DREW'S POV

It had been 11 days since the accident and Katelyn was still in a drug-induced coma. The amount of love and support I had received from work colleagues, fans and people who Katelyn had worked and toured with previously was unbelievable. When the doctor had said a week ago that Katelyn might lose her memory, I felt sick. It was selfish of me to think that I was scared in case she forgets me and AJ. I called her parents after day 7, to let them know what was going on. I couldn't get hold of them, found Kate's mum on Facebook and sent her a message. They were on a cruise around the Arctic Circle and wouldn't be back in Glasgow until the end of next week. Kinda figured really.

'Mr Galloway, may we talk in the hall?' the doctor put his head round the door. I got out of the chair I had practically made my home for the last 11 days and walked out of the room. 'We've had the results from Katelyn's MRI scan and there is a slight bleed on the brain. At the moment we don't know if or how it will affect her, so we are going to try and bring her out of her coma this afternoon. We will need you to sign a form to say that you are okay with us going ahead with this.'

'Sure. I'll sign it.'

'And it will probably be best if your friends in there goes home. Just for now. We don't want to overstimulate Katelyn when she comes around. Just you will be allowed to stay.'

'Okay. I'll make some calls and get somebody to pick our son up. Thanks doc.' I walked back into the room, which had been my home for almost 2 weeks, Maxx gave me a quizzical look as he played with AJ in the corner. I tried to wake Joe , shaking him by the shoulder. 'Joe. Joe.' After a minute or two, he woke up.

'What's up?' he yawned.

'I've just spoken to the doctor and they want to try and bring Katelyn round this afternoon to assess if she has any brain damage. They found a bleed on the brain, so they want to wake her up and see if there is any damage. You guys are gonna have to go home for now. Maxx, can you take AJ back to mine and maybe call Cary to look after him?'

'Sure, but I don't mind taking the little dude. I'll take him out for dinner, bath him later and put him to bed,' Maxx said. I dug into my pocket, pulled out the keys for Kate's Land Rover and tossed them to Maxx. 'I'll stay at yours tonight, take AJ to preschool in the morning and then come down. Do you want me to bring you some clean clothes?'

'That would be great, thanks. Joe, you okay with everything?' He made a face that said he wasn't, but legally I'm Katelyn's husband and I say what goes.

'Um, yeah sure,' he grunted.

'AJ, come to daddy.' I held my arms out and AJ ran over to me. I scooped him up in my arms and sat him on the bed. 'Daddy is going to stay here with mummy, okay? The doctor is going to try and wake mummy up this afternoon, so you need to go home with uncle Maxx and uncle Joe. You have to be a big, strong boy for daddy okay?' The toddler nodded.

'I big an strong like daddy,' AJ repeated. I picked him up again and hugged him close.

'I love you AJ,' I said, kissing his forehead and then passing him to Maxx.

'Lob you daddy.'

'Call me if you need anything,' Maxx said, giving me a hug. 'I'll wait in the car,' he said to Joe, taking AJ's diaper bag and leaving. I looked at Joe, heartbreak evident on his face.

'Joe, listen. I know how much you want to stay and be with her, but I'm only relaying what the doctor told me..'

'So my feelings don't matter, is that what you're saying?'

'No, that is not what I'm saying at all. The doctor said that he doesn't want Katelyn to be overwhelmed when she wakes up. Having both of us here could be very strange for her. The doctor needs to assess if there is any lasting brain damage. I will call you as soon as she wakes up and you can come back down to see her, okay?'

'I guess,' he shrugged. 'See you later.' With that, he left.

JOE'S POV

I was beyond pissed that the doctors wouldn't let me stay. I was just as important to her as what Drew was, yet because he had a piece of paper to say that he was married to her, I had to leave. It was bullshit.

'What's the deal with you, Katelyn and Drew?' Maxx asked when I got to the 4x4. 'And don't tell me that it's just because she helped you through chemo. I'm not an idiot.' I pulled at a loose thread in my jeans.

'Me and Katelyn had sex Christmas Eve, Drew came home and kinda caught us. The morning I made my return last month, Drew gave me and Katelyn a chance to have an affair...'

'So Kate gets to fuck both you and Drew? Lucky bitch.'

'It's not like that. It's not just sex. I love her. I have done for 5 years. That's why Galina wanted a divorce, she knew that she wasn't going to be able to compete with another woman.'

'Does Drew know this?' Maxx pulled into the parking lot at McDonalds. 'Hey, AJ, you want some chicken nuggets?'

'No. Sheeseburga,' AJ shouted, throwing his Teddy bear at Maxx's head. Maxx killed the engine and we both got out. Maxx took the toddler out of his car srat and we all went inside the restraunt. Luckily, it was empty, save for a couple of cops and a group of 4 teenage boys.

'Hi y'all, what can I get for you?' The server girl asked.

'Hey, can we get 2 large Big Mac meals, one with a chocolate shake and one with.. Maxx, what drink do you want?'

'Coke,' Maxx replied, sitting down in a booth with AJ in a high chair.

'A Coke. Um, a 20 piece chicken nugget sharebox with barbecue dip, a cheeseburger Happy Meal, no onion, with a chocolate shake and a large quarter pounder with cheese meal with a black coffee.' I pulled out my wallet and took out my debit card.

'Is that everything?'

'Yeah.'

'That'll be $31.78.' I swiped my debit card and stashed it back in my wallet. 'Are y'all eating in?'

'Yeah.'

'Okay, take a seat and I'll bring it over to you.'

'Thanks.' I turned and walked over to the booth where Maxx and AJ were. Sliding into the booth, I took out my cell phone and checked my social media. Scrolling through my Twitter newsfeed, an news article by People magazine popped up with a picture of me and Katelyn on the beach a few weeks ago, kissing. I clicked the article.
