《Into the fire》Chapter Fifty Eight

Alexs POV

It's been a month or two since the.. whatever you want to call it. Wanda and I have been good. Really good. We've been working through it together, she's helped me out a lot and I can not thank her enough for sticking with me.

I know I can be a bit of an asshole when I'm like that. So for her to stay with me and make me fix my bullshit, well, I'll always be grateful.

So I've been doing my best to be the best girlfriend possible. She deserves all the happiness in the world. And even if it's more than I can ever give her, I will do my best for as long as she lets me.

In honor of that notion, I am taking Wanda on a little date tonight.

I'm going to show her something that I don't show anybody. Not even Maia or Yelena.

It's a secret passion of mine.

I'm excited to show her.

I just hope she likes it.

I'm nervously waiting at the avengers compound door once I knock.

Hearing it open, my head flies up to see who is letting me in.

It isn't Wanda.

"Well, damn. I know Wanda said you're going all out tonight, but I am still impressed," Nat says nodding her head as she blatantly looks me up and down.

I clear my throat, messing with the rings on my hand.

"Uh, thanks?" Doesn't she have a girlfriend or wife or something?

"Welcome. Come on in. Wanda was still getting ready when I left her."

I stand in the corridor as I internally curse myself for thinking this will be a great idea. What was I thinking? She'll probably laugh at it and want to do something else.

"Are you okay, Alex?"

"Um. I'm fine. Just.. nervous." I confess.

Nat's gaze softens, "first of all, that's adorable. You've been together for months now*, right? It's cute. Secondly, you have nothing to worry about. The way Wanda gushes about you constantly, she's head over heals for you. Trust me on that." She says smiling, really selling it.

Not that I think she's faking it. I do believe her. I do trust her, oddly enough.

"Thanks. I really love her. I know she loves me. But.. I am taking her somewhere I don't take people. It's kind of a secret of mine." She raises her eyebrows at this. I quickly try to make it sound less crazy, "it's just.. I'm waiting for it to happen." Why did I say that?

She looks confused as well as concerned, "what do you mean?"

"I.." shouldn't have said that. Now it's kind of too late. I let my shoulders sag as I give in, "I guess I'm just waiting for the shoe to drop, ya know? Like.. I'm going to do something to mess this up. Something will go wrong. She'll leave me for.. whatever reason." I mumble most of that, hoping she doesn't really hear it or at least gives up.

"Alex.."

"It's fine. I'm fine. I shouldn't have said anything," I quickly realize I just said all of this to one of Wandas best friends.

You don't have to do that," she says.

I just tilt my head unsure.

"Don't take it back. Be open, be honest. Talk to her, she'll understand. She wants to know. She wants to stay with you. I don't think she wants to leave you. Ever."

Huh. The Black Widow really is wise in all of this. Wanda was right, of course.

I'm a little caught off guard. So before I can say anything (especially about the whole 'never wants to leave you' thing), I hear footsteps walking towards us.

As I turn my jaw drops to the floor. Literally. Along with the rest of my body. I have no option but to bow down to my goddess. My girlfriend.

And her laugh makes the butterflies in my stomach take off doing summersaults.

"What are you doing?"

I peek up at her from the ground, "I.. couldn't do anything else. My immediate response was to bow. You.. you are gorgeous. Those clothes are lucky. I am lucky. I can not believe you're my girlfriend." I gain enough confidence as I talk to stand up at last.

She laughs again. The butterflies just about burst from my mouth trying to flee from my body entirely.

"You are so damn adorable, she grabs my jacket and pulls me in for a deep kiss that makes me want to rip her dress to shreds and forget leaving this place.

I hear someone clear their throat and realize Nat is still here. Eh. Like she hasn't done something similar with Spencer.

We do pull apart, however, much to my remorse.

"Sorry, Nat. Couldn't help myself. Wanda winks at me. And my knees are spaghetti.

This will be a long night.

In the best way possible.

"It's fine. I'll leave you two. Have fun," Nat directs a wink at Wanda as she walks away. Wanda returns it. I narrow my eyes at Nat, not necessarily liking the transaction between them.

I know. She has Spencer. I'm with Wanda. It's fine, I know.

Wanda turns back to me. "So, where are we going?" She asks excitedly.

And I'm suddenly nervous again. "That is still a surprise, actually. If that's okay?"

"Of course. I can wait. I'm just excited."

Her happiness calms me. Anytime she's happy, I am instantly happy.

Not that my happiness totally depends on her, but it's definitely exponentially more with her.

We walk out to my car, me opening the door for her before getting in myself. We're riding down the road jamming out to music as we intermittently talked about random shit.

Soon enough we were there.

So are my nerves.

"Hey, are you okay, Alex?" She grabs my hand, which reminds me to breath.

"Yeah. Yeah, I just.. really hope you like this. It's not everyone's thing," I explain.

"If you love it, I will," she smiles melting my heart.

Literally how do I function around her? She must have some magic spell.

Wait.. actually.. ?

I shake the thought quickly getting out of the door and opening Wandas for her before she can do it herself.

"Thanks, Blue," she whispers followed by a kiss my cheek.

Oof. Is my face red? It feels red.

"So.. what is this place, exactly?"

"Well.. confession time."

She's curious.

"Um.. I know you've seen me sing. But I actually prefer to.. um. Dance," I whisper the last part, willing her to not hear it.

No such luck. "Really?" She squeals.

"Uh, yeah. I've actually taken some classes. It's a great way to express myself, I guess. Especially when words don't seem like enough or I don't know how to say anything. It lets me put all of that energy somewhere. It fells good to just let the music take you.." I stop my ramble. I feel like I'm not even making sense anymore.

"Awe, how are you so amazing? You dance? There is nothing to feel ashamed about. I think it's awesome you have an outlet. And I'm grateful that you're showing me. Now I can not wait to see your moves," she wiggles her eyebrows.

Stop my smile, I dare you.

You can't.

We step into the room and I'm greeted by the salsa music I absolutely love, my limbs starting to move on their own already.

"Okay I love this already," Wanda says looking around.

"Oh, just wait. It gets so much better. Have you ever salsa danced before?" I ask, the excitement taking over my entire being. I'm practically vibrating. At this point, I don't care.

"No. But I have a feeling you're about to teach me."

"As long as you'll let me," I offer my hand.

She takes it, letting me pull her to the dance floor.

I was leading her around for hours, smiling at each other like two teenage kids who caught the other looking across the gym room.

Can I be cheesy for a moment?

I'm going to be anyway.

Clouds: we were floating on them.

She was the only person I saw.

We were the only two in the room.

Even as we finally dragged ourselves from the dance floor and over to a table to eat, the delirium never left.

The food was great; the company better.

What can I say, I'm a cheeseball. But I'm her cheeseball.

"Okay, this place is incredible! I can totally see why you would come here all the time. Not only is the food delicious, the dance floor is packed and the energy is enough to charge the city," Wanda gushes.

"I am so glad you like this place. It had been a place I liked to escape to a lot. Like I said, it can be a great distraction. I'm glad I could bring you here."

"I'm glad you did. And watching as you danced.. mm. I could get use to the sight," she bites her lip. Damn it.

"Well if you want to see me dance, all you have to do is ask, princess," I breathe.

Her eyes betray her, glancing down to my lips. "It better be a private showing."

"That's the only way I picture it."

"My place?"

"Thought you'd never ask."
