《Ennard X Reader: Tubes and Wires》Forgotten Memories

The forest was brimming with life as the sun arose. Birds were singing their winter carols, the snow-covered trees slowly swayed in the gentle breez, and the camp fire was still burning brightly. The crackling of the wood was enough to wake you, albeit you were a light sleeper. Without sitting up, you turned and looked at Ennard and Yenndo. Due to their simular, wirey bodies, it took you a second to register how the two endos were laying; Yenndo had somehow managed to squeeze himself between you and Ennard while you all were asleep last night and was currently being snuggled by a snoozing Ennard. The sight made you chuckle amusingly as you sat up. 'Aw, I bet Ennard thinks Yenndo's me!' You then rubbed your eyes and stretched your arms, glancing around the tent once more before realizing something. Springtrap wasn't there. 'Hmm. I wonder if he's already awake.' With that thought, you pushed the cover off of you and quietly made your way out of the tent, being cautious not to wake Yenndo and Ennard.
A few birds flew past above you, three small Gold Finches. The tiny birds perched in a nearby tree and began to peck at some berries. 'Huh... I guess birds have breakfast, too.' You thought to yourself, turning your attention to glance around at the campsite afterwards. The fire was still burning, despite the chilly temperature of the ground. The snow around it had melted away overnight to reveal a few pods of short, dark green grass. A few feet away from the fire, you noticed that Springtrap was leaning against the fallen log quietly snoozing away. His head drooped against his chest and the rabbit's tattered ears hung over in front of him. His hands were at his sides as if he were only an empty suit. The position he was laying in made his entire body look like it. You would've smiled warmly at the sight, but you noticed that the rabbit's face was twisted into an expression of pain. His eyebrows were furrowed and his mouth was displaying a frown. Lowering yourself down on one knee, you reached over and gently shook his shoulder. "Springtrap? Springtrap, wake up." The said rabbit groaned and then opened his eyes. He blinked a few times before giving a little yawn and looking at you. He registered a tired smile. "Ah, good morning, Y/N. Up so early, huh?" The rabbit quietly greeted. You pulled your hand away from his shoulder and helped him to his feet. Apon standing, Springtrap grunted and then clutched his side, his sudden actions making you gasp. "Is something wrong? Are you ok?" You questioned as he eased himself against the log. Springtrap gave a shaky sigh as he gently sat himself on the large fallen trunk and slowly pulled his hand away from his side. "...I...just had a small accident while gathering firewood last night..." You gasped once again as your eyes caught sight of a puncture wound on the rabbit's torso. There was dried oil surrounding the wound from when it had happened. "Oh, no... D-does it hurt? Are you gonna be alright? I can wake up Yenndo. He should be able to help you." You sputtered. The rabbit gave a small smile at all of your worry. "It's a little painful, yes, but I'm sure I can manage. It didn't put an end to me, after all, hmhm." Springtrap's enthusiasm provided some sort of relief for you, but the fact that he was already in tatters and despair only kept burning worry into your heart. "Springtrap, are you sure you're alright? We still have a days worth of traveling to do, and... and you might not be able to handle William when we reach him like this."

Springtrap's assuring smile faded as you mentioned William's dreadful name. His silver orbs stared into your e/c ones with a guilted expression of pure sorrow... Thinking that the rabbit had forgotten about having to fight the crazy man, you frowned with dismay as you regretted your words. "Springtrap...you don't have to do this. Your suit isn't meant to handle all the damage it has. If you were to go up against William, it wouldn't take him much effort to put you down, given the state that you're in." Your heart throbbed painfully as you spoke those words, truly it did. It hurt to tell the rabbit that, but it was true. Springtrap broke his sorrowful gaze on you and gave a heavy sigh. His heart was telling him to tell you, but his brain was telling him to "...Just... Just give me a moment to put out the fire... You can wake the others now if you'd like..." The rabbit quietly said. Taking the hint that he needed a moment to himself, you nodded, turned, and then made your way back to the tent while Springtrap began shoveling snow onto the fire. As you walked, you glanced over your shoulder once more to frown at the wounded animatronic. You could see him limping every time he put pressure on his left side.
'I really shouldn't have said that to him. Maybe I should say sorry... Or... No. I should just do what he asked and wake up Ennard and Yenndo.' With that in mind, you ducked into the tent and pulled the cover off of the two endos. "C'mon, guys, wakey, wakey. It's morning." You said. Yenndo only groaned and snuggled into Ennard's chest more, while Ennard actually yawned and woke up. He gave a sleepy smile as he saw you, which soon faded as he felt someone else snuggled into his arms, which made him look to see who it was. "GAH! YENNDO, GET OFF OF ME!" You began laughing as Yenndo sat up with shock and began sputtering confused words as he realized what he was doing. "WAIT- WHAT, YOU WERE- NO, I WAS HUGGING- OH, WHAT'S GOING ON?!" Due to your uncontrollable outburst of laughter, you had to step outside to get some fresh air, which left Ennard and Yenndo in the tent with their argument. "Do I look like a teddy bear to you, Ennard?!" "Yenndo, you were snuggling me!" "No, I wasn't! I woke up and then you were hugging me like I was Santa Claus!" "Gezz, Yenndo, I just thought you were Y/N, ok?" Ennard admitted, hoping it would ease the tension between the two of them. Yenndo scoffed and got to his feet. "Oh, please! I think you would've noticed if you were hugging another pile of metal!" "Pfff, yeah right! I bet you were just being scared of the dark!" The two endos stepped out of the tent and looked around at the beautiful, winter morning scenery. The snow was brimming with shine from the sun and the trees looked magical as colorful birds flew to and fro. Yenndo spotted a small fluffy animal sitting on a branch and smiled with delight as he pointed to it. Ennard glanced over at the said creature and thought for a moment. "Oh, That's a dog." "That's a squirrel, Ennard." You corrected from where you were standing. Ennard turned to you with a raised brow before smiling. "Oh. Right." You walked back over to the tent and began packing your blanket back into your backpack as Springtrap began pulling up the stakes. A shriek from Yenndo made you jump with alarm and spin around, ready to slam someone with your backpack. Your alarmed expression scrunched into an agitated one as you saw Yenndo and Ennard playfully hurling snowballs at each other. Ennard had launched one straight into Yenndo's face and it made the endo screech with surprise. It wasn't long before the little scene made a smile grow on your face. It was nice seeing the two have fun. It made you wonder how the rest of the circus crew would react to seeing this type of environment. 'I bet Funtime Freddy would be trying to eat the snow, haha!' Chuckling over your thoughts, you called out to the two endos and mentioned for them to help take down the tent. Ennard hurled one more snowball into Yenndo's face before laughing and retreating over to you with Yenndo right behind him.

"Ok, you two. These supporting poles need to be taken out of the tent so we can separate them and pack them back into the tents holding bag. Can you guys do that while I organize my backpack?" You asked. Two identical looks of cluelessness bounced back to you from the endos. "Uhh... I think so?" Yenndo replied. Ennard gave a small nod and began fiddling with the tents main supporting pole, smiling with a proud look of 'Aha' as he found out how to remove it. Yenndo soon caught on and began separating the pole as Ennard removed the other one. You sighed thankfully and then began to organize the few things in your backpack, being sure that everything would fit before you placed the tent back in with everything else. Yenndo began mumbling directions to himself as he sat the pole pieces neatly into the tents carrying bag. "Ok, this goes here...that goes there...and the tent goes in the middle. Hey Ennard, you need help with the tent?" The said endoskeleton, who was currently trying to neatly roll up the camping device, paused to glance at the bear endo. "If you're finished mumbling about organization to yourself, then yes, I would like some help." Taking the clowns frustrated tone to mind, Yenndo walked over to the other side of the tent and began helping Ennard roll it up correctly. After that was done, they wrapped the straps around it to keep it in place and then sat it in the carrying bag and zipped it shut. Ennard sighed with relief as Yenndo picked up the tent bag. "Phew, I'm glad that's over with. I thought we'd never get that thing packed." Yenndo nodded with agreement and smiled victoriously as the two made their way over to you. "Oh, good. You two actually got it packed in one piece. Thanks." You laughed as Ennard handed the bag to you. You neatly placed it into your backpack and then zipped it closed. Before you could sling the weighty item over your shoulder, Yenndo grabbed it and placed it on his back. "I'll carry it this time, Y/N." He offered. "Oh, well, ok. Thanks." You shrugged with a smile. As you turned to go find Springtrap, Ennard gawked at Yenndo with a displeased look shrouding his face. Yenndo glanced at him and went blank. "What?" "You'll carry it this time?" Ennard bickered. Yenndo raised a brow at the clowns snarkiness and shrugged cluelessly. "You carried it last time. I just thought that I'd be useful and carry it this time." The endo said with the most innocent of smiles. Without a comeback, Ennard just simply grumbled and rolled his eyes. "C'mon. We'd better get going."
You walked around the former camp site and searched around for Springtrap. He had disappeared after he removed the stakes from the tent and set them in the carrying bag. As you neared the forest edge, you got an uncany feeling in your chest. The woodland was strangely dark, even with the sun shining through the leaves. It brought a hint of insecurity upon you. "Hmm... These woods are kinda creepy... Maybe Springtrap-" Your voice fell silent as a nearby bush ruffled gently. It seemed like the world fell quiet as you turned to face the tall, snowy shrub. "...Springtrap...?" You whispered. The bush shook once more before you heard a stick snap. Feeling the need to run, you instead found a thick branch and picked it up, clutching the object close to your chest as the bushes ruffled again. You cautiously stepped back and readied a powerful swing as something tall lumbered out from the brush. Before you could whack the being on top of the head, you froze. The branch slipped from your panicked hands as Springtrap limped from the forest. He glanced at your seemingly frozen body and hummed with confusion. "Are you alright, Y/N? You seem frightened by something." The rabbit softly spoke. You blinked a few times before breathing a relieved sigh. "Y-yeah, I'm ok... I thought you were something dangerous coming out of the woods." You replied. Springtrap smiled innocently. "Oh, I'm terribly sorry. I didn't mean to frighten you. I was just deciding which path would be best to take." He assured. You nodded in understanding and then turned to see Yenndo and Ennard walking towards the two of you. Yenndo was playing with the backpack straps before glancing over to Springtrap. "So, where to now?" He asked. You and Ennard looked at the rabbit, awaiting him to give the next directions. "We'll be traveling along this path." Springtrap pulled back the large shrub from earlier and allowed the three of you to see. The path was quite wide and noticeable, even though the trees were growing along it. "Within the next day, this path will take us to William. From there, we will ambush the scrapyard where he is residing and attack when the time is right. Any questions?" He asked. The three of you shook your heads 'No'. "Alright then, let us be on our way..."

Paternum: A Superhero Story
When Quinn finds an experimental superpower-granting costume in their parents’ attic, they didn’t expect to be drawn into a web of superhuman intrigue, but their discovery serves as the catalyst for that conspiracy to slowly unravel. At it’s heart, Paternum is an extended coming-of-age story for the main character as they become a superhero, in a world with more reasonable stakes and less powerful heroes than many superheroic worlds. Themes include what art means to different people, and what it means to be a patron, whether as a sponsor, a parent, or a supporter. I consider Paternum‘s primary influences to be the various versions of Spider-Man, J. C. McCrae’s own superhero story Worm, and Drew Hayes’ story SuperPowereds. I hope that fans of such stories can find something to enjoy in mine as well. Paternum is primarily hosted on my website (thevoidwrites.com) where it updates weekly in groups of scenes totalling approximately 2000 words. Here on Royal Road, it will update once daily with one scene at a time, but only after each act is completed on the home site - the next batch of updates is scheduled to begin on February 5th. There is a discord channel for discussion (discordapp.com/invite/QFMM6yA), and you can vote for Paternum on topwebfiction (topwebfiction.com/vote.php?for=paternum) as well. Finally, you can buy the first book of Paternum, The Swift Uplifting Rush, in a couple different ways - as an ebook through Amazon, or directly from me for a discounted price, or as a physical paperback from Amazon. Buying the book will give you access to Drawing Hands, an exclusive arc that won't ever be published on either my site or Royal Road.
