《Soulbond [Rick Sanchez Fanfiction]》18. Unbroken

"Grandpa Rick!" Summer calls as we're at her house. Grandpa? We enter through the garage for some reason, is he usually here? How come I've never met him?
"Where the fuck is he now?" She curses and stomps into the house, continuing to call for him. I stay in the garage, it feels odd... nice for some reason and its just a garage? Messy and dirty but it has this scent to it? Not gas, oil, dust or iron like it usually smells, its something... sweet... It feels familiar and I dont think I've ever really been in here before so why?
Why do I have to meet this... Rick? And why is Summer so worried? Who is he? And why me? Its with a deep sigh of confusion that I go after Summer.
"I-if your looking for Rick he's not here" A voice speaks and I turn my head to the side and spot Morty on the sofa in the living room. Shouldnt he be at school?
"He's not here?"
"He left" He explains, his gaze never leaving the tv which shows some odd show with a man that has... ants in his eyes?
"Do you know where he is?" I ask and as I do Summer comes down the stairs, looking worse than before. Stressed and pissed and it hits me how much she must actually care for this... Rick.
"Do you?!" She almost screams at Morty making him turn his head to give her a stare.
"Probably at the Plim Plom Tavern" He shrugs "Why is she here anyway?" He nods towards me, Summer looks like someone slapped her in the face and im also surprised over his behavior, he seem so... unbothered? Does he not care as much as Summer do?
"You gotta get us there" She demands. Mortys brow lower.
"You know im not allowed to use his portal gun, and who cares? He doesnt care about anyone" He argues back, making Summer take a threatening step forward.
"Now Morty!"
Morty opens his mouth but I interrupt before he can speak.
"Morty, I dont think Rick is feeling good, I dont know who he is but I've never seen Summer this upset before..." Summer looks back at me, her anger faltering a bit "So please, help us" I plead, making my lips into a desperate line. Morty looks at me, then back at Summer, a couple of seconds with silence follows before he nods in defeat.
"FINE, but you owe me now" He says and removes himself from the sofa to head towards the garage we just came from.
"Are we taking the car?" I ask as I follow them both only to halt my steps as Summer looks back at me with narrowed eyes.
"Seriously? I cant believe im doing this for him..." She mumbles. I watch as Morty picks up a strange object with a glowing green pipe on the top. He aims it at the wall and I stagger backwards as a green circle appears. I would've mistaken it for grafitti if it wasnt moving, like its alive.

"What is that?" I question. Morty and Summer looks at each other, sharing a silent thought.
"Lets just go" Morty grunts, Summer reach forward to grab my hand and I allow her to lead me towards the glowing green thing that must be a portal? Because as soon as we've stepped through we're in a new spot. My eyes widen at the sight. The sky is different, as is the ground, the plants, the building in front of us is round to its shape with an alien-looking sigh on top that I cant read, im not sure if that is even text or just random symbols? For what? What do they mean?
"Lets go inside"
"I-I'll wait outside" Morty stutters and shies back, suddenly nervous. I would rather stay here too if it wasnt for Summers grip on me. She tugs me towards the building and I havent even gathered myself yet.
Is this another planet?
The door opens and an odd scent of alcohol and something sweet hits me instantly. It smells good which baffles me because im not a big fan of alcohol, besides, I work in a bar and I've never felt this before, not even our strawberry drinks smells this nice?
"What... is this place?" I ask Summer but my gaze leaves her and lands on a tall, lanky man, leaned over the bar top in the middle of the open room. Tables and chairs are scattered around and odd figures and creatures surround us, all focused on their company and drinks, they dont bat us an eye. I should be afraid, but I cant turn my head away. His hair is spiky, light blue and he wears a blue top. His back straightens as we get closer as if he felt our presence and as he turn around I stop, my hand slide out of Summers and she coninues on her own. His eyes widen as he see's me, then his unibrow lower and a glare is shot towards Summer. Is that Rick? The grandpa?
My body feels like its ignited and the deep longing for something feels filled, the constant, distant pain in my chest seem to subside as I look at him.
"What the fuck" He looks between me and Summer then open his mouth about to say something else but gets interrupted.
"You forgot to erase my mind Rick" Her voice drips of hatred but then turns fragile as her walls of defence crumble "Im not surprised, you always forget about me..." Her movements are upset, her voice weak and on the verge of tears and it makes me walk up to put a comforting hand on her shoulder, ignoring the pull towards Rick.
"Y-you couldnt just bleugh stay away c-could you?" He grunts and looks back at me, a pained expression on his face, his eyes filled with sorrow as he shakes his head and brush his blue hair back with his fingers. I take another step towards him and his posture changes, like he's contemplating if he should hug me. Its odd because I feel the same way.

"What do you mean?" I manage to speak and he sighs deeply.
"You should leave" He wave dismissively with his hand and turn back around to take another sip of his drink, its clear, vodka maybe if they happen to have that here?
"I came all this way to help you're ass! You look like shit" Summer protests.
"Whats in nit for you?" He grunts, downing the entire drink and they swaying on his seat. How much has he been drinking?
"Maybe I just care? Why I dont know, I cant believe you did this to your own soulmate..." I look to Summer and she looks back at me and nod after rolling her eyes.
Rick is my...
"Fuck off!" Rick growls and throws an arm out towards Summer, the action causes him to loose balance and falls off the chair and down on the floor with a thud. It feels oddly familiar...
"Lets go, you gotta solve this shit now before you kill yourself"
"I was never bleugh meant to have a soulmate!" He protests as Summer tries to lift him from the floor. I try to help but as soon as I touch him a spark pass through our limbs, causing me to shiver. I try to push it aside and grip his other arm and with Summers help manage to lift him from the floor. His head lolls to my side.
"That feels fucking incredible" He mumble and my face burns red instantly.
We manage to get him out where Morty still waits. He shoots a new portal and we struggle through, Rick is heavier than he look. We arrive at someones room, presumably Rick's? The entire room smells of him and I feel lightheaded. We drop him off on the bed and he's passed out cold.
"You have to deal with this, im fucking done, cant believe I do this for him" Summer let out an annoyed throaty sound and prepares to leave the room with Morty, Morty whom seem to be confused over the current situation, of course he is, I am too.
"Wait what? What do you expect me to do? I dont even know him?" I protest.
"You do, you'll figure it out." They leave me alone and I sigh. What is this? What am I supposed to do about this? Rick is my soulmate? How come I dont know about him but Summer did? Erasing memories? I back up against the wall and flop down on the floor opposite to the bed. He's snoring, lying on his back with his arm and leg hanging off towards he floor. His limbs long. Is he really my soulmate? What happened? Did he erase my memory so I would forget about him? But why? Because he's old? I would find it strange if the universe paired me with this peculiar individual, we seem so mismatched...?
I bury my face in my hands and sigh deeply. What am I supposed to do? Remember something that has been removed? How can a person even remove memories? And does it have anything to do with the bruises I had? Did he hurt me? No... Soulmates cannot and would never hurt each other... Then did I get attacked? Maybe the bruises was from someone else? I hope Rick can give me the answers because I feel like im going insane right now... I feel as if I was pulled from everything I know to this chaos. I have a soulmate? And he erased my mind because of god knows why and now im stuck here in an attempt to solve it.
It takes him a long time to wake up, it feels like two or three hours has passed when he finally stirrs awake.
"Fuuuck" He rubs his tempels, his eyes remain closed until he suddenly seem to become aware that he's not alone and snaps his head towards me.
"Well shit..." He roll his eyes. He sound so displeased...
"Rick..." I begin, unsure of what else to say, his name feels so fragile on my tongue now that he's in front of me.
"Y/N..." He grunts. Hearing my name fall from his lips makes my heart speed up and I wipe my sweaty hands on my legs.
"I..." I attempt to start a conversation "I dont know what to say"
"Then dont speak" He snarls back "You shouldnt be here, why did you come?"
"Because Summer was worried about you, and I care about her so..."
"Yeah yeah..." He shakes his head a little.
"We have to solve this." Maybe he disliked being bonded with me and tried to get rid of it? The thought makes my insides ache with pain.
"There's nothing to solve, go home" He let himself fall back on the bed again and face the ceiling.
"I can go home" I pull myself up to a standing "But before I leave I just want to know why..."
"Because you weren't safe" He explains in a surprisingly soft voice.
"So you did it to protect me? Even if it made you miserable?" He turn his head to look at me and as our eyes meet im struck with the sudden need to touch him. He throws his legs over the edge and face me.
"Its nothing im not used to" He admits and I see him break in front of me. I take a step forward instinctively, the scent of him hits me like a train, staining my face red and my eyes land on his lips. It feels like I've felt them before. If I could just...I lift my arm towards his cheek slowly, before my fingertips meet his skin he flinches a little and for a moment I fear he'll run. What is he afraid of?
I try again, slower and he loose his own battle and lean into my touch. As soon as my hand is on his cheek my mind seem to shatter.
And I remember everything.

Legacy: A wolf's tale
Follow Akascha as she goes from a beast of burden to a lovely (well more like a slightly belligerent) young woman! Note. This is a shory story (about 25.000 words) I wrote a while back in high school. Therefore, the range and depth of the story might be a bit lacking, but I wanted to share it with you anyway now that I discovered RR. Although I would love comments or constructive criticisme (as one can always learn), be aware that I have - at this point in time - no plans of rewriting this story. Thank you and I hope you enjoy! Oh and before I forget! The first chapter is rather short, but the rest of the chapters will make up for it.

Release Schedule: Tuesdays & Fridays @ 10AM PST This work has cannon LGBT themes, characters, and situations but does not have explicit sexual content. Originally started in 2005 as a form of self-therapy writing has helped heal many of my wounds. The world grew until the concept of it being self-therapy did not contain it anymore. I scrapped what I had written to that point using it as an outline and started over, building it into a novel format. Containing stories of a diverse population and multiple lead characters each chapter centers on the perspective on the main character in the chapter. Blurb & Section Information Set five hundred years into Earth's future is this sci-fi political space opera. After a solar system fractured by conservative vs. liberal politics begins to settle, humanity is on the cusp of an amazing breakthrough in understanding the universe around them. Who knows what is out there? Part 1: Separation (10 Chapters) – The main players find themselves separated from the life they knew, unwittingly dragged into something larger. Part 2: Freedom (11 Chapters) – The first actions are taken, and choices are made that will impact the universe as a whole to drag it out of its state. Part 3: Knowledge (13 Chapters)
