emergencies only
The two women interlocked hands under the table. It was painfully understood that after all of this, they'd have to go their own ways.
"They can stay with us, can't they Mom?" Monica asked, dropping in on the conversation again.
"They won't be safe here, baby," Maria murmured the truth. The mother opened her arms to let her daughter sit on her lap. "Auntie Carol is right. They need their own home." All adults felt this sudden weight of bittersweet joy come over them. The Skrulls needed a home. Carol would be the most appropriate person to accompany them on that journey. Morrigan had completed her (modified) duties on Midgard and had to leave.
"I'll be back before you know it." She said reassuringly.
"I'll visit. Maybe bring my daughter as she's never been to Earth." Morrigan added quickly as Monica's eyes drifted to her.
"Maybe I can fly up and meet you half way —" She queried as Talo's daughter situated herself between her parents.
Fury was quick to interject. "Only if you learn to glow like your Auntie Carol."
"Or maybe build a spaceship and come visit you on Valyriate." Monica continued. "You don't know."
The two heroes smiled. "He doesn't," Carol said. Fury looks at her with a playful glare.
"And if he did, we wouldn't tell him." The table rumbled with laughter as Fury gave up trying to keep Monica on the ground but he knew she'd make it to the stars sooner than later.
After a few more minutes of small talk, everyone was finished with dinner. The original trio volunteered to clean up. No one objected as they were all exhausted from the day's events. So the rest of them took their drinks and went out into lounge room.
The three stood around the table, wondering what to tackle first. "I'll collect the culinary." Morrigan picked up an empty glass. "I'll put them in this."

"I'll stack the plates." Fury said, beginning to scrape the surrounding leftovers onto his plate and slide the plates under it.
"Let me pack away the placemats." The other blonde picked up each mat Fury took the plate off of. The three chuckled as they had to dodge each other around the table to get everything. As Carol put away the mats in a nearby drawer, the other two went for the kitchen at the same time, bashing shoulders. "Guys, it's one at a time."
In the kitchen they placed the plates and cup beside the sink. Fury turned on the water and picked up the soap. "Go help Carol pack away the leftovers while I get a head start on, whatever this is." She agreed, giving Fury a supportive pat on the back. "You two better come back and help me."
"Hen rhinka." She smirked, leaving Fury to question what the hell she just said. Poking her head into the dining room, she watched silently as Carol picked up some rubbish and cleared the table. "Need some help?"
Surprised at first, Carol laughs. "Ah — yeah, can you take these containers into the kitchen? I'll be there in a minute." Morrigan agreed and picked up three stacks kitchen boxes and took them to the kitchen while Carol finished up.
Leaving the boxed leftovers on the countertop, Morrigan rounded it and came up besides Fury. "Good, you're back, help me wash these dishes." Scooting over, Fury gave her enough roomful squeeze in a pick up a dish and begin washing the food off. Not even a minute in, Morrigan already had a particular distaste for this labour. "What? The Queen can't wash some dishes?"
"I don't wash dishes. I rule a planet." She exclaimed, handing over the cleaned plate to Fury.
They heard Carol's footsteps enter the kitchen. "But as long as you're on Earth, you're gonna have to wash some dishes." As she nears the Queen, she puts a hand on her shoulder and watched amusingly as Morrigan picked up another plate. "Okay, I'll dry them." Stepping around Fury, Carol picked up a tee-towel and begun to dry and stack the cleaned dishes.

They slowly made their way through the dinner's hardware. When Carol abruptly stopped and looked out the window, thoughts racing through her head, Morrigan knew something was up. She leaned down as Carol turned to face them. "Keep the Tesseract on Earth. Hidden."
Fury scrunched up his face as he put down a clean dish. "You sure that's what Marvel would want?"
"Mar-Vell." Carol corrected, returning to her station.
"That's what I said." Fury said as the two women laughed at his mistake.
Morrigan picked up another dish. "No it's not."
"And it's two words, Mar-Vell." She takes another plate from Fury.
"Mar-Vell." He repeats to himself, Morrigan and Carol gazing up with a concerned look. "Marvel sounds a lot better. You know, like the Marvelettes." The two alien women cast him a slightly worried eye and at each other.
Fury straightens up, completely frazzled both of them didn't know what he was talking about. He picks up the sink brush and begins to sing with it. "Wait oh yes, wait a minute mister postman." He then swaggers his hands in the air as he continues. "Hey , hey hey, hey hey mister postman!" He drops the musical act when neither of them reacts. "Ringing any bells?"
"Keep singing. It might come back to me."
Morrigan sighs as she washes the last dish. "It'll never come to me."
Sticking his hands up, Fury couldn't take it anymore. "Fine, you two can bully me all you want but that was good piece I just did." Morrigan and Carol lock eyes and burst out laughing while Fury shakes his head. "Okay — Wait what if you took the Tesseract with you back to Valyriate?" Fury changed the subject.
The Queen dips the plate in the wash as Carol moves away from the sink and fiddles with something. "I could however it would be unwise. I don't want to include my people in something I got myself into." Fury nods, understanding where she was coming from.
"Hey." Catching both of their attentions, Carol sticks up two identical pagers, with her suit's star design on the visual part. "When I got back, Maria lent me these old pagers, and I upgraded both. Range should be a couple galaxies for both at least. It took me a while to figure out the transmission with Valyriate, but I managed just fine."
Morrigan knew she did. Carol handed the Queen the small little device. When Fury reaches for his, she retracted her hand. "What? You think I'm gonna prank call you? She will be the annoying one." Fury joked, only to receive a godly pat on the back.
"For emergencies only okay." She emphasized, making Morrigan feel a little down. If she like only call Carol for help, then she'd hardly ever get to see her.
Fury takes the pager like a new toy and fiddles with it, letting out a devious chuckle. "Hey, if you're ever passing through this galaxy, be sure to give a brother a shout!"
"I'm her favorite; she'll come through mine first." She joked, sticking out a fist pump. Fury reluctantly pounds it and then Carol's, who lets an sizzle of energy sting his hand. "We got you!" They gave each other a high five before enveloping Fury in a hug. "Now we really got you."

Steamforged Sorcery [A Steampunk LitRPG]
This is a fantasy story in a steampunk setting, not a sci-fi. The Great War ravaged the face of the earth many years ago. In the years that passed, the world rebuilt, mixing machinery and magic to form something new. Great blimps took to the sky, belching steam and smoke as metal cities sprouted like weeds below. Angel, a talented mage, scours the desert endlessly in search of lost knowledge. When it unexpectedly falls into his hands, he quickly comes to realize that the world is far larger – and far more deadly – than he ever could have predicted. But no amount of danger is going to keep Angel from seeking out greater strength and traveling the world, claiming all the greatest treasure that it has to offer. To most, the desert is a dangerous threat to be feared. To Angel, it’s a land of opportunity, waiting to be exploited. Steamforged Sorcery is, as the title suggests, a LitRPG Steampunk story with heavy focus on magic and scenery. The main character starts out relatively strong (but far from overpowered) but will eventually grow in strength to incredible levels. It is moderately paced and does not progress at ridiculous speeds. Release Schedule: 1,500 words daily Monday-Friday

Project TheirWorld: Book Two - Tatterskin
**IMPORTANT: Because I am trying to reconcile some of the consistancy issues due to unexpected changes in how I've decided to write the story, this story is to be renamed/reordered. I apologize for any confusion or inconvenience. The Tutorial (completed, but unedited) is now to be concidered as Book One of Tatterskin. Tatterskin will contiune without real inturruption, though "Book Two" is really going to be the rest of the series with multiple volumes. Sorry guys! I've gone and brought the chaos of my real life into the storyverse T-T. ----- Dassah Graydon was just another human woman looking for adventure in her life when she moved to the academic floating continent, the Enclave. But while she wanted to escape her mundane reality, she quickly discovers that her life there – with the exception of all the crazy aliens and the unusual setting – was no different than her life on Earth had been. After spending a couple of months getting used to the place, she finally got the chance to play the popular new VRMMORPG, TheirWorld. As she is drawn deeper and deeper into the game, however, she begins to realize that her in-game life is far more connected to the happenings of reality than she could have imagined. Finding herself in the middle of a conspiracy that threatens her life and the lives of the people around her, Dassah must decide whether she allows herself to be a puppet, or she finds the determination to become the master of her own fate. This is a Project: TheirWorld story, and there is a prequel story, The Tutorial (completed, but unedited) but if I am doing my job, you won't need to have read that to enjoy this one. ____ The story will usually update once a week, sometime on Fridays JST. The updates on Royal Road L will be about 1 chapter behind my main WordPress site found here: Project: TheirWorld. This will change, as the WordPress site will have holiday releases and RRL will not. Thank you for reading, and the support! :) ____

Vendor of Spirits
A warlock once made a pact with the Powers Above. He snuck in a clause that resurrected him whenever he died, with all his memories intact. He lived for thousands of years in a hundred different bodies, changing the world into a dystopian regime where he could freely pursue his passions: alcohol, television and ducks. This made the Powers Above very angry, so they erased his memories and reincarnated him as a simple barmaid in a sleepy village where she could do no harm. I don’t know any of this, of course. I just find it very annoying that she’s chosen me to tag along with.
