
Ophis: I give it a 50/50. The Morningstar is stronger then any normal Sacred Gear or otherwise. My main fear is if Satsuki could control it. If so, then she could be near unstoppable.
Sona: But unstoppable is still stoppable in the eyes of (Y/N).
Ophis: And I hate that your right. But at the same time, I'm glad you are.
As they were finishing, the water of opened as you walked out from some hidden stairs, holding the weapon in hand. Sonia walked up to you. She looked into your eyes as you looked back. It caught her by surprise when you eyes were different. They had a faint blue glow to them. Very faint and unnoticeable when you aren't as close as her.
Sonia: What happened down there?
(Y/N): I found myself. And the truth. Now I want Satsuki's head more then ever.
Sonia: You hating her just confirms that your okay.
(Y/N): Even better then okay. Let's go.

Power Overwhelming
A particular soul has gone through more reincarnations than it can remember. Used to living quiet and simple lives, the soul is told that the next life would likely be the last one and that it would have to go back home, to the universe where it was first born to live it. A universe that also happens to be the gathering place of other reincarnators and some of the most powerful beings in the multiverse. What can a soul do when thrust in the middle of an emerging conflict? Why would this be the last life the soul can live? And who orchestrated all of this?

March 16, 2021 - Hiatus note: I will come back to this story! I'm really struggling with it, though. It's been a number of years and I kind of forgot what the original outline was. I still remember the main path, but not any of the details, because I stupidly didn't write an outline. Progress is being made. I'd like a very decent sized buffer before I start posting again. Don't want to get hopes up only to immediately disappoint! ----- Amy Barnes, an aspiring chemical researcher, finds herself dying from cancer. One of her most desperate prayers is answered in a way that she'd never dreamed possible, and she finds herself living a new life as a dungeon. Warning: Violence, morbidity Cover: Taken from here, courtesy of www.pexels.com by photographer @tookapic. Author's Note: I've read some dungeon core stories on here, and they've tickled my fancy. I've thought up a whole story, start to finish, and thought it'd be a blast to put it into words. Other than the violent and morbid aspects, this story is suitable for children. Aside from the vocabulary, that is. I will avoid the temptation to have any cursing, sexuality, or gore. Excessive gore, I suppose - it is a dungeon story, after all. I’ll do a little research from time to time, but this story will not have a great deal of rigor. I’ve made Amy’s knowledge comparable to my own for that reason. There’s a few things she knows more about than I do, and a few things that she knows less about. Unlike me, she doesn’t have access to Google - it’s a non issue for her to be more knowledgeable than me, on occasion :P This story does not use the same magic system that I’ve used in either Sorcery in Boston or A Summoner’s Confession. This one is mostly intention based, and designed to be easier access for people who are more used to the idea of, “It’s magic, therefore it works” kind of thinking. Do note that Amy is, in most senses of the term, overpowered. This goes along with the usual dungeon core stories. She’s not more powerful than other dungeons per se, but she does have knowledge and intelligence that puts them to shame. I thought about doing this in a LitRPG style, but systems take balance, and I wanted this to be pure fun to write. This story was inspired from a few sources. Despite the title, it wasn’t really inspired by Of Mice and Men, though some of the themes match. Rather, I’ve taken inspiration from a few dungeon core novels on Royal Road Legends for the main idea. Many conventions of dungeon core stories have been perverted from the genre, however. I’ve taken my usual science-loving self to town to play around with the powers, and I can only hope you have half as much fun reading this as I have had writing it.

“The value you have brought to trade is immense, more than a thousand fold what any other traveler to Crucible has ever produced. More than even I produced during my journey.” The old man paused for a moment here, seemingly reluctant to continue. After a few seconds he begins again with weariness creeping into his voice. “As the Messenger of Crucible I have received the value of your life. You shall be awarded a body with potential equaling the value you have brought to this place in accordance with the laws of the higher realms. Now you shall depart for Crucible, but first; I, Jaze, will give you some advice.” The old man, Jaze, he had named himself paused a time. Time enough that Gray began to wonder if he was still present, when he suddenly continued in a low and serious tone, “You will undoubtedly have great potential Gray of Earth, but it is still only potential. What could be is not necessarily what will be. If you step foolishly in my world, if you can not live up to the potential you have bartered for, Crucible will crush you mercilessly and tear away your very soul.” A thought, cheerful and light was heard from Gray before his presence was sent rocketing away like a shooting star. “I’m looking forward to it.”
