《The Untended Endearment》Hidimba 9

This night was the darkest of all in her life. Continuous lighting and thunder made everyone realized that the storm is approaching. Everyone collected the dry woods and fruits along with dry grasses to make the bed before the rain got started. We lit the dry woods arranged bed and sit around the fire eating berries and talking merrily. Heavy rain was pouring outside making even birds and animals hide in their shelters.

I love rain so much but that rain was scaring me. I was feeling an unusual fear creeping in me for no reason. Sahdev was eerily quiet which is weird as he didn't speak a word since evening despite the nagging of his twin. I made a mental note to ask him about that.

After dinner, everyone decided to sleep as the night started getting colder. I too tried to sleep for a very long time but failed to do so eventually give up in the end. I was feeling restless so decided to go out and watch the rain pouring thinking that maybe the sound of these falling drops from the sky made this weird feeling go and help me feel better.

My mother used to say that rain is not only the source of life but relief also. It washes the pain and heartache. If you are burning in your pain and encounter rain do one thing let face towards the sky and let the raindrop fall on your face freely. It washes the pain and heartache filling you with a sense of relief. The rhythmic sound of raindrops calms the scared mind.

Today I needed this peace the most. I quietly wake up, leave the cave, and come outside to enjoy the rain. During this whole happening, I felt someone's eyes on me. It was like someone is watching me or better keeping an eye on me. I shrugged my instinct thinking this must be the ploy of my tired mind. I was standing under a banyan tree, lost in my thought enjoying the rain when someone covered my mouth from behind knock me out of my sense. A faint scream left my mouth before everything went out dark.

In the cave, Sahdev is awake all the time watching this whole exchange. Sometimes your uniqueness is a curse as well as your blessing. His gift of watching glimpses of the future is terrific, but this is oddly disturbing at times when he knew the upcoming but can't warn his people. This time too he knows the upcoming which is inevitable but can do nothing rather than just being a mute spectator. He was silent since evening but now his concise is not ready to listen. At last, he gave up and shake his elder brother for help.

"Bharata Bheem wake up please"

"Sahdev it's midnight just sleep and let me sleep too. I will see everything tomorrow morning."

"Bharata it will be too late till now. Wake up now please." Whisper yelled Sahdev.

"Sahdev what happened why are you waking up Bharata Bheem so frantically?" asked Arjun waking up due to Sahdev's voice.

"What are you guys doing at this hour?"Asked Yudhishthira disturbed by the noise.

"I don't know Sahdev seems worried and he is waking Bhrata Bheem continuously"

"This work is as easy as make Duryodhan love and accept us" replied Nakul laughing but stopped in midway realizing the glares on him.

"What happened why you all have not slept yet? And Nakul I will see you in the morning"

"Hidimba is missing and you guys aren't ready to listen" Sahdev replied stressed.

"What? All asked at once."

"How do you know that she is missing and since when?" Bheem asked getting worried. All can realize his worry. in the past few days, their bickering has turned more intimate. Nowadays they fight but there isn't anger and annoyance in them instead there are teases and playfulness more. Everyone can notice this change and their growing closeness but non try to acknowledge it as they know they don't have any future.

Everyone liked Hidimba and her behavior and nature. She has the confidence and grace like a true queen. But they know that she and Bheem don't belong with each other she is the daughter of nature a warrior who can die but can't bow while Bheem is the prince of Hastinapur where everyone has to behave in a specific decorum. True that they decided not to return but they are well aware that they have to return anyway with or without their own free will.

Their destiny is connected to Hastinapur in every possible way and they have to accept it. They realized that if in any case they both got married Hidimba can never accept and bend down at the patriarchal ways and rules of Hastinapur and Hastinapur will never accept her revolutionary thought and warrior attitude. Plus caste is the biggest point of Hastinapur and its system. An out-casted girl will never be accepted as the Daughter in the law of Kuruvansh. She will never get the position and respect of the queen so it's better if their relationship stays till here only.

"I am asking you something since when she is missing?" Bheem asked getting impatient.

"It's quite sometimes ago I saw her getting outside when everyone was asleep and after few minutes I heard a faint scream which made me alert that's why I decided to wake up Bhrata Bheem."

"You all wait here I will go and search her. I will bring her back safely."

"I will come with you Bhrata."

"No Arjun you should stay with mata and others for their protection I will go and get her back."

"I will be fine besides all your brothers are here and they can protect me and themselves quite well. Take Arjun with you because it's a night and the weather outside is not good." Kunti ordered them.

"As you say mata."

They went outside to search for her. That was a night where only the occasional lightning is the source of light. It was difficult to find her in this darkness and thunderous weather. They are confused about where to start in such a big and deep forest. They were talking about the possibility of her whereabouts when in the light of one thunder they saw something shiny under the big banyan tree.

When picked they realized it one of the beads of her neckpiece. They realized she was here before her disappearance. In one such light, they saw the footprints of the wet ground and decided to follow it. Their hearts are thumping in the chest making them afraid of the possibilities she may be in. The footprints led them to a cave. When they reached there and peak in the scene in front of them made them freeze at their spots.
