《Captain Marvel》Chapter 3: The History

Carol was sitting outside the recovery room of the Kree man until her family arrived. Her mother, who dressed old-fashioned, and her brother who loves to wear polos even during the extreme of weather.

"Mom!" Carol shouted and hugged her mother tightly. Her brother also joined hugging her as tears came out of her eyes, "I missed you guys so much."

"As soon as we heard what happened, we went on a flight to California." Marie explained.

"Hey, Joe, still looking young as ever." Carol smirked a little, giving her older brother a playful punch in the shoulder.

"What the hell?" Joe said, holding his shoulder in pain, "You've started trying boxing?"

"It's..." Carol smiled faintly, "complicated."

"Indeed it is." Coulson said as he approached them three, "Ms. Danvers, it appears your daughter has been given extraordinary powers. She's still adjusting."

"What? Will she be okay?" Marie asked Coulson.

"As it appears, there are no harmful effects. But... her whole body has been enhanced heavily." Coulson said but Marie seemed more confused, "She turned into a living hero."

"Carol." Marie placed her hands on her shoulders, "Your father always wanted you to become successful. He really did. But all that is happening, it's bringing you down. There is no way that you are a enhanced being."

"You should ask the kid. He felt it." Coulson said.

"How much did it hurt?" Marie asked her son.

"It's still aching. She really punched me hard. I think it's about to become permanent." Joe sarcastically said.

"Carol?"

"That was a playful punch. I barely placed any force." Carol explained.

"It's within her, Ms. Danvers. With our current situation, we can't treat her. But she won't have a death threat from this sickness." Coulson said.

"No. We're leaving immediately. Carol, pack your bags, you're going back to Texas."

"I'm afraid you can't do that, ma'am. The being who gave her these powers is in the recovery room. Once he gives us answers on how to deal with Carol, I'm sure we can let her responsibility be with you." Coulson smiled.

"Seems like a fair deal." Marie said and then whispered to Carol, "Once your done talking with the person who gave you this, we're taking you to Texas to find a doctor."

Carol didn't want to go back to Texas because she already had a great life in California. The only thing that was bothering was the relationship she had with Neville. Now that she thinks about it, she wished her mom never visited her in the first place. She could take care of herself.

The security brought her family to a local diner where they could spend the rest of their day while they wait for the Kree to wake up. Coulson called Carol for a conversation.

"I calmed your mother down. You are going to be here longer than you expected." Coulson sighed.

"I could tell by the tone." Carol scoffed, "I never asked to be a pilot, you know? The only reason why I'm a pilot is because of my dad."

"Your dad was a pilot and he convinced you to become one as well?" Coulson guessed.

"No. We were quite a poor family. When he only had enough money to send one of his children to college, he chose Stevie, because he apparently had a brighter future than me." Carol choked a little as she said that.

"What happened soon after?"

"My brother died during a bombing in his school. After that, all my father's money was turned into nothing. He was poor." Carol had teary eyes. "I had to work hard for a life. I had to stay up the whole day, making money so I had the slightest chance of having a normal life. And I succeeded."

"Let me guess. Your father regretted his decision."

"Bingo." Carol tried to joke but she did it pathetically, "He regretted his decision and he left my family. We never knew where he went. All his credit cards, passports, clothes are all still there. The only thing missing is him."

Just before Carol could start crying, the door opened in the recovery room. The doctor peeked his head out the door.

"The patient is awake. You are now available to visit him."

"Will he act aggressive?" Carol asked with her arms crossed, trying to hold back tears.

"He's strapped to the bed, ma'am. I'm pretty sure he can't withstand it." The doctor then left the room and headed towards the cafeteria.

"The Director is asking you to join him." Coulson said after listening to the comms. "I'm pretty sure he's already in there."

Carol slowly walked towards the door and opened it. The Director was sitting in a chair that was placed beside the bed of the Kree. While she scanned the room, his eyes were still closed.

"Is he okay? I thought he was awake?" Carol said.

"No. They just meant that his breathing is back to normal. He can wake up any second now." The Director said.

"And when is he-" Carol screamed when the Kree started to try and escape the grasp of the armbands started breaking. "He's definitely awake now!"

"I got it!" The Director stood up and stabbed a needle on his neck which seemed to calm him down. His breathing went back to normal and his eyes were open, trying to catch a breath slowly. "That's how you deal with one bad motherf-"

"Yes! I got your sentence." Carol shook her head. "Hello? Can you hear me?"

"Where- where am I?" Mar-Vell asked, in a voice that barely anyone could hear.

"What?" The Director asked in annoyance.

"I think he asked where am I." Carol repeated.

"Well you're in Earth, sir!" The Director screamed into the Kree's ear, "And here, we usually talk loud enough for us to hear!"

"Easy there, Director." Carol pulled the Director out, "He's trying to figure out what's happening."

"Alright. We'll start over." The Director leaned back on the chair, "Why did you land here?"

"Because I was escaping them." Mar-Vell answered in a more clear voice but still faint.

"Who is them? Stop playing the damn pronoun game because we don't anything." The Director said.

"The Skrulls. They were trying to kill me. I escape to Earth because it is... safe."

"Well, with you in it, it's not safe anymore." The Director chuckled sarcastically.

"Must contact Supreme Intelligence." Mar-Vell said.

"Who?" Carol asked but didn't get a response. She got in closer to ask, "Who is Supreme Intelligence."

"The most intelligent being in the... universe." Mar-Vell said.

"Alright. I had enough. We'll let him get some rest so he could answer more questions." The Director stood up and started walking away, "Carol, I'm afraid we have to go to our discloses base. I need you to try and fit something."

"Something like?" Carol asked with a confused face.

"A suit that you could use if he doesn't make it out of Earth alive."
