《Ennard X Reader: Tubes and Wires》Ambush

Ever since Ennard had mentioned Fredbear being... deactivated... Springtrap had been acting somewhat distant. He would maintain a walking distance about ten feet ahead of the three of you. You even recalled Yenndo asking him a question maybe about an hour ago, but Springtrap didn't seem to hear him, or he'd completely ignored the endoskeleton. A glance up at Ennard revealed that the clown wasn't happy about Springtraps attitude, even after what he'd said about the rabbits long-lost stage partner. He almost made an attempt to say something, but you had nudged his arm, shaking your head 'No.'. Which Ennard had replied to by making a gurgling noise and then looking away. You knew he wasn't going to say anything nice at the moment- He was probably thinking, 'What's done gotten into his suit?' Even though he knew it was his words that had, so the clown just let it go. It wasn't long before the sun was starting to set completely, and a dull, dark grey cloud cover blanketed the sky. It would rain eventually. The day behind had been filled with clouds beforehand, but when the sun did happen to shine through the dark cover of the forest, Springtrap tended to draw into the shadows of the trails that were treaded. Either the rabbit was sensitive to too much accumulated heat... Or he was staying out of somethings line of sight... Yenndo leaned down to your ear level, his concerned voice a mere whisper, "Ennard needs to apologize for what he said earlier today. Springtrap's been in this mood all day. He hasn't spoke a word since their little argument!" He softly spoke.
Overhearing, Ennard stifled a scoff and lowered his head to join the conversation. "What?! I'm not apologizing! He got cocky with me over a question, Yenndo! That's why I-"
"UH-HUM!"
All three of you immediately paused the conversation and glanced up. Springtrap was standing a few yards away with his arms crossed over his tattered chest, a displeased look showing on his face. You cleared your throat and nudged Ennard in the side, while Yenndo just crossed his arms and glared at him. The clown knew exactly what the two of you were mentally telling him. "Ugh! OK, fine... Springtrap, I apologize for what I had said earlier today. It was very rude of me... But being salty about it towards all of us is uncalled for." "Ennard!" You and Yenndo hissed in unison. Springtrap sighed and slowly put his hands on his hips, closing his eyes for a moment and then catching Ennards unimpressed expression. He was thinking. "...Thank you, Ennard..." The rabbits stern expression faded slightly as he looked away for a moment to think. His mouth opened for a moment as if he was going to say something before closing again. The rabbit slowly shook his head. He glanced to you and Yenndo. "And... I apologize for being rude to the two of you..." He softly spoke before turning around and continuing to walk. Ennard had the strongest expression of, 'Are you serious?!' written on his faceplates that it almost made you laugh. Springtraps apology to you and Yenndo totally caught him off guard, but nonetheless he joined the three of you as you continued on the journey. Springtrap had decreased the follow distance between the three of you, but it was done gradually, now within seven or so feet ahead of the group. The rabbit seemed to be troubled by something. 'Last night.' You thought. You couldn't help but keep notice of the slight limp the rabbit had as he walked. It made you wander what had happened to him the other night. But seeing that everyone appeared 'leveled' with each other once again, you'd decided not to ask any questions. The rabbit claimed it was an accident that had happened, and you were just going to leave it at that.

"He seems a bit troubled by something... I hope he's alright." You said mentally. Taking your mind off of Springtrap, you wondered about other things. "I wonder how everyone's doing back at the 'Pizza World'? There's no doubt that Baby's the one taking care of Kevin and my fish. And I bet Funtime Freddy's helping. He loves Kevin. I remember when I first told Baby that I had pets before she let me move in. She was alright with the idea, but she refused to hold Kevin because she mistook him for a rat!" You smiled warmly at those thoughts.
'I can't wait to be back with everyone.'
The dull, cloudy, sunset had ever so slowly faded into night, leaving only the clouded moon as a light source. Yenndo put himself at the front of the group, right behind Springtrap. The poor endoskeleton was doing his best to hide his fear of the eerie forest, but was doing a bad job at it. An owl had hooted far off in the distance and you could've thought that the bare endo was about to tremble off of his frame! You walked up beside him and gently nudged his hand with yours which caught his attention. He gave a weak smile in return. "Sorry... This place is way worse at night..." He admitted sheepishly. "I understand you're scared, Yenndo. But remember what Springtrap had said- Nothing dangerous lives in this forest. There's nothing to be afraid of." You said. Springtrap had caught your last sentence, and he sighed.
"...For now, there isn't...'
Ennard soon realized how far behind he was and wasted no time in getting caught back up with the two of you. "How about not ditching me, you guys?" He stated half offensively. You glanced up at the clown and shrugged. "Sorry, Ennard. Yenndo didn't want to be in the back, so he moved up here. And he was scared so I came over to calm him down. You aren't scared, are you?~" You teased in an attempt to elevate the mood. Ennard rolled his eyes and waved his hand. "Who, me? Nooo... Someone has to be the brave one here. And as the tallest, I volunteer." Ennard had been given a glare from Yenndo.
"And what's that supposed to mean?"
"I'm just taller than you."
"By three inches!"
"Exactly. And I am probably the bravest, on a scale."
"Hey, just because this place gives me the hebeejebees does not mean that I'm not brave!"
"Yenndo, you got scared by a beetle..."
"Ugh! I didn't expect wings to pop out of it's back. And you literally called that squirrel a dog."
"Well, how was I supposed to know which was which?"
Springtrap glanced over his shoulder at the three of you talking to and teasing each other, mainly the two endos. The connection you three had was unmistakably inseparable, even when bickering... He faced forward and cringed, a familiar pain pulsing in his chest. The tattered rabbit shamefully lowered his head.
"What am I doing...?"
"He said he'd tell me were he was if I brought them along..."
"He assured me that he knew where he was..."
"He only requested Ennard... Not Yenndo and Y/N..."
"...Unbeknownst to them,... here I am leading the three..."
"...Y/N..."
"That sweetheart..."
"What will he do with Y/N...?
"He would let her go, I'm sure..."
"He wouldn't have a use for her..."
"But..."
"Ennard..."

"He needs him..."
"And I need to keep a grip on this deal..."
"If I don't, I'll never find him."
"I'll never see him again..."
Springtrap glanced ahead. He frowned. It wouldn't be long until they arrived at their destination...
He looked back at the three of you. His silver eyes were laced with pain.
"Why...?"
"Why did you agree to this...?"
"You were used as a disguise for a child murderer..."
"William is the child murderer..."
"Not you..."
"This is not like you..."
"This is not you..."
"He will never agree to you doing this..."
"...No..."
"Fredbear would never agree with you doing this..., even for you to find him..."
Springtrap stopped dead in his tracks. "...We need to turn back..." His voice was low, but auditable. The three of you stopped and fell silent with confusion at what the rabbit had just said. Ennard and Yenndo exchanged glances. You spoke up, "...W-what do you mean...?"
Springtrap turned to face the three of you. He gritted his teeth and lowered his head. "I... I-I... made a deal-" Springtrap had glanced up for a second to look the three of you in the eyes but he had completely froze. His silver gaze was lingering above and behind the three of you. He glanced back to you and then lowered his head in shame.
"I knew you couldn't do it..."
A dark voice from behind made the three of you spin around. And, as if on que, a loud boom of thunder rattled the night sky. From a thick brush cover, all you seen was a set of blazing, blue eyes staring dead at the four of you. Ennard gasped. 'Those blue eyes from the other night...' A bright bolt of lightning flared, fully igniting the forest. Another rumble of thunder followed and the brush pile shook and gave way as the blue-eyed being slowly stalked from it's, no his, hiding spot. You were frozen with absolute fear. It was an animatronic, a tall animatronic. He was grey with shaggy, grotesque fur. Large, pointed ears topped his head, and his long, narrow snout was laced with more teeth than you could even count. His large paws were tipped with long razor sharp claws. He hunched over as he slowly walked, a stance only a predator would take use of.
He was a wolf... A twisted wolf...
"Sooo, who do we have here?~ Hmmm, one, two- Oh! Three. A third edition, Springtrap?~" The wolf growled. A malicious scowl lined his long muzzle as he stared you down. Ennard snarled and pulled you behind him. "Leave her alone!" He yelled, his metal teeth bared. The wolf feigned surprise. "Well, well, well... Ennard... You do have a temper. Maybe Afton could make good use of you after all. And your endoskeleton friend as well." The wolf purred. Ennard stiffened. He glanced at Springtrap. "...What is he talking about?!" Springtrap opened his mouth to speak... But nothing would come out. The rabbit lowered his head. Ennard growled and turned back to face the large animatronic. The wolf chuckled darkly and slowly shook his head. "Oho, talk about keeping your trap shut!" The wolf slowly started advancing towards the three of you. Ennard lowered his head aggressively and guided Yenndo behind him as well. "You see, Ennard, before Afton broke into that old, wasteland of a pizza parlor, Springtrap had made a deal: Bring him you...And he would bring him Fredbear in return." You and Yenndo looked at each other with horrified expressions. Your eyes were brimming with tears as you glanced over to the rabbit. He caught your heartbroken gaze and he shuttered painfully. His regretful expression slowly twisted into one of fury. Springtrap gritted his teeth. "The deal is off!" The rabbit barked. With another harsh crack of lightning and a following boom of thunder, it had started to rain.
At Springtraps bold words, the wolf had paused. Actual surprise layered his expression this time. He slowly raised a crooked brow and gritted his sharp canines. "Pardon?" He lowly rumbled. Springtraps silver eyes narrowed, his pupils two mere pinpoints. "I said the deal is off! Let them leave!" He thundered. Seeing the rabbit actually mad was intimidating, and the fact that the rain, now dripping down and off of his tattered form, didn't faze him made him appear more menacing. But the wolf didn't seem fazed by the rabbits rage. "You are NOT backing out of this deal! Afton WILL get what he wants!" The wolf dashed forward and thrashed his large, clawed hands out to grab the three of you. You and Yenndo screamed in terror. Ennard snarled viciously, and was about to jump forward and attack, until all three of you were pushed out of the way. You slammed into the wet ground with a thud and grunted with pain. Your terrified, E/C eyes darted forward to lock onto Springtrap landing a stone-hard punch to the wolfs jaw, sending the wolf railing sideways and crashing to the ground. Before the horrible canine could get to his feet, Springtrap ran over to you and jerked you off the ground and to your feet. He roughly nudged you forward as Ennard and Yenndo scrabbled to their feet beside you, forgetting all about the backpack that held your camping items. Springtraps silver eyes burned into your horrified E/C ones. "RUN! ALL OF YOU! GET OUT OF HERE NOW!" He bellowed. Without a second thought, or moment to spare, the three of you sprinted forward and into the dark forest. As you ran, you glanced back once more to the rabbit. And you could very clearly read his saddened facial expression through the pouring rain.
'I'm so sorry...'
After the three of you had disappeared, Springtrap spun back around, only to be met with a large, razor sharp, clawed paw slicing him across the side of his face. It was more than enough force to throw the rabbit off of his feet and to send him tumbling and skidding into the mud. Seeing that Springtrap was taken care of for the moment, the wolf bent back on his haunches and let out a bone rattling howl. Springtrap coughed and tried his best to look up as the brushes rustled. He gasped as three large animatronics came crashing from the woods: A large, brown bear with teeth infesting his mouth and stomach; a purple bunny with warts all over and a split lower jaw filled with fangs; and a malicious chicken animatronic that was fused together with multiple cupcake animatronics. The wolf quickly pointed in the direction that the three of you had ran off in. "AFTER THEM! DON'T LET THEM ESCAPE!" The three wasted no time with following the wolfs command. They thundered through the forest, hot on the trails of you, Ennard, and Yenndo. "Meet me at the junkyard when you have them!"
The wolf watched his three allies leave and then panned his attention to Springtrap. The rabbit was heaving and coughing. "You..." Springtrap grunted as he was roughly yanked from the ground by his ears. The wolf turned him to be face to face. "They'll find them. They will. And William will have what he wants..." He snarled. Springtrap winced and weakly pulled at the canines paw with shaking hands as the wolf gripped his ears tighter. "Didn't I say I'd tear you apart if you went back on our deal? Well... I believe Afton will enjoy it more than I will. I'm saving you for later, you pile of rust!"
"And you can forget about seeing that beloved bear of yours ever again..."

Embers in the Ash is an epic fantasy adventure story that aims to span quite a few chapters (I hope!). To set expectations, this isn't going to be a LitRPG or power fantasy-style story. I'm aiming for a fairly grounded story set in a fairly high-fantasy world. I hope you enjoy it! For this first month of publication, my aim is to give you, the reader, something to really bite into. I will be releasing a chapter every day at 9:15 AM EST (13:15 GMT), as well as the occasional double chapter (which will always be announced by a post-chapter author blurb). Check in fifteen minutes after the first chapter's release! After this first month of publication, the aim is to go for either a weekly or bi-weekly release schedule, depending on the sort of time I can reliably dedicate to writing. Either way, settle in for the long haul, and welcome to the story!
