As I walked back to the lobby, my phone rang and it was my mom. I didn't even answer and sent her straight to voicemail.
"Hey",i heard. I looked up and it was trey. What the hell was he doing here?
"What do you want Trey like What?",i said real agitated.
"Are you okay?",he asked.
"My dad and my man is locked up right now so no I'm not okay",i said rolling my eyes. I sat on the bench and he sat next to me.
"Why are you even here? And why you care?",I told him.
"I followed one of the cop cars & I'm just real concerned about you."
"Ha i wonder why? Shouldn't you be concerned about your girl ebony?"
"Her and I weren't serious. I dumped her."
"Your specialty. Breaking hearts as usual",I spat at him rolling eyes cause I didn't need this right now.
"Im gonna chill out for a min though. I wanna change that."
"Okay So remind me why your here again?",I said totally ignoring his sobb story.
"Real question is why your here? You not the type a girl to get into trouble with law enforcement so wasup with you?"
I turned my head and looked out the window. It was starting to get dark and I didn't know what I was gonna do but I needed to release Santiago out before his family finds out. Only way I could do that is if I tell the cops what really went down and why he had a gun pointed to my father's head.
"How much is his bail?",trey said.
I turned to him and said, "he has money to bail himself out if he wanted to. So no thanks",i said.

"So why he still in the cell?"
"Cause If me",i said putting my hand to my head. I was starting to get a bad headache and trey sitting here talking nonsense to me, wasn't helping.
"What's on your mind?"
"Don't you have a case to go win or something?",I asked him.
"I'm glad you acknowledged the fact that I take W's in my cases",he said with a smirk.
"But seriously wasup? What really went down in the house?",he asked.
"Santiago was dropping me home and that's the first time he was gonna officially meet my dad but it was on bad terms. So they talked and exchanged some words and got into a big fight."
"Nah something had to be said that flipped homeboy off to put a gun to your dad head",Trey said. As a lawyer, he knew when I wasn't telling the whole truth or not.
"My dad said something like now he has me all to himself."
"What's that supposed to mean?",he said observing me. Trey used to be my best friend but I never even told him that I was molested when I was younger.
"My dad used to molest me when I was little and he just recently got out of jail and almost tried to do the same thing like two weeks ago."
"Damn. Why I never knew this?"
"No one knew",I said looking at my hands.
"To be honest, i would've pulled that trigger. I'm sorry you went through that."
"I'm sorry I went through it too. Wish I had the chance to stop it."
"You do. Take him to court I'll represent you",Trey said looking at me.
"That's my blood. That's my dad."

"That ain't ya dad Khia if he hurting you. A father protects his child. Especially since you a girl, you should be his prized possession. You don't deserve to get hurt like that",he said. I looked at him and he seemed sincere.
"I'm just scared cause he has people behind him."
"And so do you. You got your mom, I know she'll agree to you taking him to court in a heartbeat. You got lil dude, as much as I hate his guts he doing right by you & doing what your dad should've done in terms of protecting you. You still got me, like I said, I'll represent you and your case is a easy win for me. They'll keep your pops behind bars for good",Trey explained.
"You put up a good argument",I said evaluating his points.
"It's up to you Khia. From what I remember, your one of the smartest girls I know. From what I've seen, you know your worth. So I know you will make the right decision at the end of the day",he said.
"What's in it for you?",I asked him.
"Nothing. I owe you to be honest. I respect you and your relationship so I give you my word that I won't cross no boundaries."
"Okay. I need a card if we gonna keep this professional",I said. He got up and smiled.
"You should have my number."
"That's if it wasn't blocked on my phone",I said.
He pulled his card out of his pocket and said, "anytime you need me, just give me a call."
"Only thing I'll need you to do is to win this case."
"I Can already tell you now, you already won",he said reaching for a hug but I stopped him and gave him a handshake instead. He chuckled and made his way to the door. I put his card in my back pocket and gathered my thoughts together to tell the officers what went down at the house. Here goes nothing.
Santiago
Felt good to be out them dusty cells. I been here since morning and it was now 10. I signed out and gave the lady at the door my name so she could give me my things in a zip lock bag. I saw Khia with her head in her lap. Not sure if she was sleeping or crying. I knew it took a lot of her to tell the officers the truth. I squared down to her and lift her head up. Her eyes were red and tears streamed down her face. Her nose was red and running so I asked for a box of tissues and wiped her nose.
"It's ok baby. You did the right thing",I said hugging her. She sniffled a little bit and said, "taking him to court is the right thing?"
I looked at her confused. I didn't think that was the decision she was willing to take now.

This Used to be About Dungeons
This Used to be About Dungeons is a comfy slice-of-life adventuring story that occasionally features dungeons. Updates Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Mostly it's about walking in the woods with a friend, looking for mushrooms to put in your soup, or haggling with the guy selling squash, or taking care of a neglected garden. It's putting some jam on shortbread biscuits. And yes, sometimes you go down into the dungeons with your friends, and you kill monsters there, or disarm traps, but when you come out, you realize you've found the perfect magic item to give to one of the local kids that helped you out when your cat was sick. Look, the dungeons are always going to be there, and sometimes you need to make a journey to one of the Spirit Gates, or make a pilgrimage with the local Cleric of Symmetry to a holy shrine. Your tour through the local dungeons can wait. You'll have rivalries with other groups, and find some dungeon eggs that need to be carefully incubated in case they turn out to be something valuable, and help a friend to build a fishing weir. There's a big world out there, a mostly tame place with lots of magic, and even more to do and see. Join me, won't you?The cover image is Morning Sunlight Effect, Eragny, by Camille Pissarro.

Holographic panels appeared at a mere thought, defining each living being in numbers, determining their classes, and changing their very selves. The Last Marshal
Weird West Fantasy Noir Once the Republic Marshals brought order to the chaotic lands along the Frontier, facing dangers both human and supernatural with ancient wisdom and a six-gun —but that was a long time ago. Destroyed by conspiracy and betrayal, all that remains of that secretive order is one nameless man on a trek though the West seeking revenge on the woman he blames for the Marshals' fall and his disgrace. When a visitor from our world joins him on his journey, they together must confront the horrors of a strange land, the mysteries of the past and the real meaning of their quest for justice. The world of Tellus is what 19th Century Earth would have looked like if the stories of Poe, Ambrose Bierce, Lovecraft and William Hope Hodgeson were real. History in this world moves slower. The old faiths persist and civilization never conquered the dark corners of the map, at least not without being inextricably changed. Technology and culture takes a little longer to evolve in this land, as people here tend to spend more time pursuing their elaborate revenge plots or trying to avoid being the next sacrifice to the Outer Gods rather than advancing science or statecraft. Imagine Cormac McCarthy by way of Edgar Rice Burroughs, though a little less testosterone-drenched than that description would imply. Three caveats: First, there are deep mysteries here, including how such a world came to be and who controls it. Second, this world is not wholly unconnected from our own. There is a historical point of divergence, but in the distant past. To paraphrase Twain: history in this world is not a repeat of our own, but it does often rhyme. And finally, this is not a setting that lends itself to happy endings.

A Crone's Trade
Latgalay lusts for beauty, power. When her tribe’s raid is repulsed, and when a wizard counter attacks, Latgalay seizes power. But there is a cost: her soul. Setting is in an alternate reality during the Roman incursion of Britania. Latgalay is from an embellished tribe of Picts, there are Spirits, Magic, and some pretty dark shit. I wrote this one back in 2015, when I was in a completely different headspace. Like, seriously. Dark. I've gone through and edited some of the worst of it out, but the tone is still there.

The Wild Touch
The world of Delmathar has many conflicts and plots that span over the whole world and even into the war torn oceans. That’s not even taking into account that the world is a candidate in the Realm wars… but that’s a story for another day. Instead we will follow the story of how a goddess’s botched attempt of using a weak earth soul to make powerful Grafter for her mother, ends up empowering an unsuspecting little boy. The boy who is called Nosal Brownwhisker, who happens to be a peaceful little buttonless-shirt loving little Capyban. And as the Brownwhisker family tries to juggle their everyday lives on their monster ranch and hiding little Nosal’s secret, more and more developments keep popping up in the village of Pancreedy that makes life more.. interesting. Author’s notes:This is my first fiction and I understand it will suck. Hopefully you will find it to be enjoyable enough to hang around. There’s not going to be any epic world-ending fights or any stuff like that, just some shenanigans generally with the story progressing very slowly as it changes from many viewpoints. The world of Delmathar may seem funky for now so I will promise a glossary every 15 chapters. The wild touch will be updated at least twice a week, with me having no backlog of chapters. So if I get mobbed at work or get sick I will let you know in my notes on a short chapter. I hope you enjoy, and thank you for the people who support me, give me encouragement and pointers.
