The trees swayed in the strong wind, the cloudy sky giving the kids shelter from the sun. They littered around the place, running and laughing as a little girl chased after them. She had a gigantic cap on her head, it definitely didn't belong to her seeing it was going to slip anytime soon. But she had to wear it, she was the police after all.

"You can never catch me, Sona!" Tarni wiggled by her side, her short legs running the other direction when Sona turned towards her.

Her chaste lips were twisted into vexation. Did her best friend think she couldn't win? Of course she could win! And she would win! With great determination flowing in her veins as dashed forward.

A shrill cry left Tarni's lips as Sona came tumbling behind her, her arm outstretched to hook the cuff of her dress. She was close, so close but a damned rock came in her way ruining her whole velocity. Thankfully she only stumbled on her toe and didn't fall on the concrete.

"Arrgh!" the 9 year old tugged her braids in frustration, giving Tarni a last glare she turned around and ran to catch her other friends instead. In no time she had caught each and every person, or more like they had allowed her to catch them. The only other person left was Dhruv, he was the most annoying of all.

"You can't catch me!" he taunted her, laughing as she lagged behind him. But her eyes decried someone more interesting as her legs turned the other way.

"Abhay Bhaiya! Abhay Bhaiya! Will you play with us? We are playing chor police!" she spoke sweetly as she saw him walking towards the house. He had just come back from school. He had schools on Saturdays unlike them, Sona felt bad for him. She didn't want to go to school on a Saturday, the weekends were solely reserved for fulltime playing with no studying. But Abhay had to study even on Saturdays and Sundays. Oh, how unfair it was for her favourite bhaiya!

"Oh?" he looked tired as he carried his bag, raising a lazy eyebrow he looked at the girl. She blinked at him, thinking he would refuse but the next second her cap was snatched over and the boy had dumped his bag and ran away.

"Yes! Yes! Go Bhaiya!" Tarni who was sitting with her friends at the 'loser' spot clapped enthusiastically as she watched her brother join them.

"Not fair!" Sona whined as she could hardly keep up, she was not even jogging as she chased after him, her breathing going ragged. A small idea creeped up in her mind and a smirk took over her lips as she tried to catch her breathe. She knew that Abhay bhaiya cared for her a lot!

She started coughing, patting her chest harshly as she bent her knees. Tarni, Khushi and Sara screamed, rushing inside the house to call for help. This had happened before.

"Tarni bring her inhaler!" Abhay yelled after his sister as he took Sona in his arms. His face was itched with worry as he picked her up, rushing inside the house.

Sona gulped, stopping her acting as she hit Abhay's arms. "I am okay, I am okay," she said and then snatched the cap on his head. "I win!"

She jumped out of his arms, bouncing up and down in her lighting shoes as she laughed. "I win! I win! I win!" she was so happy, it was evident in her mesmerising smile. She looked at Abhay, expecting him smile at her too. That's what he always did but now he was glaring at her, harshly.

"What do you think you were doing?" his voice was so rough that it physically scrabbled her. She looked startled, the whole place had gotten quite, all the kids were looking at him yell at her. Even Tarni and the girls had come out with her mother.

"You think it is okay to fake getting an asthma attack? Do you not know how serious it is?"

Tears rolled down her cheek as she saw her favourite person screaming at her. A sob racked her body as she moved to hold his hand but he wrenched it away from her.

"Abhay bhaiya. . . " she sniffed.

"Abhay, that's enough, she's a kid," his mother said.

But he ignored her, still glaring at Sona with his dark eyes. "Don't even try doing that again! That also for a game! Are you stupid?"

Sona started crying more, fisting her hands as she rubbed her eyes. "You are mean! You are so bad! I want to go home! I will never talk to you!"

Little did she know that even after everything Abhay would still be in her heart for a long long time.

I don't know when I will start with the updates because I am being so lazy right now! But I thought of publishing the prologue first in hopes of getting motivation from y'all (┬┬﹏┬┬)
