We stay in that position for a few minutes, I never wanted to leave because I knew that everything was different now.

I look out the other window and can just see everybody playing around in the pool. They had gotten out the inflatable volleyball set and had split into 2 teams, I watch as Toby cheers and high fives Em as Blake hugs her excitedly, lifting her from the pool ground. Carter holds 3 fingers up on one hand and, 2 on the other. He sits on the pool edge with his legs in the water. She beams excitedly and cheers.

It seemed she was good at everything.

"A?" I question, lifting my head.

"Yeah?" Aiden responds.

"Will you do something for me?" I beg. I knew that was I was about to ask was unfair on everyone but I needed it.

"Anything," Aiden replies.

"Can we sleep together, just one last time?" I beg, tears falling from my eyes.

"As in sex?" Aiden questions in a surprised tone.

I nod at him; "I know you have her in your heart, and I know you'll be thinking of her, but please, I just need to one last time."

"Kit Kat, I can't," Aiden replies softly.

"Why not? Please Aiden, I feel like I failed you, just one last time and then that's it," I continue to beg, the tears now falling freely.

"Kat, I love her, I can't ruin that," Aiden tries again.

"I know Aiden, I know, but please. I know you love her, I know that she gives you everything you ever wanted and that I was never good enough, but I just need to, just one last time," I sound pathetic, I can't believe I was begging for sex, but I was in love with him, and I just needed to feel him one last time if I was to get over him.

"You were good enough Kat," Aiden replies instantly.

"Aiden you know that's not true, you have everything with her, and I don't blame you because she's beautiful but I have nothing here without you. I know I don't deserve it and it's not fair of me to be asking you to do this but please," I try one last time.

I get ready for his rejection again, the tears are already falling. I loved him, he loved her. But the rejection I'm so prepared for never comes.

"Okay," he agrees.

I look at him in surprise, but before long, he's kissing away my tears and taking me to a place that I was fully prepared he would never take me to again.

"Fuck yes!!" Toby cheers as he gets another point for our team. I laugh at him and smile when he grabs me before spinning me around in the water excitedly.

"Fine, I give up. You suckers win," Charlie groans.

"It's a good thing you're better at cheer than you are at Volleyball babe," Toby winks at her.

I laugh at his comment as Charlie swims over to him and jumps on his back. They laugh together as Dale swims over to me.

"Where's Aiden?" He questions.

"I'm not sure, he had to do something for Ang but that was like half an hour ago," I reply shrugging.

Dale looks around and for some reason, he looks annoyed but I ignore it before climbing out of the pool and sitting on one of the pool chairs. I check my phone and reply to a few text messages from Amy and James before I see an unfamiliar number that had tried to call me. My instant thought is that maybe it was my father but I knew his number would be recognized on my phone.

My curiosity takes control of me before I walk to a quiet spot so I can call the number back. Dale follows me and I tell him what I'm doing before calling the number again but leaving my phone on speaker for Dale.

A voice answers on the 4th ring; "Emily?"

I don't recognize the voice and soon enough, Charlie approaches us to listen as well.

"Hey, sorry who is this?" I question.

"So I see that you didn't save my number, it's Ryan." The voice jokes.

Wait, Ryan from school that had asked me out a few times?

"Oh, hey Ryan. How did you get my number?" I question. My question is answered when I see the guilty look on Charlie's face.

"Um, a little birdy?" He replies questionably.

"I'm sure," I reply, glaring at Charlie while Dale laughs silently.

"Anyways, I called you earlier because I was wondering if you would go on a date with me? I know that you're kind of Aiden's girl but I thought I'd try one more time," Ryan asks, I can actually hear the nervousness in his voice.

I go to reject but both Charlie and Dale both nod erratically at me.

"Um, sure?" I reply, shrugging my shoulders at Dale and Charlie who were silently cheering.

"That's great!! Why don't we go out after school tomorrow? I can pick you up in the morning and drop you home after our date?" Ryan offers.

Guilt floods my stomach as I realize that he was way more into this than I was.

"Uhh, that sounds good but Charlie usually takes me to school anyways so maybe she can take me, and then if it's okay, you can just drop me home?" I try to counter offer.

"Yeah, easily done," Ryan replies politely.

"Awesome, I guess I'll see you tomorrow at school then?" I respond, hoping to cut the conversation short so I could hit Charlie and Dale.

"Yeah, sounds perfect!!" Ryan replies.

We say our goodbyes and I turn to face Dale and Charlie with a murderous glare on my face.

"It'll be good for you!!" Charlie instantly defends.

"I agree, you need to get out there!!!" Dale agrees grinning.

"When did you even give him my number!?" I question Charlie.

"Um. At our last practice, he was asking me if you and Aiden are a thing and I said you's weren't and then he asked for your number," Charlie explains with a guilty look.

I give her a look but don't say anything else, I knew she only really wanted what was best for me.

Sighing, I begin walking back to the pool chair. Dale and Charlie follow and get straight back into the pool where Aiden now was, but I didn't feel like swimming with everyone. I was nervous about tomorrow. I didn't even like this guy, what would I do?

I'm so focused on my thoughts that I don't even notice the unfamiliar presence beside me.

"Emily?" I hear. My thoughts are broken instantly when I realize who was talking. Katherine?

"Oh, um, hi?" I reply nervously.

Katherine smiles at me; "hi, I'm sorry we haven't really spoken today."

"No that's fine!!" I ramble, why was she talking to me!?

"You're as beautiful as they all said," Katherine laughs. The sound is like windchimes and I actually find myself jealous of someone's laugh. My face burns at the compliment, someone as beautiful as Katherine was calling me beautiful?!

I wasn't sure if Katherine was just mocking me but she seemed genuine.

"Thank you," I reply, I still wasn't sure what was happening.

"Carter was saying that you had an adorable dog earlier, do you have pictures?" She asks.

I smile at her instantly, this girl knew that the way to my heart was through my dog. "Of course!!"

***

"No way!! That didn't happen!!" I laugh.

"It did though, I have pictures!!" Katherine responds, her laugh matching mine.

I wasn't sure how long Katherine and I had been talking and I hated to admit it, but I actually really liked this girl. I wanted nothing more than to hate her but there was nothing about her that allowed me to, she was so funny and actually really nice and genuine. As soon as she started asking me about Nala, we clicked instantly. She was now telling me the story of when her dog followed her to school one day with her bra.

"Does this stuff actually happen in Australia?!" I laugh.

"I guess so!! It just depends on the area," Katherine answers smiling.

"What's Australia like?" I question intrigued.

"You know, we ride kangaroos to school and eat tubs of vegemite every night," Katherine winks.

I can't help but laugh at her; "I would really like to eat vegemite, and see a kangaroo."

"You're so cute Em," Katherine laughs.

"So are Kangaroos common in Australia?" I continue to question, I would love to travel to Australia.

"Depends where you live, if you live in the city or developed areas then no, suburbs are not uncommon but it's in the bush or on the property where you see them every day," she explains.

I go to reply but I'm interrupted by an intoxicating presence; Aiden.

"Talking about me?" He smirks as he sits beside me.

"We're talking about kangaroos but I guess there isn't really a difference," I tease.

"Yeah there is, kangaroos are actually cool!!" Katherine inputs.

I laugh at her teasing while Aiden pouts at us; "already ganging up on me?"

"Always," Katherine smiles. He smiles back at her and a sick feeling finds its way to my stomach. I wanted to hate Katherine, trust me I did. There was just something so alluring about her, I just couldn't hate her. I knew why Aiden was in love with her, why he still is in love her. The way they smiled at each other just proved my point, they were perfect together.

Katherine and Aiden fall into conversation about something but I can't find it within myself to stay and listen, I didn't need to break my heart anymore.

"You alright baby?" Dale questions when he sees my obvious saddened look.

"Yeah," I mumble, looking behind me. That was a mistake because Aiden and Katherine were laughing about something. Aiden looked genuinely happy, he wasn't teasing her or making sexual remarks, he just seemed happy.

"I'm sorry gorgeous, he doesn't know what he's missing."

I smile weakly at my best friend, I go to reply but an ecstatic Charlie runs over to us; "guess what guess what guess what!!!!"

"What?" Dale questions, obviously wondering why his other best friend was so happy.

"Luke just asked me on a date, like an actual date!! Not just dinner as friends!!" Charlie beams.

I smile at her as best I can but my mind wonders as a thought comes in; I was in love with Aiden, I wasn't falling, I had fallen. Luke had finally asked Charlie out on a date but it made me sad knowing that I'd never get that with Aiden, I'd never have the excitement or nervousness that Charle was obviously feeling. Aiden had always caught me when I fell, at the party, the day of the party, so many other times as well but something told me that if I fell now he wouldn't be there, he'd be with Katherine instead.

"That's amazing Charlie!!" I smile at her, hiding my own emotions.

"When is it?" Dale questions.

"Tomorrow!! While Em is on her date, I'll be on mine as well!" Charlie grins.

"Damn, you ladies need to find me a date as well," Dale pouts jokingly, I laugh at him. At least I would always have Dale.

It was Monday now, everyone had gone home at around 5:00 when my sisters and mother got back, obviously, the first person they went to was Em, the twins seemed to like her even more than they liked me.

I knew that what I did yesterday wasn't good but I also knew that Kit Kat needed it, just one last time. Em would never find out because I knew that Katherine would never tell anyone. Even Toby hadn't yet figured it out which truly meant something.

Now I could focus all my energy and attention on trying to show Em that I was in love with her, and that we could actually work. I wanted to show her that I was worthy of her love.

Dale had dropped her off at school this morning and I was very aware that he had stayed over at her house last night. I also knew Charlie and Luke stayed as well so I had to remind myself of that to keep sane.

I had taken my motorbike to school this morning as I had a few races tonight to prepare me for this weekend where I would be versing Bate's again, I was meant to go next weekend but I couldn't because it was Em's birthday and Charlie had planned a surprise party. It was invite only and I had to admit, I wasn't too happy with the invite list.

The clouds are still greyer than my grandmother's hair and I only hope that the weather gets better because I didn't want to race in this rain OR to go to a party in it. Yesterday was warm but the forecast had stated that the weather wouldn't be warm again until this Friday. I hoped so.

It was supposed to thunderstorm later today as well which explained the dull weather.

My attention is brought back when I feel a hand grab my shoulder, I turn to look at Toby who had a grim expression on his face.

"What?" I question him as we walk inside the building, I ignore all the girls staring longingly at us because the only girl's attention that I wanted was Em's.

"I heard a rumor and I don't know if it's true or not," Toby begins. I stare at him expectantly, he needed to hurry up and get to the point.

"Yeah?" I push.

"Apparently Mills is going on a date with Ryan after school." He finally says.

I stop walking and stare at him, he had to be kidding. Ryan?

'It's probably just a rumor dude," Toby quickly repeats when he sees the unbelievable look on my face.

Before I can say anything else I see Ryan leaning against a locker with another one of his football buddies. I begin to stride over to him.

"Oh fuck," I hear Toby mumble behind me but nonetheless I hear his following footsteps.

"Bro where are you going?" I hear from my left, I turn to look at Carter and Blake but ignore them and quickly arrive at where Ryan was now looking at me with an intimidated look in his eyes. Good.

The guys stand behind me and I can't deny the pride that fills me with them backing me up, no questions asked. I also have to admit, the fact that everyone was so scared of us wasn't so bad either.

Ryan continues to stare at me, eyeing the guys behind me nervously. What a fucking wimp.

"Are you taking Emily Collins on a date tonight?" I ask, getting straight to the point.

"I um, I didn't, uhh, I mean...yeah?" Ryan rants nervously.

I clench my jaw angrily, he was taking MY girl on a date tonight?! I feel Toby's hand squeeze my left shoulder and I know he's signaling at something, I look over to see Em walk in, laughing beside Charlie and Luke.

I take a breath, unclenching my jaw before I turn back to the loser cowering in front of me.

"You hurt her and I hurt you, you touch her and you're dead. Understand?" I say angrily before turning away from him and walking towards the girl I was in love with. Before I get much of a chance I'm pulled back by Carter and then shoved into an empty classroom.

"What?" I question him. Toby stands beside me biting his lip and refraining from laughing while Carter and Blake stare at me expectantly.

"Something you want to tell us mate, did something happen with Em?" Blake smirks.

"No." I reply. I hear Toby stifle a laugh but I ignore him.

"Leave him alone Blake, if he doesn't want to tell us what Toby obviously already knows then that's fine," Carter smiles jokingly.

"Shut the fuck up, both of you. Nothing's happening between us," I reply after a minute, they already knew I was into her but I didn't want them to know how bad I fucked up, they had gotten pretty protective of the brunette that had stolen my heart.

"After he screwed it up," Toby grins cheekily from beside me.

"So something did happen between you guys then?" Carter smiles, he seemed to be as happy as my mother would be if I told her.

"No."

"They kissed," Toby says. I glare at Toby who just shrugs innocently.

"Hey they were bound to find out sooner or later," Toby replies, "especially now that you fucked it up."

I ignore him.

"Bro, you gotta tell me. What's it like to kiss Em? Damn she's hot and those lips bro," Blake sighs.

My fist accidentally makes contact with his stomach.
