《Leather Jacket Girl (girlxgirl)》Chapter Fifty-Seven

"Hey, do you want some breakfast?" Courtney asked me the next morning, as I woke up to see she was beside me in my bed. I knew that the two of us had been talking for ages. I supposed that somewhere along the line, I had fallen asleep on her. Literally. Courtney had both of her arms wound around me. I had never felt so safe in all of my life. She gave me a charming smile and I felt as though my heart might melt, then and there.

"Sure. What are you going to make me?" I asked her.

"Do you have pancakes, Nutella and bananas?" she asked me.

"I sure do!" I said, as I tried to remember the contents of our kitchen cupboards downstairs.

"Awesome! Then I can make you the Courtney specialty," she told me.

I gave a nod of agreement and watched as Courtney left my room.

I decided that was probably a good time for me to get ready for the day. Somehow Courtney was already all set for the day ahead. I supposed that she was much more of an early bird than I had ever been.

Once I was all ready for the day, I made my way downstairs to the kitchen to find Courtney was preparing breakfast for the two of us. She had her blonde hair tied up into a loose ponytail and looked absolutely beautiful as always.

"You look really cute today," I said.

A rare occurrence, a blush, appeared upon Courtney's face, as she began to flip over the pancake in the pan.

"What? No I do not!" she said.

"Well, I think you do. All the time. You're one of the most adorable people I have ever-"

Courtney just dabbed some Nutella on my nose then, so I chuckled and went to get a tissue to get rid of it.

"Sure. Well, I'm glad you think so," Courtney told me, as she moved the pancake onto a plate and began to add the Nutella and bananas as toppings. "Here you go, bunny," she said, as she passed me the plate.

"Thank you," I said, as I headed through to the dining room.

I looked outside to find that it was raining today and nobody else appeared to be awake. I figured that Bow was probably napping. He didn't tend to like to wake up early where he could avoid it. Callie was busy doing...well, whatever Callie did.

In the meantime, my mother was probably getting on with some work, which meant that it was simply Courtney and I.

Courtney soon walked into the dining room to join me. with a sweet smile upon her face. I really had missed that smile. It was such a relief to know that the two of us were now on good terms again. I knew that my life without her in it simply wasn't the same, which was crazy when I considered that we had only met several months ago. It was weird to think about how much someone could change and impact on your life within such a short time frame.

As Courtney sat down opposite me, she ate her pancake for a short while and then looked back up towards me.

"Is there something on my face?" I asked.

"Yeah, I'm in awe of how adorable you are," she said.

I felt a blush creep on my cheeks again, so I decided to distract myself by taking my plate back through into the kitchen.

Courtney soon joined me and put her plates away in the dishwasher, too. She then outstretched her hand to me.

"Should we go and meet up with Emmy and Elijah today?" she asked me.

I took her hand and gave it a gentle squeeze, before I heard the notifications on my phone buzz away. I had received several texts from both Emmy and Elijah. The two of them were outside and wanted to spend the day together.

"Wait, before we go-" Courtney said, as she placed a gentle kiss upon my cheek and then pressed her lips to mine for a moment, as her arms wound around my waist. Once she drew back from the kiss, she had a smile upon her face. "All better now. Let's get going," she told me.

The two of us relocated from the kitchen and made our way outside after we had put on our jackets, so we could meet with Emmy and Elijah.

"We usually spend Saturdays with our family, but..." Elijah trailed off.

"We wanted to come and see you and- Courtney," Emmy said.

"Hey Emmy," Courtney said, with a smile. This time around, it actually looked pretty genuine.

Soon after that, the four of us began to walk on. While Courtney spoke to Elijah, I was given an opportunity to speak with Emmy.

"Hey, how are you doing?" I asked her.

"I could be better," Emmy admitted.

That didn't surprise me in the slightest, especially when I was aware of everything that was going on.

"I'm here for you. I love you. It's going to be okay," I told her kindly.

"I love you too. It would be great if I could talk to Lois, I think...she's just been so busy recently," Emmy said.

"Why don't we stop by her cafe?" Courtney suggested, as she turned back to the two of us.

Emmy gave a nod of her head.

"That sounds like a good plan to me!" she said.

So, the four of us continued our walk on. Thankfully, although it was raining, there weren't any strong winds. Thus, I wouldn't get blown away and it also meant that their umbrellas could function properly.

We continued to walk on until we eventually reached Lois' cafe and she looked between us with interest.

"I'm glad that you all seem to be on good terms again," Lois commented.

Emmy met my gaze for a moment, before the two of us turned back to Lois to reply.

"We are too," we said.

"I wish that I could spend more time with you all but you know how it is, I've been persevering so much when it comes to obtaining my own cafe. It's actually sort of ridiculous," she said.

"I think it's cool!" Emmy told her.

"Thanks, sweetheart," Lois replied, as her eyes warmed when she looked towards Emmy momentarily.

Soon after that, we all were given lattes on the house by Lois. She told us that she wasn't usually one to just hand out free beverages but that she could make an exception for us.

The four of us sat down at a table and began to drink our coffees, as a smile returned to Emmy's face, if only for a moment. I knew that she had been struggling recently with a whole range of things but if there was one thing that she would have to help her, it was her friends' support. We weren't going anywhere. I was so glad that Courtney was now a part of our friendship group, too. For the first time in a while, things felt brighter between our group.
