《Cloud 69》15:

I groaned as I pulled myself to sit up in bed. MY hand flew to my temple as I tried to relieve some of the pain. As I tried to overcome a dizzy spell, I turned to look out the window. Rain.

Getting out of bed was challenging. I had absolutely no motivation to get up; all I really wanted to do was climb back in bed and go to sleep.

To make matters worse, Luna had a free period first, so I didn't even have a ride. I sighed and stepped away from my window, figuring I should really get a move on it.

I felt sluggish today, and my head hurt too much to do anything too quickly.

"Princess, if you want a ride, I'm leaving in fifteen minutes," Carson announced as he entered my room (without knocking).

"Huh?" I asked. Carson wasn't the generous type, and never to me.

"Do you want a lift?" He asked.

"Oh, um yeah. I'll be ready."

He nodded and left the room, closing the door behind him.

I slipped on a comfy outfit, throwing a white rain coat over my shoulders, not bothering to even brush my hair. It was going to be one of those days.

I slowly made my way down the stairs, not really having the will or energy to go sit in classes all day.

"You okay, Princess?" Carson asked, breaking me from my thoughts.

I nodded, "Just tired."

He gave me a weary look, but he grabbed my hand and led me to his car.

Is anyone else getting sick of Carson's bipolar attitude towards me? Because I know I am.

"Madeline?"

I lifted my head from the desk, "Yes?"

"I don't think you're alright."

"I told you, I'm fine. I'm just tired," I groaned. This was the fourth time today Carson had asked if I was okay, and it was only second period.

"Madeline, your eyes are bloodshot, your face is pale, and last period it looked like you were struggling to not vomit."

"So?"

"So, I think you should go home."

"No," I replied, putting my head back down on my desk.

"Maddie."

"You know what I think, Carson?" I asked with newfound energy. "I think it's not of your business. I don't need a nurse or a dad ordering me around all day. Even if I was sick, which I'm not, I wouldn't need your help. So stay out of it."

"That's how you wanna do it? Fine."

Before I could process what was happening, Carson had picked me up out of my seat and carried me out of the room in the middle of class. No one even tried to stop him either, not even the teacher.

"You see, Princess," Carson started, "I know you're not feeling well because if you were, you would be fighting against me right now."

I knew he was right, but it still pissed me off. "Whatever."

Carson drove me home, and practically pushed me upstairs into my room. He waited until I was in bed before turning the lights off and leaving again.

To be honest, I don't even understand why he seemed to care so much. It's not like I was dying or anything. I just had a cold or something.

I been asleep for like three hours when I was woken up by a knock on the door. My head wasn't hurting as bad now, and I felt much better than I did earlier today. I looked outside and saw that it had stopped raining, and the sun was peeking out from behind a few large clouds.

"Come in," I called.

Dylan came into my room with a cheeky smile on his face.

"How's my sick baby girl?" He cooed, sitting down beside me and pinching my cheeks.

"Stop it," I scolded, swatting away his hands. "I'm feeling fine. I was fine at school, too."

"Hm, Carson made it seem like you were dying," Dylan laid down on the bed, letting his feet dangle off the side.

"Where is he anyways?" I asked.

Dylan shrugged, "Detention. He asked me to come check on you."

I rolled my eyes. "How was school?"

Dylan groaned, "Awful. Since you weren't in class today, Mr. Jameson paired me up with Abby. She wouldn't leave me alone, I thought I was going to die."

I laughed, "I'm sure it wasn't that bad."

"No, it was. Every time Mr. J turned in the other direction, she started blabbing my ear off about some bachelor couple the just had to end up together."

"Aw poor you," I feigned. "One of the prettiest girls in our class was talking to you during class. That must've sucked."

"You're not funny."

I rolled my eyes, "Last week you wouldn't shut up about her, and how good of a kisser she is. What's wrong with her now?"

He shrugged, "I don't know. I'm just over her. She's not that pretty anymore."

Our conversation was interrupted when another knock came from the door. Without waiting for a response, Carson walked in. He was holding Chinese takeout in one hand and ice cream in the other.

"At least you sort of knocked this time," I said, pinching the bridge of my nose.

"What is he doing on the bed with you?" Carson asked, placing the food on the table nearest the door.

"Well we were making out," Dylan responded sarcastically.

Carson went up behind Dylan, grabbed both of his legs, and yanked him off the bed.

"Ow!" Dylan shouted from the ground. Carson took the spot on the bed where Dylan was sitting.

"How are you feeling?"

I sighed, "I'm fine, Carson."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, Dad."

"Oooh," he smirked. "I like it when you call me Dad."

Dylan punched Carson in the shoulder and sat down beside him, the takeout food in his other hand. "Behave yourself," he scolded Carson.

"Oh, Maddie, you'll never believe what you missed today!" Dylan said eagerly, his whole face brightening up.

"Do I even want to know?" I contemplated, pinching the bridge of my nose.

"So, we're sitting down for lunch," Dylan started, completely ignoring my lack of enthusiasm. "And all of a sudden the L-Squad is marching up to us. It was so weird, they just sat down at our table with us and started a conversation. We were all totally weirded out, so I of course was going to ask Lana what the hell was up but then Lisa-"

"Is this story going somewhere?" I groaned.

"Yes, be patient. Anyways, when I asked Lana why they were her, she completely ignored me. Instead, she started talking to Zach. She was flirting with him and and touching him-"

"Mind you, Luna was sitting right next to him," Carson cut in.

"Right," Dylan confirmed. "And she let it slide for a few minutes too. She rolled her eyes every time Zach did or said something stupid, but she held her calm for quite a while."

"Surprising," I said. "Did it last?"

Carson laughed, "Hell no."

"After Lana touched Zach, Luna went bat-shit crazy!" Dylan gushed. "She started screaming at Lana. That's when Jason stepped in to stop her from ripping out Lana's hair."

I laughed, "Sounds about right."

Dylan stole a glance at his watch, "Ah, shit, bro. We should probably go. Now that the rain has cleared, there's no way coach is cancelling practice."

Carson nodded, "You're right. We should go."

The two of them stood up from the bed.

"Bye, Mads, I'll see you tomorrow," Dylan called, as he rushed out of the room with Carson trudging behind. When he got to the doorway, he stopped and turned around, looking me over skeptically. I rolled my eyes when he finally left and closed the door behind him.

I shut the doors to my balcony as another strike of lightning flashed across the sky. Within moments, heavy rain started to pour down.

It was only a little past 6, but the sky was already completely dark.

A quiet knock sounded from my door, followed by a whisper, "Princess?"

I rolled my eyes, "It's open."

Carson strode through, still wearing his clothes from soccer practice. Some of his hair was glued to his forehead from sweat, and the rest was standing up messily. His shirt was also tight against his body, defining every muscle and curve.

"Don't I get any props for knocking?" Carson smirked.

"Props for doing something that is common courtesy? No, no you don't," I responded.

"You must be feeling better."

"I was fine at school, I was fine before you left for practice, and I'm fine now."

He shook his head and shrugged, "If that's what you wanna believe."

I rolled my eyes, "What are you even doing in here? Go shower."

He chuckled, "I have other plans right now."

"What are these other plans you have that require you being in my room?"

Carson chose not to respond with words.

Rather, he responded by pushing me down forcefully onto my bed. He hovered above me, his Versace pendant dangling right above my nose. He stared at me for a quick second, long enough for me to catch his famous smirk. I was still in a state of shock and confusion, not understanding why I was pushed down. I wasn't given more than a second to think, before Carson swooped down and kissed me.

She was just sick. That's it.

The thought of having children, and honestly just kids in general, scares me too much to ever incorporate in a story.
