《The Untended Endearment》Hidimba - 14

Before Hidimba continues the story further, a stroke of thunder broke both ladies ' trance. Harshini jolted up in fear while Hidimba looked towards the sky and sighed. Seem like everything in their lives and place is changed now except the weather; it is still the same. She realized the heavy rains fall soon. She rose from the stairs and gave her hand to Harshini to help her in getting up.
"Come, little one, we should reach home as soon as possible. The storm is approaching our homes soon. You have to stay safe." They reached home, instructing others in the way to remain safe. Both the ladies started preparing for dinner while Hidimba collected dry woods, fruits, and corn too for upcoming. After dinner sitting near the fireplace, Hidimba starts to tell the remaining story.
After turning, I glare at him hard before whisper yelling," Are you nuts? What did you do? Why you always have to be impulsive at the wrong time? There is a fine line between bravery and stupidity. Sometimes we have to take one step back and do nothing is far braver and do something and risk the lives of everyone. It is one such moment. So stop playing hero and do as I say."
"We are warriors; we never run away from troubles. We never show our back to enemies. You helped us in finding food and shelter this is the time to pay you back. We do not keep favors; It is against our morals. We do not compromise on Dharma.", His words made me laugh hard. I shake my head on his wordings.
"Is everyone outside live the same life in an invisible bubble based on misconceptions, false perceptions, or lies? Or you are exceptions." I asked in my fit of laughter.
What nonsense are you talking about? What is there so much to laugh at? We were taught by an efficient teacher, unlike you. So you do not understand such things. The elder twin of them spoke this time while others also supported him. Their mother looked annoyed at me with my constant reasoning.
"True, you are right. I am a very average uneducated tribal girl. I do not know such huge words and especially Dharma; No one in kamyaka knows this. In the name of Dharma, we were taught the truth, honesty, loyalty, selfless giving, and true love. These are five laws of nature; this is the ultimate Dharma. For us dharma is to speak and stand for what is right without worrying about Dharma-Adharma. But these are not final because in the course of survival nature too changes its laws from time to time so do we."

"It is not the complete Dharma of human life; it is just a part of it. Dharma has a very vast concept; it is not something we learn or understand in a day." Dharmaraj spoke in his ultimate calm demeanor.
"Exactly I know I never say I know Dharma, like I told no one here knows Dharma. But are you sure you guys know the complete real Dharma? Your teacher who taught does he is aware of true Dharma?"
"Mind your words; you are talking about one of the best teachers of Aryavrat and our Guru. We do not take any insult on him. You are a woman; we are following morals does not mean you will speak nonsense." This time it was the third of them. I just shake my head at their unawareness of nature's basic laws that are change and acceptance.
"I apologize I do not mean any insult. I was saying the basic fact. Never stick to a basic norm of dharma otherwise, you will at a point be part of an Adharma; or to stick to one aspect of Dharma you will leave the other aspect breaking it. Try to learn acceptance and change. Who knows, come a time when the first thing you will do is to compromise your morality.
"That day will never come. A warrior never compromises on his morals and stakes his Dharma." The second of them yelled.
"Never say never, big man. Time has various efficient methods to prove us wrong. There is nothing that remains forever time too. No one knows what will happen tomorrow, so do not think you know it all. "
"Enough it is necessary to have a debate at every point. Can you all see this is not the right time for arguing?" Their mother said frustrated at our bickering while giving me an indecipherable look. Maybe she was also thinking how uncultured I am.
"Fine, you all are hell-bent on playing a hero makes me look like a damsel in distress; follow me then. Tonight is for sure going to be very entertaining for the people of Kamyaka."
"Is this important to do? She is fully capable of handling things. No worry, she will do great. We should leave as per her instructions." The youngest one of them spoke with a worried voice.

"From when you start acting like a coward dear brother? you trust your elder brother? I will defeat him relax."
"I am not worried about the fight; I am sure you will win. I am worried about what will follow next. This decision of ours will change the whole course of action."
"You and your intuition twin; no worry, everything would be alright. Now come we have a fight waiting to witness." One of the twins spoke, patting his brother back. He was again looking at me with that undecipherable looks. Tonight I will ask him about the reason for this look.
"Hurry up the king must have been angry with the delay. The leader of the troop requested impatiently."
Finally, we followed them, which led us to the place where my brother was already waiting for us, surrounded by the whole Army, ministers, and the citizens of Kamyaka. I was surprised at this. I guess this was his answer to my threat of removing him from the throne. He wanted to prove to me where the power lies. I looked in his direction only to find him already looking at me with an evil smirk.
"Ahh, welcome back sister. What took you guys so long? I was waiting for so long. You know how boring it was; now that you are back, I am at ease. Look like we have few guests to entertain; Welcome humans in the dynasty of Hidimb, Kamyaka."
I shied at his pride and arrogance," Something is wrong for sure. My brother must have something big planned in store otherwise he won't put up such a show."
"We people of Kamyaka welcome the Descendants of the Kuru clan loving grandsons of Gangaputra Bhism. We waited for so long to have a member of the Kuru clan among us. I hope my army doesn't hurt you in any way and brings you all with respect." He continued with disgust in his voice.
My eyes shot up towards them with this new piece of information while my brother's smirk grew wider. "Ahh this is the reason of such display. They are the Kuru the most hated clam from the people of Kamyaka. It looks like; I was not the only one with a secret and betrayal. I appreciate their bravery to step their foot in Kamyaka also mocked me and blamed me of betrayal. Now I know I have nothing to say to defend them because everyone here despises the Kuru clan; no matter how much they love me, in this matter, they will stand on my brother's side. Look like I was about to lose the battle before starting."
I glared them with anger while they are looking everywhere else than me. My brother took a few steps towards me and spoke in my ears, "See, I gave you a choice, but you decided to betray me for them. Now, look where you stand. Poor sister, I am feeling sad for you."
I chuckled at his mocking. "Nice move brother, I am impressed. You already put me on the back foot before the game started. But I am not lost yet. I replied confidently, but I was full of anxiety and nervousness.
You will soon only the formality left for it. He answered before taking steps back towards the throne.
Hidimba stopped his story looking at Harshini's sleepy face.
"Sleep little one, it is already late. Now you are warm enough for the night so lie down. I am with you only so I will tell you the remaining part tomorrow." She patted her head and kept her eyes on the dancing flames. Harshini drifted into sleep. Outside, nature turned the gentle breeze into a heavy storm, ready to destroy everything that came in its way.

Free Your Mind
A journey through the mind can be a mixture of the good, the bad, the pure, and the evil. Free Your Mind is a collection of poems and short stories that I've written over the years. As of now, this book is still in progress, but I've planned to release at least 25 to 30 chapters minimum for Free Your Mind. Hopefully you enjoy reading through the works already published for this book, and I hope you'll stick around for what's to come in the future. If you have any comments, ideas, critiques, etc. please let me know! I'm always open to what people have to say about my work. Free Your Mind is a way for me to dabble into releasing my writings for the public to read. And hopefully, if all goes decent with this book, I'll continue to upload different works alongside this. Note: Currently the cover work for Free Your Mind isn't mine. I plan to upload an original design once I've completed the chapters for this book.
