Chapter 37 - Good Night

After her shift, Kelsey shamefully apologized to Nick and luckily, he only gave her a warning telling her that it was not to happen again. After her long day at work, she was relieved to see Enrique patiently waiting outside on the parking lot.

She hopped in the car and also apologized to Enrique about her faulty mood earlier. She felt bad that she got angry at him when he was just trying to do his job. She knew how Mason could be as a boss and she was just glad that Enrique was still breathing after having to work with a monster for many years.

They quietly drove home and Kelsey felt exhausted from her long day. All she wanted to do was curl up in bed and cast all her worries aside for tomorrow. Once they arrived home, she gratefully thanked Enrique for his service and Kelsey went to the penthouse. She punched in the code and was greeted by the eeriness of the silent and dark house. She flipped on the light-switch as it travelled around and brightened the room.

Kelsey sighed and made her way to Mason's room. It was oddly quiet and she thought that maybe he was still at work. She knocked on the closed door and there was no reply. She slowly opened the door and found a very tired-looking Mason sleeping peacefully on the bed with his glasses still on and a stack of paper in his hand. Kelsey gently took his glasses off and placed it on the nightstand and carefully unleashed the file in his hand and placed it under his glasses.

She then pulled on the duvet and placed it on top of him to keep him warm and cozy. She sat on the edge of the bed and didn't notice that she had been staring at him for quite a while now. She couldn't help but think how innocent and adorable he looked when he was sound asleep. Before she could even stop herself, her fingers grazed on his forehead to sweep the strand of hair away from his face.

"Good night, Mason." She whispered as she placed a light kiss on his forehead. She turned the lights off from the nightstand and softly closed the door behind.

Mason's eyes opened slowly when he heard the door shut closed. He could feel his heart pounding wildly against his chest and it was driving him insane. No woman had ever affected him as Kelsey have. He hated the feeling of being vulnerable and weak, especially because of a woman. But lately, he found himself getting worried whenever she wasn't around, he panicked when he sees her cry, he got easily angry whenever she was talking with other men, and every time she was near by, all he wanted to do was pull her closer and kiss her to taste her strawberry-tasting lips.

Right then, Mason realized that he was in deep trouble.

For the next three days, Mason and Kelsey had been busy with their work. They barely saw each other and if they did, it would only be in the mornings when they would casually say a simple greeting before leaving for work. Kelsey was just glad that it was already Friday. She hadn't been getting enough sleep lately but she was glad that the evil witch didn't visit her workplace again. Hopefully, she never see her again.

It was nine-thirty in the evening when her coworker called in sick. Nick asked Kelsey if she could stay until closing since it was a Friday, a really busy day. She agreed to stay and helped him out. Once the clock hit 1:00am, they locked the doors and started cleaning up. It was already quarter to two when they had finished cleaning. Kelsey changed her clothes and said a quick farewell to Nick before leaving. She fished her phone out of her bag and saw roughly about 10 missed calls from Mason.

She had totally forgot to tell him that she was doing closing today. She was about to call him back when her eyes caught a man leaning against a car in the parking lot. She glanced at him and strolled towards his way. "Where's Enrique?" She asked him.

"I sent him home. Wasn't your shift suppose to finish three hours ago?" He questioned as he opened the door for her. She climbed in and strapped her seatbelt on.

"My manager asked me if I could do closing with him since it was a very busy day." She explained and he shut her door closed after she talked. He quickly went around the car to get onto the driver's seat. He hopped in and strapped his seatbelt. He ignited the car and pulled out of the lot.

"And you didn't even bother telling me about it? I had to call the café to make sure you were still there." He scolded her and Kelsey didn't have enough strength to argue with him. She just really wanted to sleep and have a good night rest.

"I'm sorry." She uttered as she leaned her head against the headrest and closed her eyes. Mason glanced at her and saw how tired she was. He dropped the conversation and sighed as he let her sleep. He drove in silence and parked in front of the building. He gave the keys to the valet boy to park his car. He didn't have the heart to wake Kelsey up from her peaceful sleep so he decided to carry her instead.

He entered the elevator that went straight to his penthouse and stared at the beautiful woman tucked on his chest. He smiled to himself and whispered. "This feels like a déjà vu." He said as he remembered the very first time he had brought her to his penthouse. The only difference was that he didn't think she would be waking up anytime soon since she looked very tired from work.

"Good night, mon amour." He muttered and gently placed a kiss on her lips. He shouldn't have done it since he felt like he was taking advantage of her sleeping state but he couldn't help himself. He hadn't seen her for three days and he really missed the taste of those luscious lips. He just couldn't resists himself. "What are you doing to me, Kelsey?" He sighed in confusion as the elevator dinged and opened.

Kelsey woke up later than usual the next day since it was Saturday. It was already ten o'clock when she rose from the bed and quickly showered. Once she was all dressed, she descended down the stairs and was greeted with multiple luggages behind the couch. She eyed the luggages warily before entering the kitchen where she found Georgia packing some sandwiches.

"Good morning, sweetheart. Had a good sleep?" Georgia warmly greeted and placed the sandwiches in a lunch bag. She then started washing some strawberries and cut them into pieces.

"Yeah, I feel less like a zombie." She kidded causing Georgia to let out a sneaker. Kelsey then placed a cup under the coffee maker and brew herself some coffee.

"I hope you're not overworking yourself. Your health is still more important than your job." Georgia advised, reminding Kelsey of her mother who always tell her to take some day off from work and just relax. "At least now I know what you and Mason have in common." Georgia added as Kelsey chuckled in response. It was true, she and Mason were both workaholic in a way.

"You feed us very well, Georgia. Your healthy cooking keeps us alive these days." Kelsey joked and both of them laughed. When the laughter has died down, Kelsey couldn't keep her mouth shut any longer as the curiosity bugged her. "Hey Georgia, why are there luggages in the living room? Is Mason leaving for a trip?" She finally asked her.

Georgia looked at her and smiled. "I think both of you deserve a trip. So Mason prepared one for you." She answered as Kelsey stared at her in bewilderment and surprise.

"We're going on a trip?" She questioned. "Right now?" She added.

"Yes." Mason responded from behind, causing both her and Georgia to turn their heads toward the direction of the kitchen door. "Right now. Because if we don't leave, we'll get there later and wouldn't have enough time to have fun."

"But where are we going?" Kelsey asked.

Mason smiled and took the lunch bag with sandwiches and fruits in it that Georgia prepared. "Thanks Georgia." He said as he kissed her cheek. "We'll be back Monday evening." He informed her, ignoring Kelsey's question.

"Alright, you two have fun. I'll see you then!" Georgia wished them as Mason grabbed Kelsey's hand and pulled her to the living room.

"See you, Georgia." She quickly said before the kitchen door closed. Kelsey watched as a bellman placed the luggages in a luggage cart and left the house. "Where exactly are we going, Mason?" She asked him again.

"You'll see." He replied as he pulled her out of the penthouse.
