The mirror was once your friend

You would look at yourself and smile

Admire your bright eyes and light freckles

Love the way every shirt and dress looked on you

But then you grew up

You grew up and the mirror didn't like you very much

You started to watch your teeth yellow no matter what

Watched your eyes begin to dull and your freckles faded away

You began to hate looking at your body

Every shirt to tight in every place you hated

Then you grew up a bit more

The mirror grew to be an enemy

You stopped seeing your smile

If you saw it you were faking

You watched your face become something you don't recognize

You wonder who is staring back at you

Stopped looking at your body

Knowing you look like a person you aren't meant to be

Trapped in a body that never looks right

Your mind now often wanders

Wandering to the things you hate of yourself

Wandering to the things you want again

Wanting to look normal again

Wanting to love yourself again

Wanting to love the mirror again

Because the mirror used to be your friend

But you've never been one to be known for keeping friends
