《Into the fire》Chapter Eleven

Wandas POV
"Nat?"
"Yeah?"
"I'm ready when you are," I call into her room.
"Okay, I'm just about done. Just finishing my hair now. You can wait in here if you want."
"Okay," I accept her offer and walk in her room sitting on her bed.
I take a moment to look around her room while I wait. I notice a picture next to her bed which I believe is of Nat when she was younger with someone I don't really know. I pick it up so I can inspect it further. They're both smiling with their arm wrapped around the other. The blonde one almost looks familiar..
It's at that point when Nat walks out of her bathroom.
"What're you doing?" There's a weird tone to her voice.
"Uh, nothing. Just looking at this picture. This is you when you were younger?"
"Yes," she's short.
I look over to her, curious as to why she's acting like this. And I can almost see her muscles coiling, wanting to take the picture from my hands.
I take the hint and place the photo back down on her side table.
But, I still want to know where I would know her from.
"If it's of you when you were younger, then who is the other girl with you?" I press.
Her jaw clenched and unclenches before she responds, "it's.. my sister. Yelena."
Yelena? That name sounds familiar.. "where have I.."
"One of Tony's parties a few weeks ago. She was there. You two met."
"Oh." Well that explains it then. "Now that you mention it, I do remember that party. Though I believe I was fairly drunk.."
She smiles, "yes. You were. So was Yelena. You were quite the pair that night."
As she's bringing it up, the memories come flashing back of us dancing around like fools and singing our hearts out. I place my head in my hands.
"I can't believe I got that drunk! Ah! That was horrible. And the hang over the next day! You guys didn't drop that for a few days!"
"Of course we didn't. It's rare that you let yourself get that drunk. It was very entertaining. Yelena had a blast. She's actually mentioned stopping by the compound again."
"Yeah, she should. It would be a lot of fun!"
"Oh if you're saying you'll get drunk again, I will definitely invite her," Nat laughs.

"Oh, there's no way I'm getting that drunk again in my life. But I wouldn't mind having a few and hanging out."
"Perfect. I'll let Yelena know, she'll be happy to hear it. Sad, but that might actually get her to visit here again instead of just visiting her sister," Nat rolls her eyes, but I don't think she means it.
"Great. Just let me know when she can come over and I'll make sure I'm free!" I give another smile.
"I will. But for now, we should probably get going so we can pick up our girls and start this double date."
"I suppose you're right. Don't want to keep them waiting forever."
——————
We made it to top golf once we had Happy pick up Spencer and Lexi before dropping us all off here.
It didn't take long to get to our area as we had reserved a space ahead of time.
We already had a few drinks in us as we played and waited for more food.
"Okay, why is Spencer so good at this game? I thought you were an investor?" I ask her as she comes back from making yet another ball hit the green zone. "I think she's cheating," I joke.
She sits back down across the table from me, taking a swig from her drink before responding with a smile, "sounds like someone is a sore loser."
I roll my eyes playfully, "I am not. I just don't get how this is so easy for you."
She chuckles, "who said it's easy? Maybe I'm just good at golf?"
"Are you?"
"Seems like it, doesn't it?"
We all laugh at the banter as Nat comes back from playing her turn as well.
She also takes a drink from her beer, but leans down to kiss Spencer afterwards.
I can't help it, "get a room!"
They break a part, Spencer responds, "oh, we will." Then she sends a wink my way.
That's when an arm finds its way across my shoulders and Lexis face is in front of my own, also asking to be kissed.
I give in to the request, smiling as we pull apart.
"You know, I could always give you pointers if you're interested? I'm always willing to help those in need," she smirks as her tone suggest she's messing with me.
"Oh, aren't you just so giving?"
"I am!" She places a hand on her chest, "it's hard to watch you suffer."

"Hey! My game hasn't been that bad!"
"Wands, you're total score for the game is only 50. And we each only have one more shot to take," Nat points out.
"Okay, so I need more practice! I didn't know I was playing with a bunch of professionals!" I laugh.
"You're doing great, babe. You'll only get better from here," Lexi tells me.
Before I can thank her, Spencer speaks up again, "well, at least we know she isn't cheating by using her powers."
At this, I throw some fries at her.
"Hey!"
"What? At least I didn't use my powers," I stick my tongue out.
"Bet you didn't think we'd be babysitting today, did you Lexi?" Nat asks her.
"No. But I'm also not entirely surprised," they both laugh at us.
"Come on babe, let's go take our turns. Then we can start another game and order more drinks," Lexi suggests as she starts to pull me away.
I finish off my drink before following her, "don't have to ask me twice!"
We finished off that game, I lost to no ones surprise, but we decided to eat before we started the next game.
"I don't know if I'm just really hungry or if this is just amazing, but I feel like I could eat a whole other plateful," Spencer says as she leans back in her chair, her plate empty of food.
"How did you even eat that much?" Lexi asks.
"It's her special power," Nat answers for her.
Spencer smiles. "Hell yeah it is," her eyes are closed and she doesn't open them as she responds.
That is, until Nat kisses her again.
They're very affectionate with each other. It's cute.
"You're also always hungry, bub," Nat says, pushing some hair out of her face.
"You.. are not wrong," she breaks into a bigger grin.
It's really great seeing Nat this happy. You can tell how much they care about each other. If not by their words, then certainly by their actions.
Which brings me to my own.. relationship type thing with Lexi.
I turn around to her and kiss her as well.
"What was that for?" She's smiling.
"Because I can. And I wanted to."
"Mm. Well, feel free to do that again, anytime you want."
"Oh I will," so I did.
Soon enough we were back up to playing the next round of golf.
At this point we had all had our fair share of drinks and I can definitely say that I'm glad we have Happy driving us all home. Again. He's a real gem.
But it's super fun.
Spencer really did give me some helpful pointers and I ended up getting 105 as my next score.
It's not Spencers 400 or Nats 300, or even Alexis 235.. okay I'm making mine sound really bad. But it's a hell of a lot better than the 65 I had.
Happy brought us all to our respectable places afterwards.
We all had a blast and agreed we had to have another double date very soon, whether we did top golf or something entirely different, we didn't care.
"I'm glad I was finally able to see you and Lexi together, Wanda. You two are cute."
I know my face goes a little red, "uh.. thanks, Nat. It's good to see you so happy with Spencer. She lives up to all of the hype. Hopefully she really does want to hang out again."
"Oh, she does. She was glad you are an actual real person and that I finally let you two meet. She likes you."
"When did you get a chance to talk about that?"
"When you and Lexi were up there taking your turns. You were too busy checking Lexi out to notice what we were saying."
And my cheeks are red again. "Oh.. well.."
"There's nothing wrong with that, Wanda. I'm glad you're happy."
"Thanks. We'll have to make sure we do it again soon. But I'm super tired. And a little more drunk than I thought. So I'm going to grab some water and go to bed."
Nat brings her hand up to her head, "yeah, that actually doesn't sound like a bad idea at all. I think I will too."
We both parted ways for the night, saying we'd see each other the next day.
It wasn't long before I found myself in my room in my bed thinking about the day.
I'm glad Nat and I both have someone we can go out with and that makes us happy.
Because Lexi really does make me happy. And spending time with her with some of my friends today only proved that further.
I guess she's getting me to open up after all.

Even if that means breaking his long exile, turning to the local shifter community for help, and dealing with a bureaucratic department of mages. And don't even get him started on getting licked by a damn spirit bear. Now he just needs to figure out what will kill him first: his enemies, his past, or his own attempts at using magic?
