《Cloud 69》12:

"Yo, Maddie!" He whispered, loud enough to get other people to turn. I could feel his presence hovering over my shoulder.

I groaned, "Carson, I swear to God, I will punch you."

I did my best to ignore him, as I continued writing down whatever our history teacher had been saying.

"Maddie," He said again, tapping my shoulder.

"What?" I exclaimed, turning around. He was leaning over his desk, and had a devious smile on his face.

"It's Friday," he said.

"Good for you, you know the days of the week," I said, rolling my eyes.

"Whatever. Anyways, what I was gonna tell you, is that it's Friday, and I have plans. So, don't wait up."

I snorted, "When have I ever 'waited up' for you? Besides, I have plans, too."

"Okay, then," He said, casually.

"Okay, so you can sit your ass back down in your desk like a regular person and actually pay attention for once."

"Whatever, nerd."

"Wow," I said in a dry voice. "I feel so insulted."

He rolled his eyes as he slid back in his desk.

"Miss Spencer, if you're going to talk in my class, then please leave. You are clearly becoming a distraction to your classmates."

"Thank you, sir," Carson spoke up, shooting me an evil look. "She's been bothering me all class. I can't hear a word you say."

I rolled my eyes.

"Shut up Daniels. You can get out too."

His smile dropped, "But-"

"Out!"

"Okay," I said cheerily. "I've got chips, pretzels, and my A game! I'm ready."

I held up the bags, smiling at Dylan. He rolled his eyes, trying to hold back a laugh.

"Mads, I think you like Family Game Night more than my mother. And I didn't think that was possible."

I shrugged, "Well, when my parents retire and have a schedule that allows for planned weekly events, you're more than welcome to tag along."

He averted his eyes in a guilty manner, "Yeah, that's the thing."

"Dylan?"

"Well, Ian's just gotten home from college," He started.

"Choose your next words carefully."

"And Emily's bringing her new boyfriend."

"Dylan! I'm part of the family!"

He sighed, "Yeah, but you're...how do I say this? Too competitive."

"Too competitive?! I am not too competitive."

"Mads, you challenged my father to a JustDance duel after he won in poker, and over summer break, every time Ian hit you with a Draw 4 in Uno, you hit him, physically."

I rolled my eyes, "Okay, so maybe I am just a little bit competitive. But I bring personality to the game table."

"Yeah, well, Emily doesn't want that 'personality' scaring off her boyfriend."

"Tell Emily I said she can go fuck herself and now she's not getting the new gossip."

"Sorry, Mads. Next time."

I was beyond bored.

Dylan kicked me out of game night, Luna and Zach went to his grandma's, and, to be honest, I'm not sure what Jason was doing tonight, but I had a pretty good feeling I didn't want to know.

I wandered around the house aimlessly, looking for something to do. I trudged up the stairs after ransacking the fridge.

I noticed Carson's door was slightly open. I pushed it open to ease my curiosity. I had really only been in here like twice, and I've never actually looked to see what he had done with it.

The first thing I noticed was how surprisingly clean it was. Besides the one shirt hanging off the dresser, the room was spotless. He had a few colognes neatly placed on the dresser as well, all designer, of course.

"Having fun there?"

I jumped, and turned around.

Carson was laying on his bed shirtless. His legs were crossed and was intently looking at his phone.

"I, uh, hadn't realized you were here."

His eyes turned up to me with his signature smirk, "And what? You like to come into my room and poke around when I'm out?"

I rolled my eyes, "Don't flatter yourself."

"Then why are you here, now?"

"Why are you here?" I asked, ignoring his question. "I thought you had plans."

"I thought you had plans."

I huffed, "They got canceled."

"Mine, too."

"Did some poor girl finally come to her senses and realize hanging out with you is like spending an hour with an irritating, overly horny baboon?"

He rolled his eyes, "If you came in my room to insult me, the door's right there."

Despite literally being told to leave, I stood there, in the middle of his room. I didn't say anything, either, I just stood there staring at him.

"Yes?" He asked, impatiently.

"Are you bored?" I asked.

He shrugged, "I know how to keep myself occupied."

"Okay, but... what if you didn't have to?"

He sighed,"Can you just cut to whatever the hell the chase is?"

I started moving closer to the bed, which was not unnoticed by him. His eyes looked me up and down as I continued.

"Remember that time when you offered meaningless sex?"

Carson nodded, hesitantly.

"Great, let's do that," I jumped on his bed and straddled him, immediately shoving my lips onto his.

After getting over his initial shock, he was quick to start kissing me back. His hands had found their way to my hips.

It only took him a minute for him to pull away, "Wait, wait, wait."

"What?" I groaned.

"Are you sure?" He asked. "Are you really sure?"

I was about to shoot him some snarky remark, but then I saw it in his eyes. He was being sincere.

Now, this would have been a great time to reconsider my options, to say no. I could get up now, I could walk away, and we could pretend that this never happened. This would have been a great time.

"Are you really sure this is what you want?" He asked again.

"Yes."

I woke up sometime between 4 and 5 in the morning. In Carson's bed.

I really needed to get out of here. I highly doubted any of his hookups ever spent the night in his bed, and I was not going to be the first.

I slipped out of his bed quite easily. The challenge was finding all of my clothes in a pitch black room without creating enough noise to wake him up.

I found my pants and put them on. I decided to give up on finding my shirt and just leave... if I could find the door, that is.

"Stop," A raspy voice called from behind me. Fuck.

I knew I was screwed when a light turned on behind me.

"What the hell are you doing?" Carson groaned, obviously upset that I had woke him up so early in the morning. I turned around to look at him.

"Um, leaving?" I responded.

He chuckled, "I think you're missing something." He held up the shirt that I had been looking all over the room for.

I rolled my eyes and walked back over to him. But when I reached for the shirt, he yanked it away from me. I was really not in the mood for his dumb games, I just wanted to get back to my room and go back to bed.

He laughed, but held out the shirt again for me.

"Take it," Carson said.

I sighed and reached for it again, but this time, he grabbed my arm and forcefully pulled me down onto him. He grabbed the side of my face roughly, our noses barely an inch apart, forcing me look at him.

"Who said you could leave?"
