《Captain Marvel》Chapter 13: The Showdown

Carol positioned herself behind an asteroid so she couldn't be seen by the outposts. They had shifts that were rotating every thirty minutes, so all she was waiting for was the perfect opportunity. Nenora and Mar-Vell's ship were not far from her. Ronan decided he was joining this battle, bringing his greatest warriors.
"Any news on the Super-Skrull?" Carol asked through the comms.
"It's been quiet in my corner. No movement." Ronan reported.
"Wait. I'm picking something up." Korath lifted his radar on front of him. There was a area with a high heat signature. "I think I see him."
"Do we have a position?" Mar-Vell anxiously asked.
"Armoury. Maybe he's moving towards the control room. But for now, he's staying stationary."
"That can be anyone, Korath. Don't keep your hopes up." Ronan said.
"But it has the highest heat signature in the entire ship." Korath argued. "Ask Mar-Vell. He's encountered him before."
"Actually Korath, he had one of the highest heat signatures. But notice a word. One." Mar-Vell said. "He always had a trooper who had the highest heat energy blast open the doors."
"That means, scan for rooms with a area which has a high amount of heat." Ronan added.
There was a moment of silence for everyone. Carol and Nenora were still watching the ship closely, observing the change in guards.
"Fourth highest, in the control room." Korath said.
"What did I tell you?" Ronan chuckled and started his engine. "We're about to hit jackpot."
The time they change the guard, a fleet of Skrull ships had also passed by, giving them a face-off against the Super-Skrull alone.
After a while of waiting, the guards changed which caught the eye of Carol immediately. She alerted everyone about it. They all went into their attack position and waited for two minutes. They knew that all the guards would go to the archive to lock in their observation.

"All right. They're all gone on this side." Carol reported.
"Wait." Ronan said, "Two guards haven't left. They haven't been told yet."
"Well, I'm not waiting. Nenora, Mar-Vell. Let's move."
Carol's side attacked the ship, shooting down the weaponry first to make their attack easier. Almost in an instant, multiple Skrulls were already shooting at them, like they knew they would attack. Nenora and Mar-Vell regrouped at a free wall, shooting it down. Carol noticed them and decided to help them out. She grabbed some energy of a blaster shot and released it into the war. It opened and everything was being sucked out.
"We need someone to cover it." Carol told Mar-Vell and Nenora.
"I'll cover it. Nenora, go with Carol." Mar-Vell said, keeping his promise. Nenora ditched the ship and flew into the ship. Mar-Vell covered it with ice and returned to battle.
Carol and Nenora took some time to breath, especially after the battle that was happening outside. Carol could make out what was happening outside. Ships were being blown with ease by the Skrulls. They knew where and when to shoot.
"These are some elite Skrulls." Carol complimented the enemy.
"Of course." Nenora said and sighed, "This is their best space station. The elite must all live here."
"Note taken." Carol smiled and walked towards the door. It was damaged from the gravity sucking some of its parts.
She punched it with force and the door fell down. Multiple guards appeared around the hall but Nenora and Carol took them down with ease. Nenora was shooting behind Carol who was beating the guards with her bare fists.
An enemy with a large blaster shot Carol in the chest. She grabbed it before it could hit and she threw it back, causing a explosion between energy and the blaster.

"You really mastered energy, haven't you?" Nenora chuckled, reloading her weapon.
"It's a skill that I learned from Mar-Vell." Carol said, "He's a good teacher, actually."
"I wish I could have his powers. We would be bad ass when we go out taking names."
"Now that is what I'm sure. You and I are total ass-kickers." Carol smirked and started walking to the control room. "Ronan, status report?"
"We are clearing out house." Ronan laughed, as an explosion could be heard on his end, "We'll be in there shortly."
"Great to hear."
Meanwhile, Mar-Vell was helping out some troopers who were getting shot by Skrull ships from behind. There were a lot of ships who were defending on the strong side of the station. But the weak side had almost no ships there. He stood his ground and waited for something to happen.
"Korath. Ronan. What's your status on the destroyed ships?" Mar-Vell asked, looking around.
"We are mainly kicking ass and taking names. But we still have a lot of ships on this side, why won't you help us?" Korath asked.
"Actually, I think you might want to help on this side."
Carol and Nenora reached the control room after taking waves and waves of guards through the hallways. Nenora grabbed her sword out after she ran out of ammo for her weapon.
"Can we get someone to heat signature my room?" Carol asked someone on the comms.
"I'm on it." Mar-Vell answered. There was a string of silence, "He is still in the room. We have eyes on him."
"Is it possible that you can shoot him from there?"
"Don't have a clear shot. Windows are too powerful."
"Alright." Carol called off with Mar-Vell and looked at Nenora, "We have to breach in ourselves. Ready?"
"Of course."
Carol punched the door with the spare energy that was left in her hands. Carol and Nenora aimed their weapons at Kl'rt, who was standing on front of the room, looking into the stars. The workers were scared that they were there but Kl'rt told them to go away.
"Super-Skrull, great to see you in person." Carol sarcastically said, catching her breath for a moment.
"Great to see you in person too, Ms. Danvers." Kl'rt said.
"How do you know my... we haven't met before, right?"
"I know you well enough that you were planning for this attack." Kl'rt smiled, as the fleet of ships suddenly appeared, defending the weak side of the space station.
Mar-Vell and his group had to move towards Ronan and Korath, who were already getting pummelled by the ships on the strong side.
"You were spying on me, weren't you?" Carol grabbed energy from the control mechanisms, "That doesn't matter now, because you'll pay."
"That's why there's always a Plan B." Kl'rt smiled.
Suddenly Carol could feel a sword touch her neck. Nenora was about to slice her throat if she moved further. Carol's energy spheres disappeared.
"You've got to be kidding." Carol annoyingly said.

The Last Marshal
Weird West Fantasy Noir Once the Republic Marshals brought order to the chaotic lands along the Frontier, facing dangers both human and supernatural with ancient wisdom and a six-gun —but that was a long time ago. Destroyed by conspiracy and betrayal, all that remains of that secretive order is one nameless man on a trek though the West seeking revenge on the woman he blames for the Marshals' fall and his disgrace. When a visitor from our world joins him on his journey, they together must confront the horrors of a strange land, the mysteries of the past and the real meaning of their quest for justice. The world of Tellus is what 19th Century Earth would have looked like if the stories of Poe, Ambrose Bierce, Lovecraft and William Hope Hodgeson were real. History in this world moves slower. The old faiths persist and civilization never conquered the dark corners of the map, at least not without being inextricably changed. Technology and culture takes a little longer to evolve in this land, as people here tend to spend more time pursuing their elaborate revenge plots or trying to avoid being the next sacrifice to the Outer Gods rather than advancing science or statecraft. Imagine Cormac McCarthy by way of Edgar Rice Burroughs, though a little less testosterone-drenched than that description would imply. Three caveats: First, there are deep mysteries here, including how such a world came to be and who controls it. Second, this world is not wholly unconnected from our own. There is a historical point of divergence, but in the distant past. To paraphrase Twain: history in this world is not a repeat of our own, but it does often rhyme. And finally, this is not a setting that lends itself to happy endings.
