She wanted to say it.

But she couldn't bring herself to do so.

Jack's voice went through her head as Boomer talked, asking her how she's been and other stuff like that.

'I have this amazing boyfriend, and he treats me so well, you know, he even let me come out today. He said he would every now and then. What brings you here?' Bubbles said in her best cheery voice, trying to contain the truth.

'Oh, I work in the police force now. I was just out for patrol.' He took out his badge to show her. 'Oh I'm so proud of you.' Bubbles mumbled, she placed a finger on it, and looked over at Boomer who gave her a nod.

She took it and looked at it, up and down, sideways and the other.

'I've never seen this before.' Bubbles said, she'd never seen something so shiny and pretty in the recent years of her life. "Really? I would've thought you'd have? All policemen wear this on the left side of their jacket. Like this.' Boomer took the pin back and put it on, demonstrating to Bubbles. How had she not seen this before, policemen alway walked around the area nearby, especially in the last few weeks because someone had reported to seeing an alleged abuser and rapist in the area being abusive, but the police force hadn't been able to pin down who it was or where they live.

Could she...?

No, Bubbles would have married better off than that, all the options she had before settling for that guy, what's his face?

It didn't matter but what was she doing in worn out clothes in this area, he owed her. from not contacting her after all those years after they graduated.

'Let's go for a walk. How 'bout that?' He asked her. She nodded softly and got up from the bench.

'I haven't seen the sky so blue before.' Bubbles said as she used her hand to shield herself and that when Boomer saw an off bruise on her underarm. Quite an off place for a bruise to be.

'Blue? The world is polluted as it is.' Boomer replied to her peculiar observation.

'Oh. What about the sun? It's so bright.' She said, totally mesmerised and staring straight into it, rubbing her eyes in between glances. 'Bright? Last time I checked it looks the same.' Boomer responded dully. The he realised how weirdly pale she was, as well as being unhealthily skinny.

'Bubbles, have you been eating much?'

'Well, duh.' She said cheerily, turning to him as if it was the most obvious thing ever.

Boomer didn't reply. 'Whats the time?' She asked him. Boomer looked down at his watch, still totally focused on the park itself, the police force didn't pay him for nothing.

'4:19pm? Why? Do you have to be somewhere?'

'Oh I think I should get going now. My husband should be looking for me.' Bubbles started to walk away, admiring the surroundings around her.

Something was off, he could feel it, and why did she walk off without an explanation?

It wasn't necessarily his business to wonder about his friend's new found habits or question them so he dismissed them as new interests or a diet?

Maybe she was on a diet? But why was she so pale?

Boomer hummed a tune as he started to walk the opposite direction, back to the police quarters of that area.

'Sir, we have an update.' A clerk turned to Boomer and said. 'It's a drawing of what one of the neighbours' children allegedly saw next to the Dawing Mansion nearby to the area you were patrolling today sir. This could be a new lead!'

'The drawing showed a child's scribbly drawing of a brown haired man and a blonde haired woman, the woman seemed sad while the man seemed angry and as if he was screaming, shown by the child's depiction of sound waves. next to the man. On the floor below the man and woman was a splatter or pool of red, Boomer naturally assumed this was blood of course.

'Tell the person to shut their blinds, a child shouldn't be seeing this.' Boomer said in a monotone voice.

'Will do sir.' The younger clerk left Boomer's office in a rush to phone the person who gave them the lead.

'Dawing Mansion, the road Bubbles was walking to after the walk in the park!' The realisation came to him!

She was attacked! She probably realised that she was living near to the alleged abuser and rapist from the words of the neighbours so she didn't go out! That explained why she was so pale! For protection! How smart she was!

Tomorrow he was going to go find Bubbles and warn her about the man!

Yes! How absolutely that he was for working all this out!
