《Relief of Guilt》Soulmates

Queen Moonhidora woke up from dispelling titans nightmares, taking down the lavender flowers off the pillars in the castle so they could replace them when the night came around again.

Ever since Rodan came to Alielot, Moonhidorah had made an effort to smile more for their brother each time they made them pancakes. And despite the headaches they had, this morning was no different.

When they walked into the dining room, for the first time in over a thousand years, their dear brothers were absent from the table. There were no pancakes, or any indication that Ghidorah had even done anything at all that morning.

Moonhidorah thought about it for a moment, wondering if their brothers had made love to Godzilla for the first time, and that was the reason why they weren't up yet. They were about to pick up a random fruit from the kitchen, when they heard a set of footsteps enter the room.

It was King Ghidorah alright, though they were looking rather strained.

"We're sorry, dear sisters." Ghidorah frowned. "But the Storm King's evil Monkey lackey decided to live in our girlfriend's castle, so I hope you can understand our concerns."

"The one with the Axe?" Moonhidora asked. "The Storm King is no more, and Godzilla has helped him reform. Not to mention, he can't do anything dangerous with us knowing how to beat his axe. What is your concern?"

"...We told Godzilla that we love her, and she didn't say it back." Ghidorah admitted. "She acted skittish around us several times during the date, as if she wasn't trusting of our presence. And then to see her eyes light up when she saw that rogue monkey, it was almost too much for us to handle."

"You might be reading into this brothers, remember that communication is important." Callist reassured them. "Ask her what is troubling her mind, and make sure you are all on the same page in your relationship."

"...Yes, you're right." Ghidorah decided, before quickly frowning again. "We are very busy though, and we don't want to make her uncomfortable by returning so soon. We will give it a few days, but not too many. I don't want that monkey to lay a hand on her."

Moonhidora ignored their brother's remarks towards Kong; dismissing it as an overreaction based on jealousy. They believed deep down in their heart that Ghidorah meant well, and Godzilla was overthinking as usual. Tonight, they would go into both of their dreams to make sure. It was their job after all.

Kong surprisingly managed to get a good amount of sleep, climbing out of his bed and sliding down the post to the floor and leaping up to open the door. He could immediately hear laughter, followed by Godzilla's gentle hushing. Kong smiled, already feeling happier than he ever did with the Storm King's army.

When he walked into the kitchen, he saw Cranium and Minya with pancake batter specks all over them. Minya was laughing as he took the spoon out of the bowl of pancake batter and smeared a little on Cranium's face.

Minya dropped the bowl and ran off, Cranium giving a sharp-toothed grin as he took off after the Gojira. Kong turned his attention to Godzilla, who was wearing a chef's hat and flipping a pancake-filled pan with her magic, all the while shaking her head at the two.

"Morning, Kong!" Godzilla grinned. "I thought I'd make all of us berry pancakes, if you don't mind."

"Who would mind?" Kong chuckled. "I hope you've got great plans for me today."

"You bet I do!" Godzilla exclaimed, taking the pan off of the stove. "Titano's going to enroll you and Cranium into the School and give you two a tour. And then after school is done, the Purpose Finders are going to take you out to a bunch of places."

"Oh? I was hoping to spend some time with you, my Queen." Kong lowered his head respectfully.

"Well, I'm the Principal of the School. Perhaps we could hang out while I'm grading papers tonight?" Godzilla suggested.

"Perhaps for a bit, I don't want to be a bother." Kong decided. Godzilla placed her claw under her chin in thought, before her eyes lit up.

"I don't teach school on the weekends, I can hang out with you the whole day!" Godzilla decided. Kong almost fell over.

"M-My Queen, you certainly don't need to do that!" Kong laughed.

It was funny, for in that moment, Kong felt like the most special Titan in all of the world, but his mind and his heart were floating in a raging sea of his fear and nervousness. To him, Godzilla was truly the most beautiful creature in the World.

And she was offering her an entire day of her time, Kong couldn't grasp how he was remotely deserving of this.

"Obviously I don't need to!" Godzilla giggled. "But I want to, I did miss what little time we spent at the Harmony Festival, before..."

"Before a lot of things changed." Kong smiled sadly. "But I'm very glad to see that life is wonderful for you."

Godzilla didn't speak, but instead offered Kong a plate of pancakes. Kong grabbed the plate and took it to the table, his heart beating like thunder and his legs wobbling at the unwanted thought of Ghidorah's glaring eyes...

Several days had passed, and Kong thoroughly enjoyed learning from Godzilla's friends. The Purpose had also taken him out to various activities such as bowling, soccer, cooking with Gojirin, and Komidax's clumsy attempt to teach Kong how to sew. While all of those things were fun to try, none of them truly took his attention and held it.

But that was hardly a concern, especially since today was the day he'd spend with Godzilla.

They had several nights to catch up while Godzilla was grading her pop quizzes, and each night was harder on Kong. Each night, Kong's hands begged for contact with Godzilla, and his face constantly drew closer to Godzilla's neck, but never close enough.

Part of him was aware of how unhealthy it was to stay with Kong, but he kept coming up with excuses in his head to keep him there. Especially since Cranium was becoming closer to Minya and his boyfriend Bathra, who appeared in the castle twice. Kong wondered if there was a polyamorous relationship there, but he couldn't tell.

Kong was currently waking up to the chirping of birds outside his room; the beautiful daylight basking on his fur. Before he could fully wake up, he felt the thundering in his heart again, for he didn't know what Godzilla had planned.

He steadily got off the bed and opened the door, only to be welcomed by a completely silent castle. Did Godzilla leave to do something else?

Then there was talking, talking that Kong could hear from outside the castle. As Kong walked closer, he recognized Komodithrax's voice.

"Well, darling, you should tell him if you're so certain..."

"I don't want to do that to him, he's been nothing but wonderful to me." Godzilla voice. "I just can't believe-"

Kong tripped over his own foot and nearly slammed his head into the tile floor, causing Godzilla and Komodithrax to stop talking altogether. Kong was mentally cursing himself by the time the castle door opened.

"Kong, are you okay?!" Godzilla asked. Kong nodded his head.

"Just a bit tired I suppose." She was talking about me, she wants to get rid of me. "Ready to spend the day together?"

"You bet! I was hoping to show you some of the best places in Titanville, to make you feel more at home." Godzilla beamed.

Kong could hardly enjoy her smile, especially when he thought that Godzilla was going to kick him out of her castle and leave him all alone. He followed Godzilla outside of the castle, and saw Komodithrax walking back to her home.

Never in a million years had Kong expected to be welcomed in a city ever since he left his hometown, and no one had ever loved him. Anyone who did see him couldn't see past the scars and serious face. And as nice as Godzilla was, Kong didn't think she'd be any different.

"I wanted to spend some time with you at the Sugarblock corner, catch a play at the Titanville Theater, and then we'll meet up with some of our friends at the Kaiju Bar n' Grill. Sound good?" Godzilla asked.

Kong nodded, surprised at how date-like most of her plans seemed to be. Even though he wanted a lot of time with just Godzilla, Kong was looking forward to getting to know the other heroes of Equestria.

As they took their seats at the Sugarblock Corner, Godzilla and Kong enjoyed talking to each other whilst eating ice cream.

"I, uh, didn't know that there were so many reformed creatures that live here." Kong commented. "I'd never guess that Rodan and Angirus caused great mischief like taking over towns."

"Yeah, it's wonderful that they found each other." Twilight smiled. "Destroyah too, he's been dating Titano for two years now."

"Isn't he immortal?" Kong asked, not being able to judge. He should've let Godzilla's immortality alone guide him away from falling in love, but it seemed that his heart wanted the impossible.

"Yeah, but he's got more magic than enough magic to take on Hokmuto." Godzilla told him. "He's more than able to make Titano immortal if they decide to stay together for that long."

"And yet he lets them be in peace, I suppose he has his reasons." Kong decided. "The PF's also told me that Zilla and Komodithrax were to be married?"

"Yes! Zilla longed for Komodithrax for a long time before confessing her feelings. Komodithrax broke up with her current boyfriend, and she confronted Zilla at her home." Godzilla smiled. "He was an asshole, so we're glad that he moved back to his hometown."

"Ugh, he was the worst! Good thing my gi...I mean Otachi was able to knock some sense into him." Gojirin approached them.

"It was quite a tough time." Godzilla agreed. "Evil will always be a force to be reckoned with, but at least we can face it together."

Godzilla opened up her arms to bring Gojirin and Kong into a hug, and Kong chose to fit his head into Godzilla's chest. He probably was going to lose touch with Godzilla anyway, so fuck it.

Godzilla released her hug, and Kong awkwardly pulled away.

"You should get in line for the play, I'll catch up." Godzilla winked.

Kong nodded, getting up and leaving. He guessed that she was also going to tell Gojirin the news of abandoning Kong for Cthulhu knows what. He just didn't want to be there to hear it.

Then, as he kept walking, he entertained the idea that Godzilla could've been talking about any boy. Hopefully the play would be entertaining enough to take his mind off of things.

When Kong walked into the theater, the employees' eyes lit up.

"You must be Godzilla's guest, Titanus Kong right?" said a black dark moth employee.

Kong nodded, shocked to see a dark moth that didn't open themselves to love. He tried not to stare at the female employee's holed body, but she flew closer.

"My name's Ali, I'll be taking you to the private theater room." the dark moth insisted, leading Kong to the biggest room in the Titanville Theater.

"Is there anything I can get for you? Popcorn?" Ali asked, hovering over Kong like a hummingbird.

"Um, nothing right now. Thanks." Kong took his seat in the third row closest to the stage.

"Okie, enjoy the show!" Then Ali zipped away in the blink of an eye.

That was weird.

Minutes later, Godzilla walked down the dark stair steps with a pinkish blue aura emitting from her dorsal fins to guide her to Kong's row. She slowly walked towards Kong, but something was different.

Kong was too frozen in the moment to say hi to her, especially with the awkward way Godzilla was staring at him. Like she had no shame in it.

"Is something wrong?" Kong finally spoke. "Did...Gojirin say something back there?"

"Nothing that'll change my mind." Godzilla laughed, still holding that same awkward demeanor. "Ready for the play?"

Kong nodded, he could use some silence with the thoughts battling inside his head. Maybe when the play got interesting, those thoughts would die down and he could enjoy the moment.

The actors for the play weren't titans that Kong recognized, all she knew so far was the play's premise: two guys that had feuding families that were homophobic and hated each other.

Then, one of the two main characters finally stepped on stage.

"Rodan?" Kong whispered.

"He and Angirus thought it'd be fun to take up acting." Godzilla smiled. "This is their first play, and they practiced many nights too!"

Kong didn't think that practice was needed, not when Rodan and Anguirus's chemistry spoke for itself. In fact, Kong was so riveted by their performance, that he didn't even think about the lack of audience until now.

He and Godzilla were the only titans watching the play.

"Did you reserve this performance just for us?" Kong asked.

"Mmhmm." Godzilla kept watching the play, blinking dreamily for Cthulhu knows why.

Kong felt something on his back, and it felt like everything was spinning in his mind. What was happening? He thought that Godzilla wanted him gone!

His posture slanted and he was staring intensely at the play, not focusing on it anymore. Godzilla's calm gaze and arm around his back was taking up any focus he once had.

But then he remembered Ghidorah, the co-ruler of the entire Alien Faction. If Godzilla was even stupid enough to make a move...the things that Ghidorah could do to Kong would be horrifying. The things that they could do to Godzilla might be worse.

The thought sent Kong reeling away from Godzilla's touch. He fell on the floor, causing Godzilla to get up and kneel down to him with concern.

"Ghidorah would kill you." Kong whispered, not getting up from the floor.

"They don't own me." Godzilla huffed. "After tonight, we're through."

"What?!" Kong hissed quietly.

But then Kong remembered the conversation that Godzilla had with Komodithrax, about doing something to a guy that's been nothing but wonderful to her.

It wasn't kicking him out of the castle. No, Godzilla was telling her friends that she was going to break up with Ghidorah.

"I'm sorry if I misinterpreted things, but I can't continue to be with Ghidorah when all I think about is you." Godzilla apologized. "We can talk after the play."

This wasn't happening, Kong's hands were trembling as he pulled himself back into his seat. Was it fear? Excitement?

The play ended with Rodan's character faking his death, only for Anguris's character to drink poison. Both characters died and the families grieved and ended their feud.

Kong frowned, a sad story like his own. The one girl to like him back, and the ruler of the Alien Faction holds their lives in the very balance.

Kong silently followed Godzilla out of the theater, contemplating on his words. He thought that Ghidorah was nice at first, but the glare that the Alien King gave him spoke a thousand cursed words.

If Kong got a death stare from talking to Godzilla, who knows what dating her will get.

"Godzilla, I do feel the same." Kong admitted. "But I don't know what Ghidorah is capable of, what if they want to hurt you for leaving them? Or hurt me?"

"They may be a little selfish, but I know them." Godzilla admitted. "They've been these fatherly and protective leaders for as long as I can remember; I'll always be the number one student they raised. In due time, who knows? They may even be happy for me!"

"Besides, where's that Kong that took on Six Alpha's at once during the Harmony Festival?" Godzilla teased. "I know you're a much better titan now, but you're still strong as you were then. Even stronger!"

"That was reckless of me, still." Kong allowed himself to smile. "Even if Ghidorah is perfectly fine with this, it still blows my mind. You want to be with me, over them?"

"It's what my heart wants." Godzilla shrugged, looking at Kong with those ridiculously big eyes.

Kong found himself being pulled towards those eyes, barely noticing their faces coming closer until-

"Hey Gojipie, how you doing?!"

Gojirin came out of nowhere and knocked Kong backwards a few steps.

"Remember everyone, cheating is wrong!" Gojirin glanced at Kong, keeping a big grin on her face. "Cause somebody could get hurt!"

"T-Thanks Gojirin, you can go now." Godzilla groaned.

"But I came here to take you two to Kaiju Bar n' Grill, everypony is waiting for you." Gojirin frowned.

"Oh, r-right you are Gojirin!" Godzilla realized. "I suppose I am a little hungry, let's get going."

Kong followed Gojirin and Godzilla, the former keeping her signature hop as they made their way to Bar n' Grill. He wondered if all of Godzilla's friends knew what was going on.

He wondered if they were all disapproving of Godzilla's decision.

Every few minutes, Godzilla would glance at Kong and give a small smile. It was still blowing Kong's mind that the Queen of the Earth Defenders liked her that way. He could only hope everything would work out in the end.

Zilla, Komodithrax, Titano, Otachi, and Destroyah were all waiting for them at a circular booth. Most of their stares were unreadable, except Titano's remaining friendly as always.

"Hello Kong." Titano smiled, leaning towards Destroyah. "How was the play?"

"Really good." Kong replied. "Rodan and Angirus were great on stage."

He could see Komodithrax whispering to Zilla out of the corner of his eye. Then, he noticed Gojirin pulling up chairs to make room for everybody. With the three chairs in a row, Godzilla and Kong sat on the end chairs while Gojirin sat in the middle.

"So, you telling Ghidorah?" Zilla asked Godzilla.

"Yes."

"And you two...?"

"Haven't done a single thing!" Gojirin grinned.

"Well, hopefully not. What I'm asking is, did you talk to Kong too?" Zilla asked.

"Yes, I did." Godzilla said. "He feels the same way."

"No surprise there." Zilla finally smiled. "Just don't make the same mistake twice, you need to talk to Ghidorah right away."

"Got it."

The rest of the evening was a lot better with everybody at ease again (except Gojirin). Kong got to hear more about Zilla and Komodithrax's wedding. Even though the two girls wanted to get married asap, the wedding wasn't happening for another six months. Komodithrax wanted to make sure everything was perfect; identical to the wedding she's planned ever since she was a child.

Kong didn't think he'd ever be deserving of such a future, not since he left his home. But there was something blooming in his heart when he looked at Godzilla's friends having such a good time. He didn't feel jealous anymore.

All in all, it was a pretty good evening.

"How did you feel when Minya started dating the leader of the dark moths?"

"Well, I wasn't all that surprised." Godzilla laughed as her and Kong walked back to the castle. "He had came out to us long before then. So when I saw him bring Bathra to the Guardian's Kingdom, I knew there was a connection there."

"I think Cranium likes them both." Kong admitted. "But he's never dated anyone before, and I feel a little protective of him. I don't know if he's ready to date a Gojira and a leader of an entire mini kingdom."

"Don't worry, I've done many studies on dark moths!" Godzilla reassured him. "And I myself am a Gojira. If Cranium has any questions, I'm happy to help!"
