shadow told the other two that he would explain later as he was more interested in stopping sonic from bursting in to tears but sonic wanted just shadow for now and no one else luckily for him tails got a message just by looking at sonic face and pushed knuckles out with him telling him that they need some time alone and shutting the door behind them

shadow sigh in relive that they were gone as he started to talk to sonic

'sonic it not you fault you didn't know that it was going to happen'

sonic look at him making shadow feel an enormous amount of guilt when seeing sonic cry

'it doesn't change the fact that i kill them all for not knowing i'm no hero i'm no better than a villain'

shadow placed his head against sonic while holding his back to make him look him straight in the eye

'sonic listen to me your not a villain and you never will be so don't lower yourself to that you did what you had to do to save others in this time if you didn't do it you and me would not be here right now and you would of been that bastard's toy and that would also of destroyed everything that you work hard on saving....so please don't cry i will take the blame and burden with you if you want to blame me go ahead'

'no i will never blame you i would rather die than see you be killed..hic..hic and i would even do it again if it means to save you and everyone here i just wish the guilt would go away..hic awh'

shadow push sonic head to his chest fur to let him cry out rubbing his head and whispering in his ear

'shhh it alright cry it out and i'll be your shoulder to cry on and i will take on the guilt with you so don't blame yourself if it makes you feel better you can push'hit'hate me as it was my fault that you made that choice'

'NO I WON'T..HIC I REFUSE...TO..HIC'

'then if you don't blame me then you shouldn't blame yourself so please no more'

sonic cling onto shadow shoulders and cried out while shadow continue to comfort him in this way till he cried himself to sleep but shadow remained by his side till he heard a knock on the door he then went to the door and open it to see that knuckles and tails was there wanting any explanation shadow then look back at sonic who was sleeping peacefully before shutting the door behind him telling the other two to go to the canteen with him to get a coffee and have a chat about the whole ordeal.

about 45mins later:

shadow walk back in sonic room who was still sleeping while tails and knuckle was behind him as shadow just finished talking about what happen to him and sonic in Pompeii but never mention the part were sonic and him where interment with each other just in case sonic don't want anyone to know

'so sonic blaming himself for the choice he made and he even murdered memphis to save you....it going to be awhile for sonic to recover from this'

tail said as he looked down to his sleeping older brother with a sad expression but had to ask one more question to shadow

before leaving to go home with knuckles as shadow said that he would stay till sonic would recover from his injury's

'so why are you being so caring to sonic then'

'i will tell you when sonic is better till then don't think about it too much'

tail was confused and so was knuckles from shadow reply but thought it was because sonic save him and walk away to go home then shadow sat back next to sonic holding his hand then sonic just so happen to wake up and look at shadow

'shadow how long was i asleep for'

'not long go back to sleep if you are still tired i be here if you want anything'

'i don't want to sleep i want to ask about what you said when we were in the river do you still want to you know and if you really mean that you would take the guilt with me'

sonic said tiredly to shadow making him chuckle as he saw a slight blush on sonic face shadow then lean down to sonic head and kiss him on the lips then move back to look at him

'i alway say what i mean so yes i will take on the guilt with my lover'

um thanks shads but i feel a bit um..sore there so can you...wait till i'm ready for that'

sonic was now blushing madly and was being shy in front of him making shadow be amused at the face expression that sonic was doing making shadow want tease sonic more but thought against it till sonic was better and out of hospital.
