Asher was currently having a sleepover at his house with a few friends, which included Saiki, Toritsuka, Kaidou, Nendou, and Aren.
It was the weekend, so they didn't have to worry about sleeping in late or waking up early. It was pretty late at the moment; his mom had made them dinner early and already went off to bed, seeing as she had work in the morning.
The movie they were watching had just ended, so now they were searching for another to watch.
"Hey, buddy!" Nendou called out, grabbing all of their attention. "What's this movie? The case doesn't have a label."
Asher took a look at the clear case, his eyebrows raising. "Oh, that isn't a movie. My ma got that for me for Christmas... I actually haven't watched it yet.."
"Dude," Aren elbowed him, "That's kinda fuckin' rude. Why haven't you watched it."
Asher sweatdropped. "I didn't have time for the most part, and at some point I forgot about it.."
"And what's got you so busy?"
Asher leaned against Saiki with a grin. "You know what I've been occupied with, Saiki," he practically purred.
"Get off of me-"
"Then lets watch it now so you won't forget again!" Nendou cheerfully suggested, not waiting for an answer as he switched the other movie out for the gifted cd.
"Isn't it personal, though? Maybe he should just watch it on his own.." Kaidou spoke hesitantly.
"Maybe it's porn, we can't pass that up-!"
The brunette punched the purple haired boy in the back of his head. "Shut the fuck up, you dunce. My mom would never give me porn... Anyways, I don't mind watching it with you all here, don't worry Kaidou."
And with that, Asher took the controller and started it. Everyone in the room was a bit curious as to see what it was, even Saiki. He's never seen someone receive a CD as a gift, unless it was a game or movie.

It took a minute to load before it started. The camera fumbled for a moment before steadying itself, showing a man with black hair and green eyes. "This shit.."
"Do you need help?" a woman questioned in the background.
"No, it's fine, I got it.." his words were true, because the camera stood still as the man slowly sat back in his chair, staring into the lens. "Right, okay. I've got it. Ash, hi..."
The man looked at the camera silently before leaning his head back with a groan, "Why the hell am I doing this..?"
"C'mon, babe, you know why. It would be good for him, anyways, so just finish it."
The ravenette scoffed, sitting straight once more. "Right... So, you know me. I'm your dad- you probably don't know much about your family, but I come from a long line of people who have an extremely weak immune system. But I know you'll grow up to be strong, just like your mom, so you don't have to worry.
I don't plan on giving this to you... any time soon, actually. I hope not, at least. But, Asher, I want you to know that no matter what, no matter what happens, you're my son. You are Giovanni Mortelli's son. And, I'm not trying to show off to anything but.." he slowly held up his arm, flexing his muscle.
There was a small snicker heard from behind the camera, making Gio grin. "Anyways. Forget about your other family, they're assholes. Me, and your mom, and your baby sister will always be by your side. No matter what." The male ushered for someone to walk over, which had been his mother.
She was clearly pregnant, a hand on her growing stomach as she grinned. "Love you, Asher. We all do."

The camera cut again, now showing the older male and a tiny version of Asher playing together in the grass. "Dad, dad! I wanna fly again, please!!?"
"Your dad's getting old, Asher.. I'm fuckin' dying..."
"Mom, dad's fuckin' dying!"
The camera fumbled, "Asher—!"
Again, the film cut. Asher's dad was in bed, seemingly sick, while the brunette was cheesing widely besides him. "Daddy, don't worry. You're stronger than Superman, so you'll be better in no time!"
His mom laughed behind the camera.
"Wow, who taught my son so well," his father asked hypothetically, poking at Asher lightly, which made him go into a giggling fit.
Then, it stopped. The video was over.
The room was silent. No one was too sure of what to say.
"Your dad is so badass, Asher!" Nendou said abruptly, making everyone flinch.
The brunette smiled lightly, "Yeah, from what I can remember, he really was."
"That was a pretty cool gift, don't you think? Should've watched it sooner, dumbass," Aren grinned, shoving him with his shoulder softly.
Asher shrugged, "I guess so."
'Glad all of them aren't stupid enough to ask questions, I guess.'
Timeskip ..
Later, while everyone was drifting off to sleep, Toritsuka pulled Saiki to the side.
"What do you want? I'm tired."
"Remember when I was looking at everyone's guardian spirits that one time?"
"Mhm..?"
"Well, Asher's guardian spirit- it's his dad."
Saiki blinked. "Is that even possible? Asher's dad died while he was alive..."
Toritsuka scratched his chin, "Well, it is possible that, somehow, he swapped places with whoever his guardian spirit was before. It's extremely rare, but that has to be the case."
Saiki's eyes slowly trailed over the Asher's sleeping body. His mouth was wide open as he breathed heavily.
"That's relieving. But don't tell him."
"Huh!? Why!?"
"Don't be so loud," Saiki glared. "It might mess with him if he knows his dad was quite literally with him the entire time. It's best like this."
Toritsuka hummed. "Who knew you could be so considerate-?"
"Yeah, yeah. Anyways, go to sleep."
The two went to lay down, Saiki in the spot closest to Asher. He stared at the brunette for a moment in thought.
"You've really changed me, Asher..."

Shadow Knight
MAIDEN TRILOGY: BOOK 2 Devorah Kempenny is small, slight, and sickly. Her aunt, the Governor, insists that she learn history, politics, and economics in preparation for some mysterious purpose. But Devorah would rather read novels and dance in the rain and while away her time wandering the dusty old library. When she's summoned to Fort Shepherd, Devorah learns she may well be the secret weapon her aunt expects her to be. Soon, she finds that swords, shadows, and necromancy are hers to wield with ease. SHADOW KNIGHT is the second in the MAIDEN TRILOGY, a fantasy-epic, coming of age, hero's journey. It is my second novel, written between January 1, 2011 and July 21, 2012. The novels in this trilogy take place concurrently rather than consecutively.

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.

Good Guy Necromancer
Necromancers are murderous, repulsive, utterly ungodly creatures. And then there's Jerry. Jerry is a novice necromancer who treats his undead warmly, seeks to befriend people instead of harvest their bodies, and doesn't mind cracking a skull or two when needed. He genuinely is a good guy—too bad nobody believes him. Trying to discover his place in the world, Jerry will live great adventures. He will make friends, each unique in their own way, and together, they will travel through a variety of striking environments; from a tiny village, to the land of the dead, to a jolly archipelago, to a kingdom on a beanstalk. To save a world that shuns him, Jerry must stand against a large organization of arrogant, mighty wizards. He strives to become stronger while maintaining his kindness, only to realize that, maybe, gentle hearts make the greatest necromancers. This is the story of a delightful man in a harsh world—full of warmth, action, and wise-cracking bone puns. Chapters are usually 2-3k words, and updates are 3/week: Mon, Wed, Fri. If you're looking for another fun, action-packed adventure, check out Cultivator vs. System by yours truly, available on Kindle, KU, and Audible. But read Good Guy Necromancer first.
