Damn I didn't get home until real late. My pops had me up and down running around tryna get things together for the church. We was supposed to be having a huge thanksgiving dinner and somehow he told the pastor he wanted to do it at his house. I knew madd people were coming so I offered for us to just do it at the restaurant cause his house wasn't gonna fit the entire church congregation. Putting my keys to the door and entering the house, I saw Khia on the couch eating a bowl of ice cream. This girl stay eating things at weird times. She smiled real hard when I came in and my heart felt warm. This girl still gives me goosebumps til this day & it's only been a year.
"Hey babe",I said kissing her on her lips.
"Hey where you been all day? I didn't get a text or call back."
"And you not mad about that? You sick?",I said feeling her forehead.
"No cause I know your busy,"she said laughing, "and I found this." She showed me the box with her ring in it. I knew better than to leave that there where she would find it. I smiled and said, "that's a promise ring I was gonna give you this morning",I lied to cover up my proposal cause I knew this wasn't the proper way to ask her. Ima have to go all out and buy her another ring for the proposal since she ruined this one.
"But I already have one. The one for my birthday",she said lifting her hand to show me.
"It's a replacement babe",I forgot I got her a ring for her birthday.
"Oh",she said looking at her hand and still smiling and being grateful. That's what I liked about her. She was content with whatever I gave her.

"Thank you baby",she said running up to hug me.
"Your welcome bae. I gotta tell you somethin",I said while putting it in her hand.
"Yeah."
"We spending thanksgiving with the church this year."
"Oh...ok. Why?",she asked.
"Cause my family offered to do it at their house but I knew it wouldn't be enough room so I offered up the restaurant."
"Oh okay",she said shrugging and sitting back down on the couch.
"What's that all about?",I said taking a seat next to her.
"It's cool. I don't have a problem with it. This is my first thanksgiving...I don't normally count that day as a actual holiday."
"Why not? It's nice to chill with fam and friends."
"What fam?",she said to me. I looked at her and she really had no idea what this holiday was about.
"You never spent thanksgiving with your mom?"
"No. It was a regular day. My mom needed overtime so she works that day anyways."
"So you never celebrated thanksgiving",I said to her.
She shook her head no and my heart was sinking for her.
"You wanna spend it with me?"
"I don't really have choice do I?",she said laughing.
"You do. You could chose to stay here or come with me."
"I just don't see the point of thanksgiving."
"It's a special day to thank God."
"Shouldn't you thank him everyday?",she had a point.
"Yeah but it's a special day to thank him and be with family. Don't you see those movies when everybody is gathered around the table?"
"No",she said coldly.
"Ight So I'll show you what I mean if you come with me."
"I'll go but I don't see what the hype is all about."

"That's your opinion and your entitled to that bae",I said kissing her on the cheek.
"I never had what you have so I can't relate."
"You'll have everything I have because your with me."
"I guess."
"You gotta open up if you want it",I caressed the side of her face.
Khia was not a average type a girl but her background was so dark and lonely that it makes me wanna show her the light in my world. That's what draws me to her so much.
"I'm gonna go shower",she said smiling at me and I smacked her booty as she walked by.
I listened a attentively for her to go into the bathroom so I could make a call to Marcus real quick.
He answered and said, "man I was in the middle of putting it down on shorty right now. This better be good."
I busted out laughing and said, "I need a plan B. Khia found the ring man."
"Where your dumb a.. left it?"
"Where I hid it this morning. I forgot to move it. She had to be looking through my stuff to find it."
He laughed and said, "Ight Ight So when was you gone propose?"
"Thanksgiving sounds like a nice time to do it cause fam and friends and my church gone be there."
"My nigga you gone have to buy another ring before thanksgiving then."
"Damn."
"You don't got the money?"
"Money ain't never the problem. I can't just go out and buy her a ring. It gotta be better than the one I got her."
"Yea. You got two days to find one."
"Where I'm gonna have the time? And idk what ring she'd like."
"Who helped you pick out the one she got?"
"Ebony. And ain't no way in hell I'm bout to her for help. I'd rather ask Jen and Ana."
"They just met Khia so they wouldn't know her like eb do. Put your pride aside and call her up."
"I can't believe this the best advice you got man."
"Look man you ain't had many choices to chose from. You either chose a ring yourself or contact eb."
"Ight man I'll think about it",I said hanging up. I put my hand to my head and scrolled through my contacts to find eb phone number. I thought about texting her but I couldn't. And I damn sure wasn't about to call her.
"Babe your coming to bed?",Khia said distracting me.
"Yeah babe. I'm coming", I told her.
"You know I can't sleep without you next to me."
I looked at her and locked my phone. I'll just make a stop by eb house tomorrow cause right now she the last person I'm thinking about. Khia kissed me passionately and pinned me on the wall.
"What was that for?", I asked her.
"For being an amazing man to me."
I smiled and kissed her from her neck down to her navel.

Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.
