《Our Eternity : Emmett Cullen x Reader》Christmas, The Night Before

It was finally Christmas Day and we gathered at Dad's house. Bella, Edward, Emmett, Jacob, Emalie, Sue, Seth, even Leah, Dad and me. I was looking out the window at the falling snow.
"The snow is sticking." I told Emmett quietly as he walked up behind me and wrapped an arm around my waist.
"Hey, we still have today." He said softly.
Dad and Sue started to set the table for Christmas dinner. Both looked so happy.
"I'm so glad he found someone to take care of him." I said looking down at the floor.
"(Y/n), honey." Emmett said adjusting my hair. "No one's giving up here."
I looked up at him with a saddened expression.
"All right! Present time! Let's go!" Dad called. "Seth, Leah, stop eating." He chuckled.
We walked into the living room, seeing Jacob and Emalie sitting next to the tree at the base of the fireplace.
"Jake, you start. Get it going." Dad told him. Jacob happily grabbed a gift from the pile handing it to Emalie.
"What did you get me?" Seth asked his sister with a laugh.
"I'm not getting you anything." Leah said.
"Hey! No, come on, what did you get me?" He asked her again. Leah shoved him playfully.
"Well, Dad. We didn't have time to wrap your's, but this is from the four of us." Bella told him. Handing him two tickets.
"It's a five day fishing trip to Fraser River." I grinned at him. "It's for you and Sue."
"You leave tomorrow." Emmett smiled at him.
"Wow, that's really nice. Thank you." Dad shook his head looking at the tickets. "Tomorrow? I can't leave tomorrow."
"I made arrangement for you at work." Sue told him happily.
"Sneaky." Dad grinned at her. "And Extravagant." He looked at me and Bella curiously.
"And non-refundable, I'm afraid." Edward told him with a chuckle.
"Are you four trying to get rid of me?" He asked seriously. We all paused thinking maybe for some strange reason he knew more than he was letting on. "Well, it's working!" He laughed looking back at the tickets with an excited expression. Emalie giggled along with him. "Fraser river that means we'll be chasing cutthroat."

"We might even hook a rainbow or some bulls." Sue said taking a seat on Dad's lap. I smiled brightly looking between the two.
"Woman knows her trout." Dad said proudly.
I walked over and took a seat next to Emalie on the floor.
"Hello, Beautiful. Let me see." I giggled at her. She showed me her wrist which had a paracord bracelet Jacob had made her. Just like the ones we used to make each other. "Oh, did Jake make this for you?" I grinned at him.
"It's so pretty." She said with a great big smile.
"It is very pretty." I agreed.
I looked back at Emmett and we smiled at each other and then back at our beautiful daughter.
That night we set up camp in the very same field we'd been in back in June. I didn't think we'd ever have to come back to this place, let alone fight another fight here. Jacob gathered firewood and set it up in the center between us all looking at Benjamin, who had a fire blaze set in his hand. When Jacob nodded, and Benjamin threw it and the fire came to life.
"That's what I'm talking about." Jacob grinned taking a seat next to Benjamin and Tia. "A little prebattle bonfire. Telling war stories. Or just standing there like frickin' statues." Jacob shrugged.
Garrett sped over to one of the log seats that they'd laid down.
"Name any American battle. I was there." He said smugly.
"Little bighorn?" Jacob said.
"I came this close to biting Custer." He showed them with his fingers, the distance. "But the Indians got him first." Kate sped over and sat in his lap.
"Try Oleg's assault on Constantinople. He didn't win that one on his own."
"If you're talking battles, you're talking the eleven years' war. No one does rebellion like the Irish." Liam one of the Irish members said.
"You lost the Eleven Years' war." Garrett said raising an eyebrow.
"Aye, but it was one hell of a Rebellion." He nodded happily.

"When we ruled, everything came to us. Prey, diplomats, favor seekers. Such was our power. But we never put our white hats and called ourselves saints." Vladimir told the group that had now sat down.
"We were honest about what we were." Stephan said.
"We sat still for a very long time. We didn't notice we were beginning to petrify."
"Perhaps the Volturi did us a favor when they burned our castles."
"We've been waiting 1500 years to return that favor." Vladimir finished.
I had taken Emalie to the tent we had set up for her so she could sleep, plus I needed to speak with her about the plan for tomorrow. One of them had to know and I needed to be able to say goodbye. Emmett took Carlisle away from the fire and spoke to him alone.
"I can't help thinking all these people are putting themselves in danger because I fell in love with a human." Emmett admitted.
"You found your mate. You deserve to be happy." Carlisle assured him.
"But at what cost?" He looked at him seriously. "I was never the serious one. Always taking things for granted and look where we ended up."
"Every single person here had something to fight for. I certainly do." Carlisle looked around at every single Cullen member. Emmett glanced into the tent that Emalie and I laid in together.
"Carlisle. I've never thanked you." Emmett said suddenly after a moment. Carlisle looked at him curiously. "For this extraordinary life."
They smiled at each other, and hugged one another.
In the tent I laid with Emalie. I pulled out two small boxes that were to be her Christmas gifts.
"Emma?" I called to her softly. She looked up at me, and sat up from laying on my chest.
"Yea, mom?"
"I didn't get to give you my Christmas gift earlier. I wanted to wait until it was just us. So, here. Open these up." I smiled softly at her. Her face lit up and she opened the first present.
"Wow, it's so beautiful." Emalie said admiring the rose bangle bracelet in her hands.
"Aunt Rosalie gave that to me for my birthday when I turned 18. It's a family heirloom, you could call it. She was never able to have any kids, so I thought it was only right to bestow it to you." I brushed her hair from her face.
"Thank you." She beamed. Emalie opened the other gift after putting on the bracelet.
She held the golden locket in her hands, admiring it. I showed her how to open it and it revealed the two pictures. One of our little family. Emmett and I both smiling down at her, while she looked up at us. The other a picture of her, Bella and Edward together laughing. I loved that picture so much. She looked curiously to the back seeing the French words.
"It means, "More Than My Own Life." That's how much your Dad and I love you." I explained sweetly. She sniffled and leaned into me and I hugged her tightly. "Emalie. Tomorrow I'm going to need you to stay with Jacob, no matter what. Even if I tell him... that he has to take you somewhere..." I whispered to her softly. She still had tears in her eyes and she looked up at me in sadness. "Hey, baby, it's all right. You're gonna be safe. Always." I explained softly as I held her close to me.
I took in every aspect of that moment. Every moment with her, her smell, her face. I thought of nothing else but the sweet little girl in my arms. Already mourning what I hadn't even lost yet, or what I wasn't even sure I'd lose. But with the way thing's were pointing, it appeared as though, this would be my last night with my daughter.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
