Though she couldn't help but worry about her friend, she knew that there were other things that she had to put her attention on, and one of them was the woman that had crossed the galaxy in order to see her. Carol was there to see her, and Poppy was more concerned about what it was that was going on with her friend, but she knew that Carol was going to be alright with that. She knew that Carol was going to be alright with everything that was going on with her life – seeing as she was more involved with S.H.I.E.L.D than she had ever imagined that she would've been.

When Poppy made her way back into her apartment, Carol was looking over all of the decorations that were hanging on her wall and Carol turned her attention over to her. The blonde-haired woman stared at her for a few seconds, before turning her attention back to a photo. Poppy turned her head to see what it was that she was looking at to see that she was staring at an image of Poppy with both Maria and Monica. A small smile appeared on Poppy's lips as she stared at the image and she turned her attention to the other woman.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "They would love to see you, you know," Poppy pointed out and Carol smiled to herself for a few seconds, before she shook her head. The dark-haired woman let out a heavy sigh for a few seconds, before folding her arms over her chest. "I know that you have to stay here and only here while you're here, but we could bring them here—"

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "I don't think it's safe," Carol cut her off as she turned to face her and the two of them stared at each other for a few seconds and she let out a heavy sigh. She held her hands in front of herself for a few seconds as she made her way over to her. "I just don't want to endanger the two of them in case something bad happens here. At least here—"

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "At least, here, there's a facility full of superheroes that would be able to defend themselves and kick some serious ass," Poppy finished for her and Carol titled her head to the side. The woman reached for Carol's hand into her own and she rubbed her thumb against the back of her own and she smiled at her. "I know that you want to do whatever it is that you can to protect them, but I hope you know that I'm probably going to call Maria and tell her that you were here and that you said, 'hey'."

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Carol let out a low chuckle as she stared at her, before nodding her head, "I'm alright with that," the two of them stared at each other for a few seconds, before she reached over and tucked a strand of Poppy's hair behind her ear. The two of them continued to stare at each other for a few moments and Poppy's eyes glanced down to the blonde-haired woman's lips, but that was when she could feel a presence in the room and that was when a ghost appeared behind Carol. The blonde-haired woman could tell that there was something else in the room and she pressed her lips together. "What's wrong?"

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "Nothing," Poppy replied as she turned her attention back up to Carol. The other woman stared at her for a few moments, and she could tell that she didn't believe her. She knew that Carol could read her like an opened book and that it was only going to be a matter of time before she realized that there was something else that was going on, but she knew that there were only a few ways to get the ghosts out of her mind and that was to distract herself. And she hated to use others as a form of distraction to get the spirits out of her mind.

Though, it seemed as if Carol was already one step ahead of her.

The blonde-haired woman caressed her face and pressed her lips against her own and pulled her closer toward her. The two of them stood there for a matter of moments as their lips moved against the other's in sync, and Poppy's hand rested against the back of Carol's neck for a few seconds, before she knotted her fingers in the other woman's hair. She deepened the kiss as she stood in front of the other woman, before she snaked her other arm around the other woman's waist, pulling her against her.

After a few moments that the two of them shared the intimate moment, they stared at each other and it was Poppy that grabbed onto Carol's hand and led her out of the living room. She didn't look over her shoulder to see if the ghost was gone because she could feel that the ghost was gone just by the feeling that their eyes were no longer burning into the back of her skull. All she cared about at that moment was Carol Danvers and the way that the two of them made the other feel when they were alone together.

By the time that the two of them were locked behind closed doors, neither of them knew how long they were hidden behind them, but they weren't interrupted. Instead, they were able to relax and revel in what it was that they had gone through with the other, sharing kisses with the other, before Poppy's phone went off. She didn't want to have to deal with the work that she had, but when she knew that she had a job to do, and Carol encouraged her to answer the call.

The two of them had enough time in the world to spend with each other, and Poppy knew that as soon as she jumped back into the work, the quicker she was going to be able to return to what it was that she was doing with Carol. And that was one of the only things that she cared about.

The only thing was, she didn't know what it was that was going to be thrown at her next—and she sure as hell wasn't going to be prepared for it.
