Today was a pretty day outside but I had no plans on a Saturday evening. So I decided to clean up around the house and afterwards watch reruns of being MaryJane all day. After finding out I got a 90 on my test, I treated myself by relaxing and not touching a single book. All the sudden my phone rang next to me. "Hey",i answered knowing it was Santiago.
"Hey babygirl. What you up to?",he asked.
"Nothing just chillin."
"Ight Im throwin a lil pool party at my house today since my folks aren't home. You wanna come?"
"Sure since I'm not doing anything here",I said. He said he'll pick me up in 15 mins so I got off the couch and slugged myself up to my room. I tried to search for my two-piece bathing suit but I couldn't find it so I settled for my patterned one piece swim suit and did my make up. I brushed my baby hairs down as usual and I applied baby oil to my body. I was kinda conscious about my baby stretch marks on the side of my booty so I wore a pair of jean shorts with my bathing suit. I let my braids down and waiting for a call from Santiago. I haven't told him yet about trey and I's situation and I wasn't sure if I was gonna tell him or not to be honest. Suddenly he was outside cause I heard the doorbell ring. I opened the door to find him standing on my porch with a white dress shirt and khaki shorts. Santiago was black but he dressed like a real white boy which was kinda new to me and I liked it.
"Hey",i said hugging him. He kissed me on my lips and said ,"hey beautiful."
He walked me out to his car and we were on our way to his house. While driving he had a hand on the steering wheel and his free hand on my thigh. I didn't mind it. I'm glad he was feeling that comfortable with me. When we got to the party, I made myself comfortable by the poolside and sat at the end of it. I looked around and it was nothing but hispanics and couple people from school. Although I wanted to spend time with Santiago, I kinda felt out of place most of the time. He came up behind me and wrapped his arms around me. "You okay?",he asked me. "Yeah",I said looking into his eyes. "You wanna go inside for a min?",he asked over the loud music.

"Yeah."
The party was pretty lit but maybe I just wasn't in a partying mood. I just wanted to chill and the person I wanted to do that with is trey. I missed him.
"I feel like your off today",Santiago said reading me.
"No I'm not. What makes you say that?"
"Body language is everything."
"I guess",I said. He sat next to me on the living room couch and looked a bit worried.
"What's wrong?",he asked me.
"Nothing. Why?"
"Somethin just don't feel right. Did I do somethin to you?"
"On the contrary",I started but stopped talking because I decided against telling him of my infidelity.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing. You think we're met to be together?",I asked.
"Why is that a question babe? You don't want to do this anymore?"
"It's just I'm not comfortable or used to calling you cute names and doing stuff boyfriend and girlfriend do."
"Baby we just started going out. Give it some time. Are you not attracted to me?"
"I am."
"So give it time. Trust me, you'll fall in love with me in no time",he said with a smirk and caused me to smile. He was such a cornball and knew the right stuff to say. He'll turn any sad moment into a happy one.
"Love is better when you don't force it",he said looking at me. I smiled and said, "okay."
He cupped my face and kissed me passionately.
"Now lets go out and enjoy the party. Don't give me a reason to throw you in the pool",he said pulling my hand to get up.
I laughed. "I wish you would. I didn't put all this makeup on to get thrown in the pool",I said.
"Better hope its waterproof babygirl",he said holding my hand. I laughed and followed him out into the backyard to the pool. I sat on the edge of the pool while he went to grab us some food. Music was playin, everyone was in their element. Some were dancing, some were in the pool, and some of the guys was gathered next to the grill. I knew it didn't take that many guys to grill a couple burgers and hot dogs. I looked to where Santiago was and just admired how sexy he looked with his shirt off. He caught me looking and winked at me. Swear he's such a goofball. After the party, it was getting real dark out and most of the people started to leave.

"Aight man. I'll holla at you later",I could hear his friend Juan say. I got up by the poolside and sat in a chair. Santiago sat next to me. "Your such a bad boy",I said to him.
"Why you say that?",he said cocking a bottle of seagram to his mouth.
"You threw a party while your parents was gone."
"Sure did. You enjoyed yourself?"
"Yeah I actually did. Thanks to you."
He kissed me on the lips and said,"cmon it's getting cold out."
He led me inside and walked me to his room. "This house is huge",I said looking around.
"Something like that."
"The restaurant helps afford this?"
"Nah. My parents have actual jobs babygirl. The restaurant couldn't even pay for the electricity bill",he said laughing.
"Sorry my room is kinda messy",he said stacking all of his books to a corner of his bed.
"How'd you find time to plan a party and study?",I asked him while making myself comfortable on his bed.
"I had time in the morning and this party wasn't planned. Juan and i just thought about callin a few people to come over."
"I bet half those people you don't even know."
"You right",he said laughing and changing into a white wife beater. I looked around and saw pictures of him and his friend near a beach. "Oh that's my homie from back home. We still talk til this today",he said.
"That's cool that you try to keep in contact with them."
"Yeah definitely. Family is everything babygirl. My parents and I go back home every year around September to visit my dad's side of my family and mom's side."
"Funny that you say that. Do they get along well with each other?"
"Not necessarily but they suck it up for the sake of my mom and dad."
"What if your parents don't like me?"
"That's the second time you've asked me that babe. They'll like you."
"And if they don't, we break up?"
"Why would you think that?"
"You just said family is everything."
"Ok let's say they don't like you, that don't mean we break up."
"But you'll be unhappy and want to break up."
He looked at me for a min and chuckled.
"Your ex must've did a real number on you",he said turning on the tv and laying down flipping through channels.
"He did. So you should change that."
"Oh I plan to. He turned a gorgeous girl into a insecure one."
"Im not insecure",I said feeling offended.
"You are Khia and that's not cool cause your badd as hell",he expressed.
"Thanks?",I said wondering if it was a compliment or a insult.
"Come here",he said pulling me to him.
"What."
"You know you make the Dominican mamis jealous of you when they see you. They even more jealous when they see you with me so you ain't got nothing to be insecure about." He made me blush even though it wouldn't be able to show through my thick skin. I caressed the side of his face.
"This is new",he said. I leaned in and kissed him on his lips first, then went for tongue. He ran his hand down my spine and threw the remote on the other side of the bed.

The Granddaughter of Time
Teresa Hargrove was okay with giving up. She knew the Earth was doomed and there was nothing to be done about it. What she was not okay with was the Future, an enigmatic woman nearly fanatical in her devotion to making a difference, dragging her along — seemingly, to prove her wrong. It turns out though that the Future is very hard to understand. This story contains heavy themes, including mental illness, existential crisis and death. However, I still tried to eventually convey a message of hope. Several mythical and metaphorical beings in the shape of humans will appear in most chapters. However, they are not meant to be of a specific ethnicity or social background and are instead perceived differently by people around them. For your reading pleasure, feel free to imagine them any way you’d like, even if your imagination contradicts descriptions from the story. Enjoy!~
