《Into the fire》Chapter Fifty One

Alexs POV

Wanda and I made quick work at the grocery store as she thankfully knew exactly what she needed and where to get it. All I had to do is throw the stuff into the cart when instructed.

So we found ourselves back at my place to prepare the dishes in no time at all.

And I will also say that Wanda knows her way around the kitchen and it is insanely sexy. I'm suppose to be helping her slice.. something, but in reality I'm watching her mix the dough.

I may be drifting off a bit here, a little bit jealous of the dough. She really knows what she's doing with her hands.

Wanda clears her throat and I slowly drag my eyes from her hands up to her lips and then finally to her eyes. Her normal light green eyes have gone dark.

I smirk, "can I help you, princess?"

Her chest starts to rise and fall at a quicker pace; she doesn't answer right away.

I slowly stand up, dragging a hand across the counter as I saunter over to her. I trace my fingers up her arm before pushing aside her hair and pressing my lips along her neck, finding her sweet spot quickly.

"Wha.. what are you.. doing.." she lets a moan slip and I smile as I continue to attack her neck.

"I think you know exactly what I'm doing.."

"Um.. the food.."

"Can wait.."

It's another moment before I can tell she's decided. She pushes the food away, turning around to me abruptly to connect our lips intensely.

I'm already tugging away at her shirt, "you sure, princess?"

She wraps her arms around my neck pulling me closer to whisper against my lips, "more than anything."

With those words I grab her by the legs to carry her off to my room.

With a swift kick I close the bedroom door, forgetting the food that needed to be prepared.

I was too hungry to wait.

——————

We still managed to make the dishes and be at the park on time despite our little.. delay.

Everyone was more than excited to see that Wanda joined me. Let's be real, if she didn't I probably wouldn't have come to this thing.

Well, until they dragged me here themselves, that is. Max threatened me a little bit.

Not that it matters, we're all here. The food is sitting out on the tables ready for us to dig into it after we play a few rounds of volleyball.

Playing volleyball with a food baby is not pretty. Trust me. (Do you know how you birth a food baby? Yeah. Just imagine.)

Now the only thing left to do is choose the teams.

———————————————————————————

Wandas POV

I'm sitting back in a chair Alex brought for me, sunglasses on as I wait for the team to get started.

Alex is warming up with Max while they wait and I'm watching her every move. Both loving the bikini she's wearing and hating it.

Yes, she's wearing a bikini. Apparently it's too hot to be in anymore clothes while playing and she wants to work on her tan. Not that she really needs to; she's perfect.

And not that I necessarily wanted to have her body on display for the whole team, but again, at least I get to see her. And everyone knows she's mine.

They better.

Andrew claps his hands to get our attention. "Okay, so I would like to suggest that the two truck captains choose the teams," he wiggles his eye brows as he speaks and a few people cheer in agreement.

I'm a little confused. I know Cameron as their captain. I didn't think they had two? I guess I'll find out. I'm not really here to play anyway, I'm here to watch Alex play volleyball in a bikini and have some cocktails.

Cam walks over to the court standing in wait.

"Um, yeah. You, uh. You can't call me a captain.." Alex speaks up walking over from where she was on the court.

I can see her furrowed brows from here.

It's adorable.

I know I talked a lot about her blue eyes before, and they're amazing, they are. And they are truly a window to her emotions.

But her eyebrows.. well, besides the fact that they're perfectly shaped without having to try (I know, I asked her), they give away just as much as her eyes do.

I didn't know someone could use their eyebrows to show that much in expression. And like I said, it's adorable. So adorable I find myself looking at them for her reactions.

Oh right. What were they talking about? Captains?

"Yet! We can't call you a captain yet!" Max came running over, jumping on Alex's back.

I am not jealous. They're friends. Close friends, but still just friends.

Wait. I'm getting distracted here.

I bring my eyes to Alex's, making myself focus on her eyes as I give her a confused look.

I can see the slight panic and worry in them as they dart from me to Max, to Andrew and then back to me again.

Okay.. what is she hiding?

I raise an eyebrow knowing she'll notice.

She clears her throat keeping her eyes on mine now, "yeah, well.. um. I'm not. Yet. So I don't think I should.."

I think she's trying to read my reaction. I'm trying to keep it calm while also tearing into her thoughts.

Not literally. I agreed not to do that. It was one of the first things we talked about when we started seeing each other. It's a trust thing. We needed to trust each other.

But what is she hiding now?

I do my head tilt, knowing it'll bring her to her knees..

"Oh, please. You have this in the bag! There's no way you won't pass that exam." Andrew bellows, walking over and giving Alex a nuggy.

She glared at him with all the fire she possess. Which is a lot.

I think it's partly because he almost ruined her braids and also because she wants him to shut his trap.

Assuming she says something to that affect as he quickly glances in my direction and then walks away.

But I want him to keep talking.

"Oh, no, Andrew. Where are you going? Do continue," I persuade him.

He's nervous. "Oh, um, I just meant.."

Alex quickly steps forward releasing Max to the ground and sitting besides me. I'm sat with my arms crossed. Not willing to budge until I know what's going on.

As she looks down playing with her rings, she begins to explain, "so, um.. I may be taking the test to become a captain.." she speaks so quietly.

I'm immediately put off the offensive.

I reach out to grab her hand making her look up to me with worry.

"Alex, that's amazing! I'm so proud of you! You would make an incredible captain. But, why didn't you tell me?" I am sincerely proud of her. But I don't get it.

She lets out a long breath, dragging her free hand down her face before talking, "I just.. I didn't know if I'd pass. I didn't want to say anything in case I didn't. And I know I should have told you, I'm sorry. I.. I guess I'm still a little guarded and didn't realize it." She admits.

I squeezed her hand, "hey, I know you've been through some shitty stuff, so I know it isn't all easy. But I'm here for you. For everything. I want to be apart of your life. I want to support you and love you.."

Oop.

I said it.

She breaks into a shit eating grin, "love me?"

"Um.. I.." I don't have much of a rebuttal because it's true. I just wasn't going to tell her yet.

She kisses me. Hard.

Whispering against my lips, "I love you too."

I scrunch my nose, "I didn't technically say it." Can't help but tease her.

She looks down to my lips before bringing them together again, this time with more hunger than before, sending a shockwave through my body.

"Yeah. I love you," I breath out.

She chuckles, "love you." Then she kisses my forehead and walks away.

Max clears her throat, "right. So teams. Go ahead captains."

Alex winks at me before picking her person.

Soon enough they had their teams and they were ready to play.

Mark, Travis' husband (he's on truck with Alex), hands be a drink, "here, you'll want this."

"Are they that had?" I ask laughing.

"No. They're that good. They can be.. a little competitive," he chuckles taking the seat next to me.

"You know, I'm not that surprised. At the last bonfire they seemed to get into it easily," I say watching as Alex jump serves the ball.

"Just wait. You haven't seen anything yet. It's all fun and games but sometimes I think they forget that," he says watching his husband.

"I can't wait," I say in honesty.

Seeing Alex get fired up is such a turn on. She gets so passionate about things, igniting a fire within her that can be hard to put out. Not that I want to.

That passion is part of why I love her.

And yeah, I smile a little bigger as I think that.

And I let the happiness over take me; like slipping into the ocean in July, the cold waking you up, giving you new life.

This feeling fuels me throughout the rest of the evening.

And Mark wasn't kidding. I had to step in on more than a few occasions to stop them from truly getting into it.

Alex dominated the court. Seeing her dive for the ball or jump up to spike it.. mm. I can't tell you what it's doing to me.

Of course each team won a game so they had to do a tie breaker where Alex's team ultimately won.

You could almost forget how much they yelled at each other by the end, everyone was a good sport laughing about the mistakes and congratulating each other on the saves.

Alex walked towards me grabbing a cold water bottle on her way, drinking half before dumping the rest on her head.

I swallowed hard as I watched it race down between her breast, only adding to the glistening sweat covering her body.

I crossed my legs and silently begged for her to put on some more clothes or something.

Not that I wanted that. I wanted the opposite. But that can't currently happen.

"Hey, sunshine. Sorry that took so long. Totally thought we would demolish them in the first two games!" She says the last part louder, kisses me on the forehead, then takes a seat next to me.

"No need to apologize. I thoroughly enjoyed that. Especially you in that swimsuit. But you didn't tell me you were such a badass volleyball player," I nudge her shoulder getting her face to glow a red brighter than it already was.

"Um.."

"Oh she didn't tell you? Alex here is a superstar. Almost went to the Olympics," Andrew says a little smug but also a little proud as he bit into some chicken.

I turn to her, "no. She failed to mention that."

"I didn't think it was a big deal.." she mumbles.

"You almost went to the OLYMPICS, Alex. Kind of a big deal," Andrew again.

She rolls her eyes, "it was a long time ago. Now I just enjoy playing with my team.

"Yeah, yeah. You just like to show us up."

"If I wanted to do that, we wouldn't have played a third game," she sticks out her tongue.

They start to go back and forth on who was playing better before Alex quietly tells me she'll get some food for us.

I forgot about the food. And the game.

She almost went to the Olympics? I'm surprised that wasn't mentioned when they were looking into her background. Unless they didn't think it was important? I don't see how they could have.

I have to push all of that aside as she comes back with plates piled high with food, grabbing us a drink shortly after.

Maybe Yelena knew and just didn't share it, it wasn't my mission after all.

And I let that be my last thought on the topic.
