Chapter 11 - The Make-Over

Kelsey heard the ringing of the doorbell startling her. She put the last pile of clothes in the drawer and closed it. She slowly stood up from the floor shaking her numb legs. She then started making her way down the stairs and saw the siblings greeting each other.

"So, where is she?" The gentle voice of the beautiful woman standing beside Mason asked. She was indeed gorgeous and it was no doubt she and Mason were siblings. They had good genes. They both had brown hair but Mason had really dark hair whereas his sister had more of chocolate brown hair with some blonde highlights. They also both had ocean blue eyes and tall figure. Kelsey stared at them amazed that they looked as if they had just finished modelling for a fashion show.

Mason glanced to his right only to see Kelsey standing at the foot of the staircase. She looked nervous as she bit her lip and played with the necklace around her neck. "Here she is." Mason announced beckoning her over. Kelsey reluctantly made her way over to them as was greeted by a warm smile.

"Hi, I'm Ella!" Mason's sister introduced with an enthusiastic voice and sticked out her hand.

"Kelsey." She replied shaking Ella's hand and sent her a warm smile in return.

"Nice to meet you, Kelsey. And I am so excited for your make-over today!" She squealed in delightedness.

"Make-over?" Kelsey asked warily with scrunched up nose and furrowed eyebrows which Mason found really adorable look on her. Kelsey shot Mason a questioning look which snapped him out of his insane thoughts and he shook his head vigorously for thinking such a thing.

"Yes, a make-over." He slowly answered. "Ella here will help you pick out some clothes that you'll be wearing when we attend important events and of course, casual wear. A soon-to-be-Mrs.-King should look presentable at all times." Mason explained as Kelsey tried to process everything in her head. She felt a little offended by what he had said but glanced at her outfit and grimaced. He was right, a baseball shirt, ripped jeans, and a pair of white chucks sneakers didn't appeal to be a soon-to-be-Mrs.-King.

"Don't worry, Kelsey. I'll work my magic on you that you'll look far better than 'presentable'" Ella declared as she looped her arm around Kelsey's. "Let's go!" She said excitedly dragging poor Kelsey along with her.

"Where are we going?" Kelsey asked glancing back at Mason with pleading eyes. A make-over didn't really sound pleasing to her. However, Mason shot her a smirked and waved goodbye.

"Bring her back before 5pm, we have a dinner to attend to." It was the only thing he said as Ella dragged Kelsey in the elevator.

"Will do!" Ella replied as the elevator door shut closed and Kelsey felt extremely anxious with this make-over thing.

"Ow!" Kelsey yelped as Harvey pulled another strand of her eyebrow hair.

"Sorry." He quickly apologized. "We're almost done, just a couple more left." He announced as Kelsey felt the need to rubbed the skin of where her eyebrows were to relieved the pain. After a couple of minutes of pain and torture, Harvey was finally finished pulling her eyebrow hair.

Ella and Kelsey went straight to the salon after leaving Mason's penthouse. Ella insisted that she needed a new look. Hence, she got a haircut with some added light brown highlights, cleaned aligned eyebrows and a face massage. Her long waisted hair was now cut short that it barely reached her shoulders and her face felt so light yet painful from all the tugging and pulling of her eyebrow hair.

"Is she almost done, Harvey?" Ella asked as she set her phone down to glanced at Kelsey.

"She is officially done, Ella-Bella!" Harvey announced as he spun the chair Kelsey was sitting on. Ella gasped and Kelsey felt anxious all of a sudden. Did she look bad? Was the make-over not effective? Did she look like a clown?

"Is it that bad?" She asked Ella warily. Ever since they had been to the salon, Ella restricted her from looking at any mirrors at all. She was prohibited from doing so because Ella wanted her look to be a surprise.

"Bad?! Girl, you are absolutely stunning!" Ella enthusiastically got up from her chair and clasped her hands together. "Great work, Harvey!"

"Of course, a pleasure to be turning this Cinderella into a princess." He joked as he spun the chair once more so Kelsey could look at herself on the mirror.

Once she saw herself, she couldn't believed what she saw. She definitely didn't look like herself. The lady in front of her looked ravishing and beautiful, nothing like her. She was starting to doubt whether it was truly her she was seeing or someone else. She ran her finger along her face and gasped in astonishment when she was certain in was truly her she was seeing.

"I look- I-I look.....different." She finally stuttered out in amazement. "I look amazing! Thanks, Harvey!" She said shooting him a grateful smile.

"No problemo, Seniõrita." He said proudly with a smile. "Glad I can help. I mean, it was really not that hard, you're a natural. Already stunning without any make-up." He stated.

" I know, I'm getting jealous..." Ella playfully said earning a shy smile from Kelsey who was flushing red.

"Seriously girls, stop with the flattery." Kelsey begged as she felt like she looked like a red chilli pepper.

"Fine, let's go then." Ella beckoned her over as Kelsey got up from her chair.

"Let's go?" She questioned. "Where are we going now? Didn't we finish the make-over yet?" She asked in wonder.

"This is only the beginning, Kelsey. We still need to go shopping!" Ella squealed in delight.

"Shopping?" Kelsey muttered in horror. The one thing she hated the most was shopping. Firstly, she had no money to buy anything and secondly, she couldn't stand fitting on clothes one after another.

"I think someone's afraid of shopping." Harvey teased earning a snicker from Ella.

"Don't worry, Kels, I got you." She assured her as she dragged Kelsey out of the salon. "Thanks again, Harvey! 'Til next time!" Ella waved goodbye as Harvey blew her a kiss.

"Good luck, Kelsey. And don't kill her Ella-Bella." Harvey said preventing himself from laughing.

Kelsey let Ella dragged her to the car as she was still in a horror state from thinking that they are going shopping. "You okay, Kels?" Ella asked worriedly.

"Shopping." She whispered as Ella laughed so hard.

"You'll be fine." She assured her as Kelsey sulked in her seat. It was going to be a long day...

"Next!" Ella yelled as she shooed Kelsey away and pushed her back inside the change room.

"But this is the seventeenth time I've changed!" Kelsey whined earning a glare from Ella.

"Kelsey, we must find the perfect dress for you to wear for your date tonight." Ella simply stated.

"What date?" She asked in bewilderment.

"Your date with my brother, remember?" When Kelsey replayed what Mason said in the morning, it finally clicked in her head what Ella was talking about.

"But it's not a date, it's a dinner we have to attend to. Meaning, he didn't ask me out, it's part of my job description." She explained thoroughly to Ella.

"Oh potahto-potato! Same difference! He technically asked you out." Ella persuaded her as she pushed her in the change room. "Now go and change and try this one on." She ordered passing her another dress.

Kelsey groaned in response and looked at the dress. It looked fine and not bad at all. In fact, it looked like a dress that she might consider wearing. She took it out of its hanger and tried it on. She zipped the zipper up and came out of the change room only to hear Ella's squeal.

"What?" Kelsey asked her worriedly.

"That's it! That's the perfect dress!" She practically screamed. She asked her to twirl around and when she did, another squeal came out of her lips. "You are totally wearing that tonight. And of course, with this." Ella said handing her a pair of high heels. "Now go and change! We have to go if you wanna go for lunch." She demanded as Kelsey quickly changed back to her clothes. Gosh, was she starving.

After Ella and Kelsey finished grabbing some lunch, they made their way to Ella's boyfriend's condo.

"Are you sure I'm not intruding?" Kelsey asked her warily.

"Don't worry about it. Lance is a really nice guy." She assured her as Ella tapped her card on the censor and the button turned from red to green. She opened the door and let Kelsey come in first before her. "Babe!" Ella called out as a tall muscular guy came out of a room wearing just sweatpants.

"Hey babe." He greeted pecking her lips. Kelsey was blushing furiously from seeing just a hot guy without any shirt on. He had six packs and toned arms. "Oh, I didn't know we have a visitor." He said glancing at me.

"Oh, babe, this is Kelsey, Mason's fiancée." Ella announced as Kelsey and Lance shook hands.

"Nice to meet you. Wow, Mason's a lucky guy." He said shooting her a friendly smile. "I'm sorry, I should go change. I was working out and I wasn't expecting any visitors."

"Sorry I didn't call you first, babe. I just need a place to prepare Kelsey for her date tonight." Ella apologized sweetly.

"Alright, you two knock yourselves out. I'll go for a quick shower and prepare you girls some snacks right after." He said as he went back to the room he came out of.

"See, isn't he amazing?" Ella asked when Lance was out of their sight.

"He seems really nice." Kelsey honestly said. Ella told her to make herself feel at home and she sat on the couch by the living room and waited for Ella to return. When she did, she was carrying a make-up kit and Kelsey's eyes widened in horror.

"What are you planning on doing?" She questioned with furrowed eyebrows.

"Relax, just light make-up, I promise." Ella said as Kelsey nodded hesitantly.

"You'll be thanking me right after." She grinned widely and started working her magic on Kelsey.

As time went on, Kelsey felt like she was sitting on the couch for hours and she was begging Ella if she could finish up so she could stand up because she could no longer feel her legs.

"Just 5 more minutes." Ella stated as Kelsey groaned in agony.

"Babe, I think you should give Kelsey a rest. Besides, it's been an hour and a half already. Why don't you take a break and eat? I baked some tarts and cookies." Lance announced as he settled a plate of sweets on the centre table.

"Fine, but eat carefully, Kelsey. Don't ruin your make-up." She warned her as Kelsey grunted in response and grabbed a cookie.

"This is really good." Kelsey said with her mouth full as she savoured the taste.

"If you are going to go through becoming Mason's fiancée, you should consider some rules." Ella started. "Rule number one, don't speak when your mouth is full." She noted and Kelsey pouted her lips in annoyance that she wasn't even allowed to eat the way she used to.

"Rule number two, make sure that you use napkins when you eat some finger-foods." Ella added as she showed Kelsey the right way. She grabbed a napkin at the table and placed a tart on the napkin and started eating the tart carefully with poise and all. "Table manners is a must in this society. They criticize every move, they see everything. Trust me, one wrong move and you'll be on the front page of all the tabloids, magazines and newspaper in the city." She warned her as Kelsey fiddled with her fingers in anxiousness.

"Thanks for the prep talk, Ella." She said sarcastically finishing the cookie and grabbing another one. "This of really delicious. Is your boyfriend a professional chef or something?" She asked. Her and her mother used to baked a lot and this cookie just had a different unique flavour to it that made it taste wonderful.

"He studied culinary arts. But he's no professional chef, he's a director." Ella answered proudly.

"Director?" Kelsey questioned as Ella nodded in response. "As in directing movies and TV shows?"

"Don't tell me you've never heard of Lance Wilson." Ella laughed but stopped when all that Kelsey gave her was a serious deadpan face. "Girl, are you serious?"

"I don't really have the time to go and watch a movie or even turn the TV on. I didn't even know who your brother was until the day I read his name on the newspaper." Kelsey honestly stated leaving Ella agaped.

"Seriously girl, you have got to get out more. Anyway, to prepare you as Mason's wife, you have to know everyone in the society. You must know every single one and what they do. All the important ones anyway." Ella announced as Kelsey took a big gulped.

"Everyone?" Kelsey whispered in astonishment, her eyes were widened in horror.

"You know what? Let's forget about what I said and continue on with your make-up. It's almost time for your date with Mason." Ella changed the subject trying to calm Kelsey down but it was too late. Now Kelsey couldn't help but think, 'What have I gotten myself into?'
