You crept down into the basement. This was where Thomas usually stayed for most of the day. Well, if he wasn't busy out in the barn or something. You snuck down the steps, them freaked slightly under your weight. You hit the bottom of the stairs and looked around, walking further into the room.

"Thomas?"

You whispered into the empty room. Your eyes scanned it but saw no Thomas. Your eyebrows furrowed as you crossed your arms. Where was he? Maybe he was actually in the barn? You turned back and stopped dead, jumping, as you saw his form standing behind you.

"Jesus, Thomas! You can't sneak up on me like that!"

He tilted his head, seeming somewhat amused by scaring you. You sighed and looked back up at him. He looked away, seeming more...distant. More than he was usually. You tilted your head at him, raising an eyebrow.

"Thomas. Are you okay?"

Thomas looked away. He intertwined his fingers, glaring away at the wall on his left.

He wanted to tell you. He really did. It was just that he couldn't. He was somewhat afraid of what you would say in response and he didn't want to write it out because it didn't seem fitting to him. Thomas just huffed in response.

You frowned a bit. What didn't he want to tell you? Or was it something you did? Thomas just huffed again and turned to go upstairs, leaving you in the basement as his heavy figure trugded up the stairs. You knew something was deffidently wrong. Thomas never left you. Not after Tex had come by.

You waited a few minutes before you headed up as well. The whole house was silent except for Luda's soft voice trailing down the hallway from the kitchen. You carefully made your way down the hall, paying at the door. You pushed it open a bit before pushing it open the rest of the way and calmly walking in.

Luda stopped talking and turned to face you. A warm smile grew on her face as she saw you. There was another woman with her. A much heavier woman sat across from her. She had glasses, black curly hair, and wore a flower patterned house dress.

"Oh. There you are. We were just talking about you. Y/n, I want you to meet someone."

Luda stood up and gently took your hand, leading you to a seat at the table. The other woman smiled at you and gave a nod. You smiled back and looked to Luda, who stood besides you.

"This is the one I was telling you about."

"Well, I must say you were right. She is very pretty."

You gave a shy smile in return.

"Um, thank you, ma'am."

The lady smiled.

"I think you were right, Luda. She looks like a fine woman for Thomas."

Luda gave a nod and made a small humming noice in her throat.

"Well, I may say, he certainly has gotten attached to her."

You sat there awkwardly. Of course you had known this, it just never crossed your mind as a huge deal. It usually just stayed in the back of your mind, unspeaking. You liked it that way. But now it was started to crawl up into your thoughts.

"Speaking of which, Luda. You haven't seen Thomas, have you? He's been acting a little...different lately. I wandered if you knew anything about it?"

"No, I haven't seen him. Have you talked to him lately?"

"I tried to, down in the basement, but he didn't answer. He just left."

"Huh...well, I haven't seen him, dear. He might be out in the barn but other than that I don't know where he's run off too."

You nodded and stood up.

"Exscue me, is it okay if I go find Thomas?"

"Yes, dear. Go ahead. Just come back before dinner time if you don't find him."

"Yes, ma'am."

You smiled at her and glanced over at the other lady before turning to her and quickly saying goodbye.

"It's been nice meeting you but I'd better go."

The woman nodded and gave you a smile in return.

"Goodbye, child."

You gave a nod before heading put the back door. The summer heat hit you and you had to shield your eyes from the glare. The sun felt good. It's warmth spread across your face and arms, sending chills across your back and arms. You stepped down off the steps and into the yard, pausing to scan the area.

You stopped and squinted at a tree near the woodline. A figure sat at the base of the tree, leaning against it. It was Thomas's figure. You tilted you head before you began crossing the field. You carefully stepped through the tall grass as you got closer. You paused every now and then, checking to see if had had noticed your presence yet. Even if he had, Thomas didn't move.

When you were only a few feet away from the tree, you stopped. He was sitting at an angle where you could only see a small portion of his face. You blinked a few times, deciding what to do now. You bit your lip and took another step towards him.

"....Tommy?"

His head flicked to the side, just enough to see your figure out of the corner of his eye. He watched you. You could see him staring at you from the corner of his eye. As you took another step forward, he turned his whole head sideways so you could now see the whole half of his face. He still watched out of the corner of his eye, not turning to face you directly.

"Uh...I, uh, just wanted to see where you went..."

He paused a moment before grunting and turning back to face the same direction he had been looking when you had first come up on him. You frowned a bit and walked up besides him. After standing there for a moment, you sat down in the tall grass besides him.

He flinched a bit as you did so but never broke his gaze. You stared at him. He seemed so much calmer than usual. Then again, there was no Hoyt screaming his name or people to chase, or work to do, or anything else. It was just nothing at the moment. Maybe he liked it that way. Nothing but the calm field.

"Thomas. Your gonna have to tell me what's wrong at some point. I'll just keep bugging you til you do."

Thomas shook his head and continued to stare. You pouted to yourself and glared at the ground.

"Please?"

He shook his head again. You crossed your arms and huffed at him.

"You know you're being difficult, right?"

Thomas shrugged. You sighed.

"Why won't you tell me?"

He shrugged.

"Is it something bad."

He paused then began to shake his head, stopped, nodded, then paused and shook his head again. Almost if he couldn't make up his mind.

"Okay...does it have to do with me?"

He stopped. He then began to nod slowly.

"Did I do something bad?"

He shook his head.

"Okay...you know your making no sense, right?"

Thomas sighed. He looked at the ground before climbing to his feet. You followed him, standing up in front of him. You stared up at him. He looked down at you and tilted his head slightly. You searched his eyes for answers but found none.

Thomas looked away. He then paused and looked at the ground, kicking up the ground a bit. He closed his eyes, head tilted at the ground before he took a deep breath and looked up at you. He paused for a second before he quickly wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you against him. You bounced off him slightly but was stopped dead as Thomas crashed his lips onto yours.

Your eyes widened quickly as his shut just as fast. You could feel his muzzle digging into the sides of your mouth. Thomas unwrapped his arms from around you and put them on the sides of you face. He kissed you for a few more more moments before quickly letting go. He stepped back.

You stared at him. Your face heated as you met his gaze again. He had a small look of fear in his eyes. He then looked away before he turned and started walking back to the house in a somewhat hurried pace. You sat there under there under the tree, stunned. You turned slightly to see him going into the house.

"Thomas..."
