《Into the fire》Chapter Twenty One

Wandas POV

It's the day we're suppose to go on the triple date.

Nat and I are trying to get ready and make sure we have everything for the boat.

We have plenty of drinks and food figuring we could do a little picnic once we find a beach. Towels, hats, sunglasses, extra pair of clothes.

We're prepared.

Well, as prepared as we can be. And by 'we' I mean me.

I am not ready for this.

Seeing Alex in a bikini? Swimming in the ocean with her and stopping myself from going right up to her and..

Ugh. Yeah, this is going to be torture.

But I'll have Lexi there.

Maybe I'll make her a little jealous?

Why am I even thinking that?

I shake my head, willing those thoughts to disappear.

I'll be hanging out with my friends and enjoying a wonderful day on a boat and the beach. I should not be focused on anything else.

Currently trying to put my focus into packing my bag. I already have a swimsuit on, I just need an extra change of clothes.

And no.. I am definitely not wearing the bikini that I think I look the best in for Alex.

Nope.

It's for Lexi.

I take a deep breath, done with my bag and needing to go get Nat.

I knock on her bedroom door and enter when she says I can.

"Hey Nat. Are you ready?"

"Yeah. Just about." Then she walks out of her bathroom.

"Damn, Nat. Spencer is one lucky girl," I tease her as she is only in her bikini.

I see the blush take over her face, she clears her throat. "Thanks.. I'm hoping she has similar thoughts when she sees me."

"If she doesn't, then she is insane. But I have a feeling she'll barely be able to speak," I encourage her.

She has started to put on some clothes to cover up until we get to the boat, much like myself.

"She better. If she wants to take it off later," Nat smirks

I can't help but throw my head back in laughter. "Nat!"

She shrugs, "it's true!"

We're both laughing for a couple minutes before we calm down.

"I guess I'm ready, then," Nat says looking around her room. "The food and drinks are already down by the door. Sometimes I really wish Spencer was here to help move stuff around," she adds.

"I'm sure she would love to help. And I'm sure she'd love to be here more with you, too. Is she staying for a few days?"

"Yeah, I think so. I hope so. I'm really considering asking her to move in with me.." Nat says quietly.

My eyes widen, "Nat, that's awesome! It would be so cool to have her here with us all, too!"

"Yeah, well.. its a little more complicated than that. But hopefully soon. Let's go." Just as quickly as she brought it up, she shuts it down.

I'll have to ask her about it later.

For now, we have a boat trip to take.

——————

We are taking the jet to one of Tony's houses where he has a boat he said we could use.

Spencer met us at the compound, and yes she did help pack the bags into the jet. She even took mine and Nats personal bags. She really is a keeper.

She even offered to just take us to Tony's place herself, but we didn't want to make her do all of that. It was a fun trip for her, too.

We then had Happy swing by to pick up Lexi. After that we could head straight for the jet as Lena said she would meet us there.

Once Spencer grabbed Lexis bags (she insisted) for her and had them packed away, all we had to do was wait for Yelena.

And wait.

And wait.

"You told Yelena 10 o'clock, right?" I ask Nat, getting bored of sitting in this jet and wishing we were already at the beach. Not that Lexi, Nat and Spencer aren't fun just... alcohol and tanning.

"I did. She said she would be here. I'll call her," she pulls out her phone and assumably dials Yelenas number.

"Hey! Lena. Where are you? It's.. 10:42. We've been waiting for awhile."

The other side of the conversation is too muted for me to hear, so I'll just have to wait for Nat to explain.

"Oh. Okay. We'll see you soon, then." And she hangs up.

Once she puts her phone away she looks up at all of our expectant faces, "she says she's here and walking towards the jet now."

I let out an exaggerated breath.

Lexi giggles and then snuggles closer to me.

I smile knowing Spencer is about to see this; me happy and with someone else.

(Hah. Yeah. I laughed, too. Internally of course.)

And sure enough moments later Yelena comes walking into view and up the entrance with..

No one?

"Um.. where's Alex?" Nat asks Yelena.

Yelena does not look particularly.. happy.

"She had to cancel last minute. Had to work a shift for someone," she grumbles.

Spencer had gotten up and grabbed her bag, wrapping her in a hug and saying something inaudible to her, but it gets her to smile.

"Well, I'm sorry we don't get to meet her. I've been dying to know who has all of my best friends attention," Spencer jokes as she nudges Yelena with her shoulder.

"She doesn't take all of my time.." Yelena tries, but she's smiling.

"Yeah, well, tell her your best friend is seriously going to need more than just a few stories you tell me. I need to see the real person, not just the picture you have on your phone of her kissing you," Spencer continues to tease Lena.

"You will. She.. wants to meet all of you. It's just been.. bad timing," she talks carefully.

Something seem off to you, too?

"Alright. Next time, I guess. I do feel as your sister she should be trying to impress me.." Nat joins Spencer in the teasing.

"She will, don't worry. Her job is just important to her. She is saving lives too, ya know," Lena gives them some attitude back.

"Yes, yes. You're dating a hot firefighter. I'm sure she looks great in her suit and all but.." Spencer starts then turns to Nat, "she isn't THE black widow," and she's nibbling on her ear.

Well, alright then.

"Okay! So are we ready to go, then?" Yelena speaks up.

We all agree we're ready for take off, Nat getting the jet up in the air before setting it on autopilot so we could all start talking and maybe drinking.

"You so were! You were trying to out drink me!" Yelena shouts playfully at Spencer.

Both of them are a little .. drunk.

"Nooo! No way. You were trying to keep up with me! That's why you went and ordered three more shots without me!" Spencer yells back.

"No way that was just to stay ahead of you. Besides, what do you even remember! You were soo far gone!" She's laughing. Spencer's laughing. We're all laughing.

Spencer shakes her head, "what do you remember from that night? You were so gone I had to carry you to your room!"

"Please, in your dreams. I can handle my liquor just fine," Yelena defends herself.

"Yeah sure. Maybe most nights. Definitely not that night," she calls her out.

"Whatever. We can prove it right here and now.."

"Oh, no you won't. Spencer is plenty gone as it is," Nat stops them. She's laughing. But I think she has certain.. plans for Spencer tonight.

Spencer has a sad face that Nat is trying to ignore, "but.. love.. you know I can drink more then her! It won't take too many more drinks and she'll be on her ass!" Spencer tries. She really does.

Nat gives her a look that makes Spencer audibly gulp.

"Uh, love. I mean, you love drunk me," she gives her a big smile.

"Sure I do. I love all of you. But, not tonight," Nat is firm.

Spencer turns back to Yelena, "this isn't over! I'll take you on any time any where! Except for tonight."

"Hah. Yeah, if you can get your girlfriend to give you enough leash!"

Nat goes to respond but Spencer beats her to it, "hey. I'm my own person and can do what I want. I just happen to want to do what Nat wants me to do."

"Such a bottom," Yelena smirks like she knows what she just started.

Then Spencer gets a wicked smirk, "oh, I think you know that's not true." She sits back, a little proud of herself.

Yelena doesn't say anything, just narrows her eyes. After taking a moment, "I don't like where this conversation went. Are we almost there?"

"Hey, you want to mess with the cow, you'll get the udders!" Spencer says, making us all laugh.

It may not seem like it, but she would say that whether she was drunk or sober.

Nat places a hand on Spencers thigh, effectively reigning her in.

"Shouldn't be much longer. Maybe ten more minutes," she informs us.

"Perfect. I can not wait to be on a beach," Yelena says throwing her head back.
